I think that the Iron Man films' realism is gone now with the Avengers, I mean, gods from Asgard, a magical cube, a portal through worlds, an invading alien army, the Hulk, does any of that sound realistic to you?

I would be happy to discuss the realism of the Iron Man film universe in Avengers Assemble thread in the Culture forum.

Edit: Sorry, gotta get this last one in and I'm done with the topic. Per Collider:

Quote-many fans are wondering whether or not the Mandarin will use his infamous rings of power. Marvel’s Kevin Feige recently spoke to EW on just such a topic, saying not to expect beams of ice or fire like in the comics. So, no magic, even though magic has already been introduced through Marvel’s films and the comics’ version of the Mandarin has ten rings of unfathomable power.

I'm not the type of guy who says I told you so....

They could reuse the LOTR ring and recolor it 10 different colors, chose the two you want him to use and keep the rest in a chest or something.

If he didn't have super powers, Tony could just beat him up easily

I think Lego will give him the rings, pretty important to the character. It would be a stupid move on Lego's part if they didn't give him at least some thing to resemble the rings,

The ring to control people may have to do with the armors having a mind of their own/.

First off, I'm pretty sure the whole 10 rings thing was shot down a while ago. Second, what do you mean if the Mandarin doesn't have super powers he could 'beat him up easily?' None of the Iron man villains so far had any superpowers.

Third, it's already been established that the suits have a 'mind of their own' because of Tony's new bio-mechanical-ish ability to control the suits, it has nothing to do with the Mandarin. Besides, why would the Mandarin be controlling them when the suits are fighting against him?

It called the Extremis virus dude. It what make Tony create the mind control thing.

I think Mandarin will have mind control at least.

In the trailer War Machine( Iron Patriot) is attacking the US President aboard Air Force One, I don't think Rhody's doing it of his own free will . Mandarin is attacking the President to kill him and creat anarchy.

I hope they include the rings. But in January/ Febuary we will find out. January is the London Toy Fair, I believe. We tend to find out figs and things then, but little pic are sometimes taken.

Inserted spoiler tags. Please do not spoil the film for others. Some of us would like to be surprised.

The Avengers film sure, but Iron Man films still keep their realism as they were originally intended. Chances of ever seeing Mandarin in the movies was actually slim because of the whole sorcery thing. However Favreau did look at the options of making him a terrorist leader of sort, which the Ten Rings became in both movies, a terrorist organization, which was a fine enough allusion to Mandarin.

And you're not understanding the "realism" either for the movies. Sure the Hulk isn't realistic, but it was realistic as possible for the setting of the movie. Even the first Iron Man isn't that realistic if you think about it. But they pulled it off.

That figure was made before the ring piece was, but I think he'll get in the future.

No, the figure was released before the ring piece was. The ring piece could have already been made before hand, as concepts and prototypes are made around that time. Just cuz Lord of the Rings was announced later on doesn't mean they weren't tinkering with it months prior.

I don't think anyone really appreciates the way you keep slamming them down for not having the same detailed knowledge that you evidently have. This is not a movie forum.

This ring conversation is getting ridiculous - we now have proof that the magic rings won't be in the movies. So even if they were included as some kind of mechanical wepon (which seems unlikely) It seems pretty obvious that they are not going to be important enough to make into a new mold or recolor 10 rings for a 1-off purpose.

Well there like 8 other Lantern colors so there's other uses. That figure was made before the ring piece was, but I think he'll get in the future.

I feel like the chances of them creating 8 lantern figures to get use of the 8 rings is a little unfeasible, don't you?

The rings may not do magic, but that doesn't mean that they don't do something. Feige said they don't do magic, but they could do something else.

Or he could be misleading people.

Great. Now they only have to find 8 other uses for the rings. At the end of the day, like Sam 892 said, they didn't do it for green Lantern, who only has one ring. Why the heck would they do it for a character who has 10 haha?!

Don't forget that he was an exclusive. They don't usually give exclusives accesories.

The more I think about it, the less likely I think the rings are. A great solution would be a new mould of a handle with the rings printed.

Are you suggesting that LEGO use a new hand piece then the one they currently have? *huh* All accessories would have to be reworked all to just print on a couple colored lines to resemble rings?

I think he means an accessory, sort of like wolverine's claws, which the rings would be printed onto. :)

eeehhhh

I didn't even like Wolverin's claws (he's holding them.. we need bracelet accessories that go before hands) and I don't really like trying to make rings fit on the hands. Lego hands just weren't made for them. Especially 5 of them per hand. Maybe just print the hand with little dots.

They could do the rings like that or not at all.

Feige said the ring won't do magic, that doesn't mean they won't do anything at all.

Didn't LEGO print the hands on Boba Fett years ago? It's only a one off, it's possible that LEGO will simply print them, though unlikely as they don't like printing hands.

In regards to Green Lantern, he was a SDCC exclusive, no comic con exclusive character has ever came with an accessory, that's why he didn't have a ring.

To be honest, I am just hoping TLC make their super hero minifigures of better quality next year, too many times they were reported to have cracks in the bodies and other things this year.

The hands are te one thing Lego has never printed on, it wears of to easy and hard to do. Boba Fett has never had hand printing, only arm and leg printing.

Who else is getting tired about the continuing discussion of the Mandarin's rings, I think Crissmonster has the solution, case closed for me.

Didn't you know?! This is the Mandarin ring discussion topic! The name got accidentally changed in the server switch. We're just waiting for the mods to change it back

I agree though. Let's just end this. We'll just have to wait and see.

I am wondering what the sets are going to look like, maybe the extremis set will include the extremis armour and some computer or something for the virus, the malibu mansion exactly in the trailer and Iron Man.vs.Mandarin maybe includes the war machine and of course Mandarin.

Posted

Right.

Here's my thoughts

76006- maybe Stark, the new suit, Aldrich Killian and parts of Stark's lab or maybe Stark in the new suit dealing with the virus or War Machine( gotta have conflict, Lego's number one rule!)

76007- definitely based on the mansion's destruction. Parts of destroyable mansion and a helicopter. Tony, new suit, Pepper, whoever in the heli, War Machine?

76008- Iron Man( new suit), Mandarin, War Machine. Don't know much else.
