Kez Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 ^ Cheers mate, the smallville set is a great purchase and it has 3 exclusive figures which makes it even a better buy and the set itself is rather good, the other good thing is that it only has a few stickers which are really easy to apply, the other two sets are also really good and the figures that are included in the sets are really nice, the only bad thing about the figures is that zod and superman appear in every set but the aliens armour and weapon piece are really nice and unique. Jackattack7 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Today I recieved all 3 man of steel sets for my birthday and having built them I can say that they are really good and I would recommend getting them Happy birthday Kez, which is the best? Quote
Kez Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Happy birthday Kez, which is the best? Thankyou, the best set IMO is the smallville set, but they are all good and worth getting Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 From what I understand he is supposed to be Eric Savin, but they didn't name the minifigure that to avoid spoiling the movie. And more than likely the lack of resemblance has to do with Lego probably having to base the design on concept art rather than the finished product. You can see this particularly with characters like Mandarin, Black Widow and Hawkeye who's figures look very close to the concept art but not the actual movie characters. Lego has to design these figures pretty far in advance and character appearances can change pretty late in a movies development. Then, why didn´t they have the same problem with Star Wars and basically every other license? The Star Wars prequels were basically 1:1 adapted while Iron Man 3 gave us the figs (minus Extremis Soldier, War Machine and Final Battle Mandarin) and that model of the mansion which isn´t even trying to be good. I can understand that LEGO likes to have vehicles because apparently children don´t want to reenact the movies anymore but are instantly attracted to paper boxes with the movies logo. But even then, couldn´t they have just made the helicopters random News agency choppers instead of plastering it with this stupid logo? I don´t think the choppers had Mandarin logos in the concepts anyway and children probably won´t care how they look or which color they have. Hhhhhhnnnnnngggg I don´t want to do this again. Can´t LEGO just produce 12 instead of 6 sets per year and give us some crap tie-in sets for the movies release and a year or so later some real designs? There are many people that look down on those who just care for figs but with Super Heroes it´s completely justifiable. Quote
The Joker1 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Happy birthday Kez, Thats a nice birthday treat, I may consider buying some now you have recommended them (you were right about the bugle). The Joker1 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 What cinema was this? It was my local cineworld in Bury St Edmunds. Quote
The Joker1 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Oh sweet! How many did you get? Just the one, I was going to get a few spares but there were only a few left and there were some children behind me who were eagerly trying to get one so i left them. Quote
Spider-Man Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Iron Patriot is now listed on Wal-Mart's website as the pre-order bonus. I would guess it's pretty safe to pre-order now Quote
Kez Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Thankyou The Joker1, glad you like my recommendation, they are well worth the money especially if you can get them on offer, I also got an even better present which was a £100 lego gift card, I think I might spend it on the tower of Orthanc set, BTW nice card Quote
Legomaster34 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Iron Patriot is now listed on Wal-Mart's website as the pre-order bonus. I would guess it's pretty safe to pre-order now Guess it's official that preordering the DS version won't get the Iron Patriot Minifigure. Ah well, guess I'm preordering the Wii version... Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Wii U. They don't make Marvel Superheroes for Wii. Not having made the upgrade yet, I'm just going to preorder the Wii U version and hope I get one by the end of October. Quote
Faefrost Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Then, why didn´t they have the same problem with Star Wars and basically every other license? Lucasfilms probably has a much deeper level of approval for the Star Wars sets. All of the licenses have all sets reviewed and approved by the license holder. But Lucas's entire business has been focused on this merchandising. Final approval is not being given by Ted from marketing. They have very high level people that look at exactly everything so that it shows exactly what they want. Warner Brothers is probably passing it through Ted from Marketing. Disney is somewhere in the middle. The IM stuff is wrong in large part because Disney was doing a villain fake out in order to pull off a surprise twist in the movie. I don't think this was a particularly fair thing to do to their toy licensors, nor do I think it is fair to blame Lego for it. And even with it, Lucasfilms does occasionally dip into this sort of territory. See "Darth Vaders Apprentice" and "Jedi Bob" Minifigs. Quote
Vindicare Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 (edited) Possible interesting tidbit of info. I went to GameStop to ask about them getting Iron Patriot or not, he wasn't sure but said they're going to get something. Since I just per ordered from Wal-Mart, I'd like to see another Ironman suit. Although, it is likely to just be Iron Patriot. Or nothing at all. Now the long, agonizing wait till the end of the year to get IP. The site said it will ship on 12/31/13...but the game comes out in October, does it not? Edited May 7, 2013 by Legocrazy81 Quote

8BrickMario Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) Yeah, that was posted a few pages back. Who wants a Spider-Man keychain? Give GameStop something better! At least a civilian Rhodey! P.S. does anyone want to see a Rescue minifigure for the Marvel line? Edited May 8, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
SteampunkDoc Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 OK, I'm assuming that this is the right place to ask this. I was looking at the "LEGO Batman: The Movie - DC Super Heroes Unite" and noticed something odd. The DVD version has one disk, while the Blu-Ray has three. Sure, one Blu-Ray, one DVD, but what's on the other one? No bonus features are listed (Even though I believe the five winning entries from the Tongal contest will be included.) So, does anybody know if the Tongal videos are even on it, and if so, are they on that third disk and not in the DVD only set, or what? And if not, what could be on said third disk? UltraViolet is a download, and not another physical format, so it can't be that. Thanks! Quote
Super Goblin Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 The third disc is probably for the digital copy. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 OK, I'm assuming that this is the right place to ask this. It actually isn't but your question has been answered, so no harm done. For future reference, this is for the sets and the place to discuss the movies is the Culture and Multimedia forum. Quote
305Bats Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I already own an amazing bootleg version of the movie but will be picking up the legit version solely for Mr. Kent. Quote
BrickG Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I want the iron patriot but don't really want the game. Lego games got old years ago. :( Anyways, I hear this Lego Batman movie is bascially just the cutscenes from the game. Is that true? Quote
Vindice Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 no it's not just the cut scenes from the game. I think the lego games have had a resurggence. I didn't like the latest SW offering but LOTR and DC superheroes were very good. I expect the Marvel one to be good too. Quote
305Bats Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 It's basically the same story as the game, just expanded. Quote
