kissyfur_ok Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Definitely should be a separate set. If they were included with the Mansion that would mean one of 2 things, hefty price tag or a "dumbed down" Mansion. I think a Blackbird vs. Sentinel set would be perfect. Totally agree, that would be an awesome set and you're right, don't want a dumbed down Mansion at all, i want at least a half decent cerebro room with tiled interior (i can dream/mod!)... Just a thought here. With Nova being in GotG, do you think LEGO will use the current Nova mini-fig or create a new version, should they do a GotG set? It's probable that they'll do a line of GotG as it's likely to be very bold and visual so perfect for LEGO. If so i'd expect a new version just like they did with TDK etc. Lookinh forward to that wave along with the other MCU phase 2's. Quote

The Nova corps will be in the film, there's no proof that Nova/Sam Alexander is in the film Quote

If they were included with the Mansion that would mean one of 2 things, hefty price tag or a "dumbed down" Mansion. I think a Blackbird vs. Sentinel set would be perfect. The minifigures are another thing to consider. There are far too many X-Men characters to realistically be included in one set, and by combining the Mansion, a Sentinel, the Blackbird or the Danger Room together it lessens the chances of many ever appearing in Lego form. Just look at the X-Men team alone - Xavier, Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Storm, Iceman, Rogue, Angel, Kitty Pryde, Nightcrawler, Colosseus, Gambit and Emma Frost are essential if you want a lineup of all the mainstream media characters. Thats 13 minifigures right there. And the count only gets higher when you throw in other characters prominant in the comics (Havok, Psylocke) the B-listers (Forge, Jubilee, Banshee etc) and costume variants. On top of that you also have the villains to consider - Mystique, Sabertooth, Juggernaught, Apocalypse, Mr Sinister, Blob, Toad, Silver Samurai, Pyro, Avalanche, Lady Deathstrike, Sebastian Shaw etc. Without a cartoon on air to support the line or a license for the movies, the chances of us seeing many X-Men sets are pretty slim. The few that we do get Lego should try and cover as much of the lineup as possible. Quote

The Batman sets weren't even based on a current cartoon, and look at the plethora of sets and figs we got from that. -Omi Quote

eldiano Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 From the looks of it, Lego won't have any exclusive figures at the SDCC as of yet, but here's a list of companies with exclusives this year and Hot Toys, Sideshow Collectibles and Lego are not on the list: http://www.comic-con.org/cci/2013/exclusives I guess that's a good and bad thing Quote

So if I'm there and I see an exclusive Flash or Martian Manhunter I will be so angry, unless they're shown as figs for next year. Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I don't believe that for a second. -Omi The MCU and USM cartoon cover the whole Marvel line up save for that one X-Men set. What do we have on the DC front right now? The Nolanman films aren´t viable because they are sooo violent and scary for children, which means we get only one set (I don´t get this logic either). Except that we have Man of Steel. Nobody cares about the direct to dvd films. The last two cartoons (GL and Young Justice) were canceled because of low merchandise sales and are currently being replaced. Even after the replacements air we only get Beware the Batman and Teen Titans Go, of which TTG is a crappy choice for an action theme because most of the episodes they are just sitting around in their home and we all know LEGO hates buildings. That´s 5 (and growing) themes against 2. The general public also likes some themes that are right now entirely comic based like X-Men, Hulk and Justice League in form of the DCAU and the Superfriends cartoon, so it would make sense for LEGO to expand to a JL line but as you know LEGO always makes crappy choices with their DC lines. Maybe LEGO are playing it safe this year. Still, I think they should give something to those AFOLs who give their time to go to Comic Con. Quote
pjonze Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 That exclusives list isn't complete or final - Mattel (and others) have unannounced exclusives lined up for the show. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 Still, I think they should give something to those AFOLs who give their time to go to Comic Con. I think their Bilbo scavenger hunt thing was a good idea. From what I hear, it was much more readily available than the SH exclusives and since he came in a set later, there's no animosity from fans who didn't make it. Honestly, though, just making it to Comic Con seems like reward enough in and of itself. It's a nerd nirvana. I don't think TLG needs to further subsidize the trip for people by letting them scalp exclusive figures afterwards. Quote

eldiano Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Hmmm good point!!! I figure they would be on the exclusives list, but even it would be safe to ask The Lego Group it they are planning any give away! Quick question why would Lego be hated for the exclusive give away last year? Was it because the rest of the world could not get them like everyone else? Quote

Quick question why would Lego be hated for the exclusive give away last year? Was it because the rest of the world could not get them like everyone else? Because the DC figs were fan favorites and most wanted in a set. Marvel had Jean Grey, another most wanted, in her MOST ICONIC OUTFIT!!!! Plus the released the black suited Spidey, but i can patrially forgive them for that, it is a variation of a character, BUT it is a fan favorite version of Spidey. So the reason is that because they were iconic, fan favorites, and most wanted in Lego form! And they were in limited numbers, not for the rest of the world. Quote

Quick question why would Lego be hated for the exclusive give away last year? Was it because the rest of the world could not get them like everyone else? People always hate those exclusive figs that they either never get or will have to pay 200 bucks for at least. The really bad part about last year was that those were rather essential characters and not just meaningless variations that only a small fraction would really want, like Green Lantern Hal Jordan in style of the movie everybody hates and Nolanman in a black suit instead of dark grey. Shazam, Phoenix, Bizarro and Black Suit Spider-Man are all rather important characters. But seeing how Black suit Spidey is identical with Venom save the head it remains to be seen if these figs are really exclusive. I could see them just giving Shazam a cape that looks actually like the one in the comics and Bizarro without the sign on his torso could be legitimately called a variation. But that would probably piss off the people that waited an eternity in lines or paid that much on Ebay for a fig from a 26€ set. Quote

I don't understand why Lego thought it would be a good idea in the first place to give out such fan favorite characters at an event that not many people are able to go to and in limited numbers. I mean, I'm going this year and I hope they don't have any exclusive figures. Quote

Personally I'd like to see some justice league sets, I've been watching the animated television series again recently and its really good it like tnba meets superman and other heroes. I'd personally like to see more mos sets as a krypton one with jor el's golden armour would be nice and there are others such as the black zero, Kal El's pod ,fortress of solitude and the huge action sequence that remain not created. Piranha Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 So why can't we get sets on X-Men again? And Fantastic Four? And the like? -Omi I agree the Marvel line has been lacking in comic inspired sets (which are very nice), which is probably the only way to get lots of characters that haven't appeared in films or shows recently. That is why I believe the next wave would be a great time to introduce more comic based Marvel sets. Because honestly this year having only Ultimate Spider-man sets in the winter wave was a disappointment. Plus one set for Marvel seemed to be missing, barring a possible Thor 2 set in November. Which is also possible considering last year, the sixth Marvel set came in August. Quote
305Bats Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I would buy ANY DC minifigs LEGO is willing to make! Quote
eldiano Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I agree, although I recently saw that all of the SDCC minifigs ran up for a cool 1,200usd I must say if I had extra money I would buy them all, hell I love Shazam, Bizarro, Jean Grey and Black Spider man which I honestly thought it was Venom in the first place upon closer inspection. I do have some hope we will see them in the future that they can update them and not just have an overall basic design. I wouldn't mind an alternate Shazaam with a hoodie on... Maybe that's just me I am used to collecting more expensive toys than lego, but either way for something so small that couldn't get replaced easily it could be a bad investment. Quote
North Lego Star Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Again, I believe we'll be getting some movie based minifigs as CC exclusives this year since it's something unique that would never come in a set. Here are a couple ideas... DC: -TDK Joker -TDK Two Face -BB Scarecrow -BB Ras al Ghul Marvel: -IM2 Whiplash -IM2 War Machine -IM Iron Man Mark 1 -CA Captain America -CA Red Skull -TIH The Amboination I guess we'll just have to wait another month to know Quote
