Omicron Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Also LEGO can make sets based on all DC movies as DC and WB are part of the same company and had no rights sold to other people, which would mean they could do Green Lantern, Flash and Shazam sets if the last two had actually movies made about them and Green Lantern would have been a success. Yeah I'll just keep the fig as a lingering memory of that movie. :P But a good GL set could be something small like Hal Jordan VS Sinestro or Kyle Rayner VS Parallex. Something along those lines. -Omi Quote
Savage Oppress Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 At Comic Con: 1. We will probably see Thor: The Dark World Sets and Minifigures for the Winter Wave for Lego Marvel 2. We will see Minifigures and Sets for the Winter Wave for Lego DC 3. Minifigures and Sets for Winter Waves for the Other Lego Themes. Quote
Another Brick In The Wall Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 (edited) You're misconstruing what I am saying. Fox has exclusive movie rights. They own that media. It's theirs, and has been since the 80s. -Omi Don't mince my words. The "movie rights" are a renewable, non-exclusive licence in the F4 intellectual property to produce a motion picture that uses F4 characters. The only "media" Fox "owns" with respect to F4 are the F4 films it has produced in the past. LEGO can make sets based on everything except the movie versions of Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four and all the movies that came before and were made by a different company than Disney (for example all Hulk films and the MCU films before Avengers). This remains to be seen since none of us are privy to the terms of Fox motion picture licensing clause. The legal question is does making F4 Lego products infringe the merchandising clause associated with the motion picture rights. Given the deal was negotiated at a time when Marvel was in the proverbial financial shithole, it's a possibility. The nearest analogy is the Lego Dark Bucket infringing the licensing agreement Star Wars has with Hasbro to produce Star Wars action figures. Edited June 28, 2013 by Another Brick In The Wall Quote

I think Sonys and Fox´ contracts are the same save for the amount of years that can pass between each movie of an IP (Sony has five or less and Fox seemingly around 10). For Spider-Man movie sets LEGO needs the rights of Sony and for Amazing Spider-Man 1 Sony sold the license to Mega Blocks. Quote

Sony sold the merchandise rights to all the Amazing Spider-man films to Marvel. This is because Sonys in debt. strangely Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I'm really hoping Lego has the rights to do the next film. Those Ultimate Spider-man sets have been mediocre at best and I want a better looking Spider-man minifigure. Quote

The mask would more than likely be the exact same, however the torso could definitely use an upgrade and please I want some Spidey boots! And Sony sold the rights to MB for ASM, but since Sony sold all merchandise licensing back to Marvel it is possible that LEGO gets to do sets for ASM2. Quote

At the very least the eyes would probably be a bit more detailed. Unfortunately I don't think we'll get the boots, Lego still hasn't figured that one out. Honestly I would be overjoyed if Lego got the rights to the next movie. Megabloks has done a horrible job. Even as a die hard Spider-Man fan I wouldn't buy those crappy sets they make. Tobias_Jay Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Just got back from Man of Steel and I it is refreshing to see how accurate to the movie the sets are, unlike Iron Man 3. There are just 2 inaccuracies. 1. Faora should be in Black Zero Escape, not Zod 2. I am pretty sure this has been said, but Colenol Hardy has a jet, not a jeep. Other than those, they are very accurate. On a side note, I also picked up the Iron Man Extremis Sea Port Battle. I think War Machine Is my favourite minifigure in the Superheroes line, but that could change when I get Zod in his armor. Quote
Kez Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Im sorry if this has already been said but there are some new superheroes clocks that I think have been released: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=5002422-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=5002424-1 Quote

I think with the set, it combined the scenes of when they first entered the ship as well, as well as when Zod is interrogating Superman. Hence why Zod was a part of the set and not Faora. Her inclusion woulda been nice though, but probably would have upped the set price. 2. An again with this, when Superman surrendered early in the movie, Hardy was with the Army who had jeeps. A somewhat combo of scenes with that too. -Omi Quote

But the scene when Lois was escaping from Black Zero, Faora tried to stop her from escaping, then Superman flies out and goes to save her after she damages it with a laser gun. But I see your point, it would have upped the price. 2. I have been distant with this topic for a while, I didn't realize there was an answer to that inaccuracy. Sorry. Amset-Rah Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 So I picked up one of the Man of Steel sets on a whim and wasn't expecting much, seeing as I haven't seen the film yet and I'm not much of a Superman guy as I am Batman, but I was pleasantly surprised. Both Superman and Zod are amazing minifigs and the scenery (The rubble and radio tower) is a nice add-on that I've expanded upon. The car's pretty nice too, though I think there's a bit too many exposed studs and the seating area's a little clunky, but I understand it's supposed to be more of a set piece than a car. Again, I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know how relevant the set is to the film, or even such a scene exists (Like Mandarin's flame-throwing go-kart). Still a steal for $12 and I'm interested in checking out the Smallville set too, but the other themes are beckoning me. Quote
legofreak86 Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 (edited) Just looked at the exhibitor's list for July comic con and Lego are listed so they must have something to show. Here's my Hopes of what they reveal: 2014 superheroes minifigures like they did last time. The figures they revealed for 2013 blew my mind so I hope if they are revealing the 2014 ones they are just as exciting. I'd like to hear some more about the hobbit 2013 sets. What does everyone else want to see? Edited July 2, 2013 by legofreak86 Quote

legofreak86 Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) That's interesting although I assume if we do get pre avengers sets that they will be like the Harry Potter sets and be best of sets. Yeah so maybe of course if they do make more sets we might get a set from each movie with the principle characters. E.G: Thor vs. the destroyer, Captain America red skull chase etc. What you mean is a set for each movie not a full range right? That's interesting although I assume if we do get pre avengers sets that they will be like the Harry Potter sets and be best of sets. Yeah like with harry potter they release a range of sets but each set is based on or is "the best of" a different mcu movie (excluding hulk) if they were to make sets such as these they would probably capture the essence of a key scene from each movie and include a few principle characters. Like Thor they would probably have his face off with the destroyer and include: Thor and Jane Foster or captain America would have probs red skull, cap and agent carter etc. I think they'd probably do a combine set for iron man 1 and 2 though and use some well known thing that covers both. BlueberryWaffles Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) I would think they would tie them into sequels. Like if we get Thor 2 sets we could get a Thor set. And on the Winter Soldier wave we could get a First Avenger set. (or they could rerelease the IJ Flying Wing with Cap, Red Skull, and a Hydra soldier. EDIT: This also might mean mk.1 War Machine!
