SoupOrFishOil Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 The reason for designing him like that is almost certainly so they can include his famous lightning bolts. Remember, LEGO can't print on the sides of the head, only for the face printing and, where it applies, printing of the back of the head. It's just the way their printing machines work. Actually, yes they can. This is the best image I can find where you can see that the recent Lobot minifigure has printing on the side of his head. Quote

Bilbo Baggins Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I believe in the possibility of a set based on the Justice League's comics, why would they have a comic in the Lego Designer's room if they weren't. Quote
Sam892 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I was wondering the same thing. That's the only explanation I have. It's probably because this is a new technique. It was only about 10 years ago that we got a double sided face ( professor Quirrel) and now there everywhere. We most likely won't see this type of printing more widely used for a couple of years as it will be expensive for LEGO to buy more of these printing machines. Quote

Omicron Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 It's probably because this is a new technique. It's not new. At all, and others have done it before Lego. Lego has the ability to print all the way around. And it is not that expensive of a process for a big corporation with many printers on hand. Lego just was not reaching their full potential. -Omi Quote
ScaryScarecrow Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 We gotta remember, those aren't the finished product technically. It's always possible that we get full head printing, but wasn't on the computer rendering because we wouldn't see the back or sides of the head. Quote
Oky Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I was looking at this. It is the rumor list for this year posted one year ago. That made me think, can we except next's year rumor list soon? You mean "expect"? Well, word has it that the new retailer catalog is out, and your link seems to confirm that rumor, so yes, we should see a rumor list very soon. We gotta remember, those aren't the finished product technically. It's always possible that we get full head printing, but wasn't on the computer rendering because we wouldn't see the back or sides of the head. If you need photographic proof that the final product is the same, here you go. So yeah, TLG has no excuse not to use side head printing from now on. Quote

Sure Lego has a lot of money but Lego still do not wish to simple waste it. Think about the amount of printers Lego must own and then think about the price it would cost to replace all those machines in one go. On top of this the production line would have to be shut down in order to install all of those machines. On a side note I'm a bit disappointed that Ivy is in this wave again, it would have been cooler if it was Killer Croc or maybe even Hugo Strange. Quote
Karcsi Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 The new minifigs are very cool! I'm expecially waiting for the Dark Knight Rises set(s?). Unfortunately I don't know the other comic caracters well. :( Quote
has a differing opinion Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) According to this website...TG Daily - LEGO reveals next year’s super hero minifigs These are all of next years Marvel and DC Comics figures, all we have seen of course from SDCC but not all together side-by-side and hello, Poison Ivy makes it two years in a row....ah, that kiss of death ! *snip* Edit - two Spiderman....must be a typo or posting error from that website ? Wait, look at the figures in the rows... I maybe paranoid, but could the bottom two rows be part of or the set minifigure line ups? I mean, it would make sense with the security guard, poison ivy, harleene and batman. I'll wait for now. Edited August 7, 2012 by CorneliusMurdock removed quoted picture Quote
Spider-Man Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I'm sure Ivy will be in a set with the security guards and Dr. Quinzell, I'm still expecting an awesome Arkham , but seeing how the Marvel characters are all thrown around it really makes me doubt any of the other characters are in rows of the sets they are coming in. Sam892 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 For some reason I keep thinking that Commissioner Gordan may be in a normal comic based set. I know it seems more logical for him to be with Bane and TDKR batman but unless there's a Batpod and SWAT van VS Jokers truck (TDK) set I can't see him in a TDKR set. Its only because of the SWAT vest which he is wearing doesn't appear in the film. The Arkham set will be interesting. I think it will certainly be the biggest in the Superheroes range so far. Hopefully Robin will get a vehicle of some kind as he must feel a bit upset looking at all of Batman's vehicles that are all one seated. I mean how has he been getting to the crimes? Quote

Miles Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) That picture you're referring to was compiled by a fan - it's not an official release, so I'm not sure you can make any inferences in regards to the character order. Edited August 6, 2012 by Mesozoic Mike Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I can't wait for the sets based on the Ultimate Spiderman, though I would have enjoyed one based on the episode "Iron Spider" so we had an Iron Spider minifig, very usefll in Civil War MOCs. Quote
Gooker1 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Did the rep say when the fig would be released? Sadly, as of comic con, nothing was going on regarding a Flash figure. :( Quote

Well based on the episode of Ultimate Spider-Man "Beetle Mania" I think that one set will for sure include... -Spider-Man: Obviously -Beetle: The main villain of the episode -JJJ: Beetle tries to kill him in the episode -Nova: Has a personal grudge against Beetle I also hope Mary Jane is in the set as she is a focus of the episode... Faefrost Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I think Dr. Doom may be included too. Lego may have heard high tech enemy and saw the screen shot of Doom and Beetle together , and just assumed. In the "Ultimate" Marvel universe Beetle ( the red suit version) is an employee/ minion / agent of Dr Doom and Latveria. The Beetle suit is Doomtech. Of course seeing the Ultimate Beetle just wants me crave a classic Beetle. Or better yet. A full Thunderbolts set. Quote

Santaduckz Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Between the new brick-brick, the vampire castle and the haunted mansion - I think we are in for one heck of an Arkham set. TLG has learned how to nail that style of architecture perfectly over the past 12 months. Can't wait to hear the set rumors!!! Quote
