Hello everybody

Today i will show you my 9V conversion from my Emerald Night.

My Lego trains driven with DCC, so i would not have a PF train on my Tracks :D

Yesterday i had found a Solution :

I made it with a Lego technic Pin and a round 1x1 Brick.

With the copper desoldering wire, i made a flexible pickup.

One in front and back of the locomotive.

I use an Technic 9V Motor in the middle of the locomotive.

Power Pickups :

Welcome Paddy. Please be aware that our site guidelines for image posting is 800x600 max. I've removed your images but left one link. You are most welcome to repost within our site guidelines.

Do you find that the pick up are consistently good, or do they tend to jump at all causing loss of power in places?

Sorry to dig out this "old" topic, but maybe you can tell me a bit more about your DCC, Paddy? My Emerald Night was delivered today, and as it is my first but surely not last train, it needs to be powered. I can't stand batteries, so it needs to be intelligently powered with DCC. And as Hrw-Amen asked, do the pickups tend to jump off the track?

I just placed a 9V motor under the passenger car... but i only have those damn front wheels going off track ... maybe i need to ''borrow'' some lead from my moms shop xD

If you have a broken (burnt-out) 9V train motor: open it up and remove the motor (see http://www.lgauge.co...ins/dcc/dcc.htm for details). Then, put the motor-less "motor" under the tender and run the connection wire to the PF XL motor or your DCC chip. Works great!

Regards,

Alain

I would really love to be able to get some metal wheels to make pickups like a 9v motor but without the cost any one know if there are non-Lego solutions around for this?

sorry to go a little off topic...

I would love to see the other pictures that were removed if the OP could repost or direct me to a Flickr account maybe?!

Thanks!
