nielsv Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Thanks GRogall for these pictures (-: I like this set a lot. It has some nice details in the building, I really like the fireplace. The plow truck is really sweet and lots of minifigs. Overall this is one of the sub themes I like most. It's in a real nice setting. Quote
Ferrik Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 The detail of this cottage is simply spectacular. I will think about getting this. Quote
The Blue Brick Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 This set looks amazing. These winter sets never disappoint. Quote
kyphur Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I'm really glad I got in on this series while I could still get all of the sets... I definately won't miss this one... Quote
Remus_Lupin Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 The pictures have me smiling from ear to ear, I cannot wait. The cottage is just beautiful. Quote
dartmar Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Another set to add to my Winter (Christmas) Village collection. But I am running out off 12V lights to lit the village. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) Take a close look at the first picture......the dad is holding a Stihl chain saw - they have orange trim on some of their chain saws ! I like the minifig count too.....three females included (1 girl, 1 mum, 1 grandma) and of course Homer or Mr Plow ! Edited July 31, 2012 by lightningtiger Quote
Hey Joe Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) Can anyone see, what can be put on the back of the snowplow? The sleight maybe? Perhaps those brown things on the back of the truck are some sort of 'rack' to hold the plow if you want to remove it? What's the little side building, an out house? I love the set myself but also think there's too much white on the sables. Here's hoping for a train station next year! Edited July 31, 2012 by bjtpro Quote

The side building is for cutting firelogs which can be seen on the side of the building there is a small oilcan and hatchet inside the building. As for a train station would be nice but I dought we will see one any time soon..... a lot of people would complain that they don't have a train to go with it! and the Holiday train has gotten out of reach for most people with a price range from $300-$600. Still Raindrop Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Curses! I had hoped to be the first to make the "Mr. Plow" reference. Thanks for the pictures! The size has me slightly concerned (a "cottage" that's bigger than the stores in town; makes it less of a cottage and more of a ), as does the price--I may not be asking my mother-in-law to get this one for me (the tradition for the past three Christmases, but $100 may be a bit too much for her). Interestingly, I feel like I'm very impressed with all the different elements that make up the set (not LEGO elements, but things like the plow, the interior, the exterior, the igloo, etc.), but I'm not as impressed with the set as a whole. Maybe I'm just being too critical, or maybe I'm finding sour grapes because I may not be able to get this one. I also agree with everyone on the minifigures! I like the grandpa and the red-haired kid, but then we get three repeat torsos, a Squidtron torso, and that Kingdoms queen torso, which I've never thought of as a good city torso, much less in the winter. I've already had to modify so many of the Winter Village minifigures; I'm a little bummed that, if I do get this set, I'll have to find ways to modify even more. Quote
Kai NRG Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Seems a bit expensive to me. . . but it has a lot of neat accessories! Quote
rongYIREN Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Awesome set, will probably buy for the snow plow alone. Quote
gotoAndLego Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) I know that everyone loves big sets, but I really wish they kept the price and size in line with the other sets. I do dig the snowplow. I also think its going to look out of place with the other Winter sets because its so large. Edited July 31, 2012 by gotoAndLego Quote
Lyichir Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 To bring back the talk about the quality of the minifigure design, this one seems to have a kid wearing a scuba suit torso. So he's just been scuba diving in the middle of winter? Great logic, LEGO. Actually, that torso wasn't originally a wetsuit either. It first showed up as Squidtron's jacket in the most recent Space Police theme. In any case, I think it passes equally well as a jacket or wetsuit, so no harm, no foul. All in all the new set looks fantastic, and personally I can see how it would merit the higher price. I probably won't get it, just because I don't collect the Winter Village sets, but it seems to blow the earlier models out of the water! Quote
bb15080 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I am not into town but I have to have this one it will stand nice with the rest in the wintervillage love the snowplow and the iglo Quote
Haltiamieli Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 A very worthy addition to the Winter Village theme. I'm not into Town themes but I do sort of regret that I have no money to fork into collecting these sets. They are just so cute. I have to agree with many others though that some of the minifigs could be chosen better. I like the blue colour in this one, it suits the cozy atmosphere and gives some colour to the village scene as a whole. I did a quick (and as such quite flawed, especially considering the varying perspectives) mashup from all the main WV buildings, I think the Cottage fits in nicely regardless of its slightly bigger size: I'm slightly annoyed that the roof window doesn't go through to the kid's bedroom. BrickPicker Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Great looking set. Love the string XMAS lights. Quote
Bellicose Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) The post office roof doesn't have nearly enough snow on it. Time to start hoarding white plates and tiles! Edited July 31, 2012 by Bellicose Quote
MikeyB Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 another fine addition to the line. I still need to pick up the Post Office though so this one might have to wait later next year. there are just too many bigger sets that I want, Haunted House, Sopworth Camel, VW Bus, New Hobbit and LotR lines. Not to mention the CMF coming out every couple months.... Quote
Carbohydrates Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I'm not sure I'm thrilled with how the ceiling was handled (kind of ugly over the upstairs bed, plus the dormer is fake), but the rest of it looks very nice! Quote
takuto20 Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I'm afraid it's too expensive for me. With a heavy heart, I say goodbye to the Winter Village series. Quote
leng jai Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I seem to be the opposite of most people here. I've always liked the theme itself but the sets haven't appealed to me due to their small size. This set however looks amazing and right up my alley. Quote
smellsgood Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 That will make a great addition to my winter village. Though I do find the fake roof window a little annoying, I'll get over it for the other things about it that are awesome. Incidentally, my grandparents had roof windows that never went through to anything. One day I searched their house for hours, and those windows weren't anywhere, not even anything that looked like fake windows. So, it's a technique that also happens with real houses. Quote
Vindicare Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 The thing that bothers me even more than the shoddy torso choices is the street light inconsistency... I really wish they were all the same(modeled after the first ones). Those lights really fit with the atmosphere of the buildings. Quote
