But look at Jabba's Palace, that got the rancor pit and that was quite expensive on its own.

But Arkham is a Lego exclusive, and costs almost as much as the two Star Wars sets combined. I don't think those are any indication on whether or not Arkham would be expanded, as the sets are so different.

The Rancor Pit was needed. It is a big part of the movie. Add-ons for Arkham Asylum are not needed, though still possible. Unlikely, but possible.

Agreed, but I see as totally unlikely rather then possible. In addition, the two Star Wars sets could stand alone as a set, where as a new Arkham add on would just be a section of a building without all the major components it needs.

I meant there was a slim possibility for a tower or something. Like a .01% possibility. Very unlikely but there is still a chance.

Either X-Men Mansion which would also be a good tie-in for the "Days of Future past" movie or a Thor 2 set which I think will use the same concept as Harry Potters third Hogwarts set for order of the Phoenix which included only a single building but around a dozen relevant characters from the entire movie.

The Mansion can obviously not be based on the film as LEGO doesn´t have the rights but a Sentinel in style of Orthancs Treebeard with a bunch of Comic/90s X-Men show style figs could work.

I really hope it is the X-Mansion. The X-Men have been sorely neglected in the line so far and could really use some more sets. I'd like to see the Sentinel as a seperate release though, if only to spread out the minifigures. We are looking at roughly 13 main team members afterall, not counting the villains and secondary X-men.

Regarding Thor - there's always the possibility of it getting a set as a store exclusive later in the year. Afterall it wasn't until about June last year when we first heard about Doc Ock's Hideout, and even later for Palpatine's Arrest and Pre Vizsla's Fighter.

Where? And may I ask, is it particularly interesting?

I too saw the ad. It's the same as all other LEGO commercials. I believe it was on Cartoon Network.

I'm pretty sure that's what's going to happen with a Thor 2 set at this point since we only have 5 marvel sets now. As for the X-Mansion, I don't think it's impossible, but I find the chances of getting one next year very slim. There seems to be a large concentrations on the MCU at this point and I think leggo may want to keep heading in that direction. There's a lot of large stuff from the MCU films that hasn't been made yet(Stark Tower, Helicarrier, Oli Ridges from Iron Man 3,) not to mention that GOTG and CA:WS are coming out next year too and will also have some big stuff. I don't know though lego did seem to be hinting about more X-Men sets and they would kinda of tie in nicely with the Release of X-Men: days of Future's Past movie. It's just harrd though because it doesn't seem to be the main thing kids, who lego is really in it for, are interested in. Hopefully in time though, we'll see an X-Mansion, but I personally don't think we'll be seeing one next year.

Well, I know that I would buy add-ons to Arkham Asylum - certainly depending on what mini figures are included. Could be a great way to get some new villains and Nightwing, Batgirl or other Batman characters we are missing.

In regard to an X-mansion: sounds like a great opportunity for a number of minifig characters. Being more of a DC guy, I'd be in favor of a mansion set so that it could become Wayne Manor.

The thing leading the possibility of the X-Mansion set was the quote from that convention that there will be a new X-Men set later this year. The only thing is that all the D2Cs have been announced this year.

Maybe January. Or, I hope January.

Tor-An does not wear the body armor, while Faora and Zod (In 2 of his 3 sets) do wear the armor with capes.

I mean in the movie, I have an extra cape and zod's battle armor and wanted to know if it would be acceptable to put him in battle armor next to Faora and Zod lol

Well Arkham came out December 31st so I really consider it a 2013 set so I'm guessing it will be the same with the next one. Plus we didn't really know anything about Arkham until the autumn of last year.

It looks like this winters exclusives will be the SW Ewok Village, the Winter Village Market and a new huge Architectural set the Sidney Opera house. This according to Grogall over in the Lego General Discussion board. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53130&st=225#entry1603908

So most likely no big Superhero set this year.

I think you are wrong about no superheroes exclusive, because Lego always release two UCS star wars sets a year, and so far we only have one.

Um... The X-wing, plus Ewok Village, makes two.

Yes I no that, but as the Ewok village is the second one it won't be counting as any exclusive for the winter wave. If there was those two and one other then yes, it would probably would count as the other exclusive but as there is two we should still see out marvel exclusive.

We knew about the Star Wars sets on January 3rd and I am certain the Spider-Man set was just a few weeks behind that, March at most. Pictures for the sets are a completely different story.

I´m sure we know the line-up of the entire year. I expect new Hobbit sets in december and now those three S@H exclusive sets.

I wouldn´t expect a Thor wave. Movie toys always come out some months in advance and Thor 2 comes out at Halloween in some countries. September or october waves would be revealed at this point and even if they would do a november wave I would have no idea how they could handle the DC side. 2 or 3 Thor sets and 2 or 3 Beware the Batman sets? That would be a whole wave again and very near to the release of Captain America 2 that would also need some sets.

I wouldn´t take Thor sets for granted anyway. Thor was the worst selling toyline from Hasbros movie tie-ins of the Phase One films. Though, probably because they had so many different editions of Thor instead of different characters but I can see LEGO only looking at the sales numbers and using those to judge the situation.

At best we get a single, wimpy set as part of the winter wave after Christmas.

I am interested in how LEGO will handle the situation in 2014 anyway. That´s three films LEGO has to cover plus Ultimate Spider-Man (they did a different main team member for every set, tiger lady and Power Man sets are inevitable). At two sets for each film/show (which would be a very sad count) that already makes 8 sets, more than they did this and last year. And then there is the nightmare what LEGO will do with DC that apparently gets the same amount of sets as Marvel. Will they focus on the two cartoons DC has on air of which only one has actual conflict and could fit into the action theme LEGO is selling? Will they backtrack and release some more Man of Steel sets? Do they realize we finally need some comic/DCAU based Justice League and give us some awesome variation in heroes instead of Batman in different colors? Will they still only do Batman themed sets but mix it up a little with Nightwing/Batgirl and some more obscure villains they couldn´t do in the last line?

AAAAGGGHHH MY HEAD!

I really hate this line. It´s the most interesting theme for me right now because of it´s potential but they always shoot their load in the first four months and then come six to eight months of complete silence, except for the Comic-Con that only reveals some figures.

With the reveal of the new S@H sets I am certain Marvel gets its S@H set in January and DC has one set less in 2014. Maybe they had different plans and wanted to release two S@Hs per year but then settled on one S@H per year.

Who said there would be more X-Men anyway? Was it some designer or executive?

I have no idea what you tried to say.

I guess S@H exclusives this year are going bi-monthly with the beginning and end receiving two sets.

January - Horizon Express / Arkham Asylum

March - Palace Cinema

May - X-Wing

July - Orthanc

September - Opera House

November - Ewok Village / Winter market

The Marvel exclusive (which is very certain to be released) will be a 2014 set. January could work as a date but July would also be a good time with the summer promotions coming around during those months and a tie-in movies release if it is a X-Men themed set.

Sorry I relise that has made no sense at all. I'll try to explain it a bit better but I don't no how well this is going to go. Okay so the star wars theme release two exclusives per year, this year one has already been released, that being the X-wing, and the next one will soon follow it, this being the Ewok village. This means that Marvel still has its space for its exclusive and Star wars hasn't taken its spot. Hope that made a bit more sense, sorry if it hasn't.

Well, even without a Marvel set we already got eight S@H sets for this year announced, I don´t think there was ever a year with more than that.

The more I think about the super hero theme and how TLG handles it, the more ticked off I get. They don't even get what they have and they don't know how to handle it. If it were a legal thing, which I am sure does gum up the works, I'd be less critical. It isn't that, however...it is TLG just not getting it.

Super heros are iconic, have huge audiences from many age groups and ethnic backgrounds and DC and Marvel have more source material than SW and LotR combined...Yet, for some reason, LotR/Hobbit has had four $100+ sets (which are all awesome), the smaller sets actually have scenery to let you know which universe you are in and there are just more sets to choose from a variety of prices. Heck, even the Lone Ranger had more sets in their initial wave and featured really great builds. What is TLG's problem here?

I could go on and on...but I will spare you all the diatribe. Sorry, I've just really been bothered the more I think about it.

I will just conclude that it is my opinion that someone, whoever is running the super hero theme for TLG, has no clue how to maximize this property into great sales for them and good toys for us.

I think he's just expressing his confusion and bewilderment when referring to the releases of the theme.

I am quite interested in what others have to say, whether I agree with it or not. I don't think he was being negative in his post, rather expressing a criticism. I would wager that we all want better sets from the line and love TLG. We shouldn't shy away from criticism. Without it, things rarely ever improve.

On topic: Why are some folks so sure there will be another big, exclusive set, like Arkham Asylum? Did I miss some news for this rumor?

The rest of the post was interesting, there was just no need for that one comment which didn't fit with the rest of the post anyway.
