Posted July 16, 201212 yr I was looking for some alternate model instructions on lego.technic.com website and I see the new summer models instructions are already posted there. Are they out in stores yet? I checked TRU which notoriously releases models early and didn't see them there, S@H didn't have them on their site either. I know lots of times they come out in stores and online about the middle of July in my experience. Anybody seen them pop up anywhere? The Rock Crawler looks exceptionally fun. Eric
July 16, 201212 yr This is what I posted on the other 2h2012 thread: Stopped at the Lego store today. Models come out July 23rd. Here are the prices: 9398 4x4 Crawler: US $200.00 9396 Helicopter: US $120.00 Glenn
July 16, 201212 yr @ TechnicFreak: Actually, the Lego Technic 9398 4x4 Crawler IS NOW AVAILABLE from Toys-R-Us' online store in the USA -- I just ordered one! The price is the same as TLG's -- USD $199.99 (before shipping costs). However, the 9396 Helicopter and 9393 Tractor 2H2012 sets are not yet available there.
July 16, 201212 yr The last time that Toys R Us had a set online to order early, it was done by error(Remember they did the same thing with the 9397 Log truck?)... They are also currently sold out now at Toys R us online... I can't believe they don't have the price jacked up $10 to $20 more dollars like all of their other sets... I am looking forward to picking a few of these at Brickfair at the 30% off for my Australian friends... I also got a coupon for 20% off anything at Toys R Us(except for video games) this entire week(In store only) so if the crawler does in fact get onto the shelves this week, then I suggest everyone checking their e-mails for the coupon...
July 16, 201212 yr Wow, that sellout was quick! It could be that Toys-R-Us also "goofed up" by releasing the 9398 set too early. May The Lego Police shut them down -- who knows? Anyway, TLG should be selling LOTS OF THEM in about a week.... I have e-mail confirmation for my Toys-R-Us transaction, so I expect them to honor the deal. Edited July 16, 201212 yr by DLuders

I think Mike(Camaro365 from here) had ordered one of the 9397 sets early from Toys R Us... Hopefully he can chime in here with exactly what ended up happening... DLuders, if you are a Rewards member at Toys R Us, you should have received that 20% off coupon in your e-mail... It's possible that they may stock the sets this week... July 16, 201212 yr Thanks for the heads up guys, on both subjects (I normally ignore the TRU emails). Makes sense if they do show up on TRU shelves this week, as TRU has previously got sets early and unannounced compared to the s@h release dates. But normal MSRP at TRU?? THAT makes no sense! ...on TRU logic, that is
July 16, 201212 yr This happened with the 9397. Paul is right. They contacted me a day later and said my card wasn't charged and I would have to wait 'til the release. I think I was on the tail end of the orders, so DLuders, you should be ok if you did indeed get the confirmation e-mail. Good luck to all. -Mike
July 16, 201212 yr What I don't understand is why people don't wait until LEGO sells it on their site. If you have the vip points thing, more points= more money back(well more money discounted in future orders, same concept of more money) Everyone wants more money, except the baby. (Someone from the U.S. please, PLEASE, get the reference )

If you have the vip points thing, more points= more money back(well more money discounted in future orders, same concept of more money) Everyone wants more money, except the baby. (Someone from the U.S. please, PLEASE, get the reference ) True, but Toys R Us usually always offers Free shipping where as with Lego shop at home, you usually have to pay it... Plus the good old buy one get 50% off deal can't be beat(When they do run it and as long as Toys R Us doesn't have the prices raised)
July 16, 201212 yr But Toys R Us hardly ever includes Technic in the BOGO 50% off sales, or mine doesn't anyways. And I usually don't buy online unless I'm buying from LEGO shop@home. It would be easier if other stores sold Technic as my TRU doesn't keep a big stock anymore. They maybe have 3 sets at most, the two smaller and then a bigger set, this year the minimog crane and plane.
July 16, 201212 yr In 2011 Toys R Us ran the BOGO 50% sale Online at least 20 times with Technic included every time and even ran a Buy two get 90% off once... I haven't seen them run it recently though, but they have sent out 20% off coupons to Rewards members this for this week, so if they stock(in store) the Crawlers by chance, you can get one for $160.00(plus tax) The week that they released in late Feb of 2011, I bought Ten(10) 8070 sets at buy one get one 50% off at their normal price of 119.99 and got them shipped to me for free... I do think the last time that Toys R Us ran the BOGO 50% that Technic and I believe Star Wars were not included... You just have to shop around for the best prices... Just like buying parts between Lego Direct and Bricklink... I am looking forward to the 30% off at the Lego Store at Brickfair this year...
July 17, 201212 yr I am looking forward to the 30% off at the Lego Store at Brickfair this year... So am I
July 17, 201212 yr I am looking forward to picking a few of these at Brickfair at the 30% off for my Australian friends... Maaaaaate! can I be your new Australian Friend? RB

Here are the prices: 9398 4x4 Crawler: US $200.00 9396 Helicopter: US $120.00 Glenn Ouch, $200 for the crawler. Guess its inline with the Unimog from last summer. Surprised the Helicopter isn't more, its even less than the 9397 Logging Truck, but looks way more sophisticated.
July 17, 201212 yr Maaaaaate! can I be your new Australian Friend? Arr, Capt'n Pegleg be at your service as well, matey!

Yeah haven't seen those TRU sales in a long time, but the 4 area stores near me have hardly any Technic, guess it isn't a big seller in Michigan. Every once in a while you get a surprise, like 2 Excavators showing up 2 years after release, and a load of Supercars not too long ago at the store closest to me. If there had been a BOGO 50% sale, might have picked up more cars. I was kind of waiting to see if those 4 TRU's ever got the 9397, hasn't happened yet, kind of doubtful it will. The last time that Toys R Us had a set online to order early, it was done by error(Remember they did the same thing with the 9397 Log truck?)... They are also currently sold out now at Toys R us online... I can't believe they don't have the price jacked up $10 to $20 more dollars like all of their other sets... Well their error was my hit, I got 2 9397's in late January, just happened to look for any sales and was shocked to see it, didn't really have the money, but it just happened to be on a week with a BOGO 50% off deal so I picked up 2. Just out of curiosity I checked later that evening and they were off the website completely and I began to wonder if my order had been cancelled due to the error you spoke of, I even called the next day to their Cust Svc and indeed they were on their way. Guessing 'somehow' their distribution center must have gotten a shipment from Lego intended for release in early March, but someone screwed up and put them up on the site, even saw most of the new releases on their store shelves way before actual release, summer and right before Jan. 1. I figure hey if they market it, I'm going to buy it. I can recall the summer 2010 lineup, and I wanted all 3 of the items, the Excavator, Mobile Crane and Container Truck, but the nearest store that had them, a lot smaller store than the ones in my general vicinity, and I drove 65 miles each way to get them, nice run anyway, hot, sunny, breezy weather. A fast freeway heading south towards Chicago. Might have to put that one off this year, its been a blazer in Michigan, highs in the 90s and 100s most of the past 3 weeks or so and a lot more to come, and the good ol AC isn't working that well anymore...but if it was something I really wanted, I'd good for it. The last time that Toys R Us had a set online to order early, it was done by error(Remember they did the same thing with the 9397 Log truck?)... In my experience with TRU, they seem to release at MSRP, then jack them up a few weeks later, at least that's what happen in retail TRU's around here... Mike and I both live in Michigan and they seem to show here for a brief time then are gone, only to reappear at odd times. I haven't talked with Mike via e-mail in a while, but I would guess he probably got his 9397 online when they did their 'oops release' in January. Wow, that sellout was quick! DLuders - I know you are a respected guy in this forum, but I would do like I did and check to MAKE SURE they are actually processing the order. In my estimation, one other time I got an order cancelled and it took like 2 to 3 days for them to send me an e-mail advising that I would receive credit, believe it was the 8109 Flatbed Truck from last summer, they said it was in stock, and it went through processing, but it never went through to the shipment process with me getting a UPS tracking no... What I don't understand is why people don't wait until LEGO sells it on their site. If you have the vip points thing, more points= more money back(well more money discounted in future orders, same concept of more money) Everyone wants more money, except the baby. (Someone from the U.S. please, PLEASE, get the reference ) Have over 100 VIP points and ordered another 9395 Tow Truck plus shipping for free and still have points to spend. That's a great program S@H has. But Toys R Us hardly ever includes Technic in the BOGO 50% off sales, or mine doesn't anyways. And I usually don't buy online unless I'm buying from LEGO shop@home. It would be easier if other stores sold Technic as my TRU doesn't keep a big stock anymore. They maybe have 3 sets at most, the two smaller and then a bigger set, this year the minimog crane and plane. Here you there Xan326 - all I've seen in a while is just the plane and 2 other tiny Technic sets. Only rarely do they stock the big ones. In 2011 Toys R Us ran the BOGO 50% sale Online at least 20 times with Technic included every time and even ran a Buy two get 90% off once... Haven't received my 20% off coupon yet, did you all get them? Looking like they are indeed out of the 9398 already. What's funny is, they have dropped the prices to MSRP values or lower on most models, wonder if its permanent?
July 17, 201212 yr My Toys is REALLY bad about the rewards thing, they hardly ever give you your rewards I wish other local stores would sell Technic. Target would be a great place since my family gets their medicine there, we get tons of their $10 gift cards. I actually saved up a ton of them to buy some other LEGO sets, and my whole wireless network (Including all the cables) So I think Target would be a GREAT place for Technic to sell (Again, I spotted some back in 2008)
July 17, 201212 yr It kind of sucks where I am in Canada, because everything here is more $$, so TRU is actually the normal price. Also, TRU has the most sets within an easy driving distance. The only place with more selection is the Toronto Lego Stores, about 1 and a half hours drive away. I also don't have the money to spend on the Crawler, so I have to wait until Christmas. So, until then,
July 17, 201212 yr Where I live they have no LEGO stores in driving distance. Can't they just put one somewhere around southwest Missouri, PLEASE?? The nearest Lego place is the discovery center in Kansas City, I don't even know what a discovery center is, and I don't like KC because of the people that live there.

I live in Kansas City and have been to the Legoland Discovery Center. It's owned by Merlin Entertainment (a licensee of Lego) and they don't honor the VIP program at that store. We do have an actual Lego store that opened at Oak Park Mall (on the Kansas side) that honors the VIP program. It's a great store and they have most of the major sets you can order from S@H. BTW, we don't like you either :)
July 19, 201212 yr The online Toys-R-Us website in the USA has some more of the Lego Technic 9398 4x4 Crawlers IN STOCK FOR SHIPPING NOW -- get 'em while they're hot -- http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12818254&prodFindSrc=search .
