Sam892 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 SDCC reveal guess - Is it about time for a new Green Goblin? The old versions are looking rather dated compared to the 3D printing we have now. I would guess the bulk of the figures this week will be movie based (Thor for sure, maybe ASM, CA Winter Soldier?) but I would really like to see some of the new game characters. I would love to see some X-Men future past figures but I have already been educated that it would be unlikely on license rights. The Wolverine opens next week - to a total absence of merchandise - so I guess nothing there. I highly doubt we will see many Movie figures as apart from some of the Thor stuff, Marvel haven't shown anything from other movies. So far we only have concept art and photos taken by the public for Captain America, and we have nothing for GoG. Also we didn't see any pictures of Iron man or Man of Steel at any of the cons. The only movie figures we have every seen are the Dark Knight Rises (by at which time the movie had already been released) and the four Avengers (which LEGO had to do as Avengers made up most of the wave). Even with the Avengers figures we got no Villains. This is why I think that we will only get Cartoon and Comic figs shown. Also with ASM if we do get sets, I'm guessing that the Spider-man figure will not have any leg printing. I think the leg printing is just for the Convention fig. Quote

Very good point Sam, I hadn't considered it. So apart from Thor, that would lend weight to the figures being based on game or comic sources. The good news is, that would open the choices up a lot! Another Brick In The Wall Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 (edited) These are just some extra goodies for people at the convention, and like anything special nowadays, they then end up on the secondary market for lots of money because they are rare. The money made on the secondary market is money lost for TLG while simultaneously penalizing true Lego aficionados . Thus, the solution is simple: make them available in a polybag 6 months later.I'm quite certain you're wrong about that. I'm in New Zealand, but I emailed LEGO customer support about the figure and was informed that it would only be available with preorders from Walmart or Walmart.com, which doesn't ship internationally.I have Iron-Patriot preordered with Lego Marvel Avengers from ebgames.com.au Edited July 15, 2013 by Another Brick In The Wall Quote

We could get one from ultimate Spiderman if you've seen that show it looks like this: TBH I 'd be perfectly happy with this design and the glider. The show itself is rather silly but this different twist on the goblin is quite a novel idea really. He has been part of the major story arcs recently I read on imbd. Another way to get goblin is there was a report in empire or bleeding cool recently where they claimed gobby would be showing up in asm2 in green and black armour slightly different to Spiderman 1's version. So if that is true if there are asm 2 sets then we could get him then. depending what they show in the trailer! my favourite design I'd like to see would be this as it always has been the favourite of mine: Edited July 15, 2013 by legofreak86 Quote
Pulp Detective Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 So guys I heard that Lego singed a contract with Fox so they have the rights to sell sets based on the movies like the upcoming wolverine movie or the xmen movie,if it's true does it mean we are going to get "The Wolverine" based sets? Quote

Its the 25th over here which is a week on Thursday. I agree though. It is highly unlikely that they would release sets for that movie judging by the distance from the release date. If the fox thing is true then days of future past could indeed have sets based off it in 2014. Quote
GuntherThePenguin Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 This is a comic version of Green Arrow, it's based on the New 52 version of him. The Arrow version of him has sleeves and face paint. Ah thank you for clarifying. Either way, it's not the Green Arrow I'm familiar with seeing so I'm not all that sad about missing this one. Quote
305Bats Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Someone over on The Fwoosh claims to have seen the 2014 DC/Marvel sets,he claims they're based on the same 2 main characters as before,(I'm guessing Iron Man or Spiderman for Marvel,Batman for DC)he still hasn't offered any more details. As for my hopes:Wayne Manor set with Batman,Bruce,Alfred,Rah's Al Ghul,Robin. Killer Croc Battle with Batman in some anti-croc suit,Nightwing,Killer Croc. Some other set with Flash or GL! Quote

There was a thread that was later merged with the Licensed Rumor thread about there being a Simpsons theme since Lego was in talks with Fox. Could be a possible chance we could get some more out of it than just Simpsons, like the X-Men and FantasticFour movies. -Omi Quote

That's actually a pretty good possibility if we do get Simpsons sets. Good thinking! And I remember the rumor from that X-Men panel about there might being more X-Men LEGO sets in September... Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted July 15, 2013 Author Posted July 15, 2013 That would indeed be awesome if we could get some Days of Future Past sets. Especially with all rumors about which characters will appear. The Marvel line-up could get very crowded for next year. If true, the DC line will need to branch out from Batman just to keep up. Quote

That's what I'm thinking! For Marvel, we most likely will get sets for T:DW, CA:WS, GotG, and then if speculation is true, X:DoFP, AS2, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Personally, I'm just hoping for ones on the first three movies listed, and a generic X-Men D2C set. What I'm thinking is that we'll get a lot of Batman stuff and maybe a generic Super-Man and Green Lantern thing next year, as they all appear in The LEGO Movie. I'm still hoping for Teen Titans Go! sets, but that will be impossible. Edited July 15, 2013 by just2good Quote

While I would like to see the teen titans, you have to remember how cartoony that show is and how the minifigs will be so out of place next to the other superheroes from comics and live action movies. GuntherThePenguin Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Personally I don't think we'll be getting anyway GotG sets. Too many complicated pieces for the figs, like a raccoon minifigure? Sounds a wee bit difficult. Also, GotG isn't getting a sequel anytime soon so it wouldn't really be smart (in Legos mind) to make sets off of one solo movie that doesn't already have an established fanbase, whereas Thor and Capt. America already have succesful franchises ahead and behind them and mass amounts of dedicated fans. Just my opinion.... Quote

I'm still hoping for Teen Titans Go! sets, but that will be impossible. Well, we still have one more Marvel set for 2013, that I have no doubt will be revealed at Comic Con(Really do think that one last set will be a 30$ Thor: The Dark World set.) As for next years line up for Marvel here's what I think we'll be getting... -1 Large Lego Exclusive X-Men Set -2 Amazing Spider Man 2 Sets -3 Captain America: The Winter Soidler Sets That leaves out any Guardians of the Galaxy sets, but to be honest I don't know if lego would have actually done those sets any way since the would have to be pretty big sets and I don't know if kids will actually be interested in the movie. As for DC, I'm pretty sure we'll get some new Batman sets(really hope we get some more TDKR sets,) but I'm also hopeful that we'll see one Flash and Green Lantern set. I guess we'll just have to wait until Thursday to find out though. Quote
wesker Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I'm really hoping to see more X-Men sets next year, although I prefer that they're based off the comics rather than the films. Even though I like the movies I find the character designs to be incredibly dull and uninspired. Give me the bright coloured costumes any day. And a Storm minifigure that won't be sporting Judi Dench's haircut. On the Batman front I have my fingers crossed for Nightwing and Batgirl next year. If Ra's Al Ghul shows up then Talia better be with him. Quote

America already have succesful franchises ahead and behind them and mass amounts of dedicated fans. Just my opinion.... Think about the other characters we have gotten over the years. Look at some of the Star Wars characters, some of them must have been way harder to have been turned into minifigures. Watto,Sebulba, Salacious Crumb, Jabba, General Grevious, ect. A raccoon would be much easier to do than most of the Star Wars line. Also we have had no official word about there being no sequel. Apart from Ant-man no other phase three film has been confirmed. Your forgetting that Man of Steel didn't have a confirmed sequel and LEGO still produced sets around it. GotG also have a large fanbase. They have been around for 30years. Given there current state it makes more sense LEGO giving them sets. As kids may not be as familiar with them, Marvel will most likely make a big promotional push for them in both marketing and merchandise. Kids will be more attracted to the film if there is a bunch of toys and LEGO sets based on it. Plus if its anything like the Star Wars licence, Marvel will have the final say over what sets get made. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 That brings up the problem with the license. Is it really even split between the two companies? If so, Marvel really needs to limit itself for what sets get made and DC can go all out since they've released nothing yet. Marvel has a ton of material coming out in the near future and DC is still sitting idle. I love both DC and Marvel, but the actually achieve all of the figures/sets I would want would require a lot more than 6:6 sets.. As far as my guesses, I'd assume something related to F4 to help tie in with the game (even though the release dates are different) and I'd hope for something Thor related. Spider-man always seems to be a seller, so hard to avoid one of them. Batman is a constant seller, so I always welcome more of him if they bring out some new figures which I would hope for Batgirl (first and foremost) and hopefully a Nightwing. Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I really hope that there well be Wolverine sets. Maybe they were kept under rapes? As far as DC goes, there going to have to figure something out quick. Maybe Arkham Origins style/inspired sets? Argh!!! To many questions! Quote
Spider-Man Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 (edited) So guys I heard that Lego singed a contract with Fox so they have the rights to sell sets based on the movies like the upcoming wolverine movie or the xmen movie Has anyone found any sources stating this? I did a quick Google search but nothing came up I personally would rather Marvel not get the FOX license to do movie based sets, and rather just make their own X-Men sets based off the comic versions of characters and then maybe they could just so happen release the sets around the same time the movies are released Also, I will be slightly disappointed if they just come out with more Super-Man, Batman, and Iron-Man sets (unless they gave us a bunch of new suits). We really need to start branching out and getting some more new figs and less variants of the same character! Edited July 15, 2013 by Spider-Man Quote

The_Chosen_1 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 (edited) TheLegoDr actually brings up a great point, as far as current content from DC and Marvel go. I think that a more fair split would be something like 8 Marvel and 4 DC sets (and even that is pushing it, since DC has no new films announced). Edited July 15, 2013 by The_Chosen_1 Quote
