Archer Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Would be neat if it were a trick or treater in a skeleton costume, say black minifig with white printing. Quote
Kai NRG Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Decided to add my two cents worth - although these are not so much guesses for what will actually be S9, but just minifigs I'd like: Librarian - guy or gal, doesn't really matter, but some nerdy looking dude (like the Computer Geek) with a book. Mountaineer - I was hoping (although certainly not expecting) for this in the S7 "trader". I think a Daniel Boone style minifig would be great (maybe a new style of rifle, and - I guess this is stretching it a bit - a dead rabbit? OK, a live one is fine too.) Groom - Yeah, I'm borrowing a bit. But it's high time we have one (the S7 bride needs a counterpart, and formal tuxedos are always in demand), and the LOTR ring sounds like a great idea - I really want one of those somehow! Ancient Greek/Roman - nationality doesn't really matter, just need a toga. Plus a laurel crown. He could even be a Caesar, for that matter. Baker - maybe a baguette (still don't have one), or, if LEGO wants to save that for the high-priced sets, a new mold. We haven't seen any chefs yet (unless you count the butcher) so I think this would be great. Outdoor griller - yeah, too many chefs spoil the broth, but we need a guy in an apron grilling sausages or steaks. Native American Girl - seems like a great possibility, and we might get a Sacajawea - I just know I spelled that wrong - type minifig one of these days (with a baby on her back! Now wouldn't that be cool!). Especially if there's going to be a Legends of Chima theme next year. Elephant Suit Guy - there are a lot of different great suit ideas out there (especially lion), but I think an elephant - with two new removable tusk molds, or, if that's asking to much, a peanut, maybe - would be. . . different. Astronaut - now that the City astronaut line seems over, we need a accurate looking one of these. Sure, we've had plenty of space guys, but we need another astronaut that looks real! Judge - we could get some nice elements in here - a powdered wig, for example. Musician - we need one of these (at least). A flute, guitar, violin, or maybe a trombone. Just some musical instrument - we can't really have a concert with just electric guitars, pianos, sticks for flutes, and cymbals. Toy retailer - Grandfather style guy, with some new toy piece - a toy car (with a pull-around string), maybe? Party Organizer - Colorful pointed hat, a colorful clownish suit - maybe a bag of candy or a piñata? Jockey - sure, we just had one with the GB Olympic minifigs, but we could use a male one. With a whip/stick, maybe. Golfer - I think a golfer would be awesome - the main problem I foresee here is the ball. Unless LEGO just skips the ball and has us come up with our own solutions. . . Police Man - there are all different types of police, and we've just had one "highway patrol"? Sure, we've already got tons of policemen with City, but on based after, say the English model, would certainly be a nice addition. Well, that's 16. There are a lot of other great ideas out there, and I think we'll also be seeing a Wolf-suit guy and possibly a Grandma one of these days (to go along with the Grandma visitor, of course). And of course LEGO will be sure to get its fantasy minifig in S9 somehow, but I didn't list any anyways (not a fan of female elves or medusa. . .). Quote
FireWorm Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 1) spacepirate 2) gas station worker 3) violinist 4) ping-pong player 5) angel with sword 6) XIV century lady 7) futuristic racer 8) maya indian 9) which doctor 10) special force policeman 11) guy in a elephant suite 12) greek philosopher 13) girl elf 14) girl singer 15) animated character 16) judge Quote
Souperlizard Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 4)Female Elf This is the one that I would like to see the most. Seeing as they would probably use LOTR pieces, they would fit right in with the other LOTR characters and would be great for Middle-Earth MOC's I hope you do well with your guesses this time, especially #4! Quote
Kai NRG Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 4) ping-pong player Great idea I want a real looking ping-pong racket! Quote
chard5000 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 1 Galactic Miner (M-Tron redux) 2 Wolfpack Bandit 3 Judge 4 Guy in an Elephant Suit 5 Witch Dr. that was originally planned for the Zombie set. 6 Lego set Designer (like an employee) 7 Pro-Bowler 8 Old-timey criminal mastermind (to oppose the detective) 9 Historic-type knight 10 Roller-derby skater 11 Mountain Back-packer 12 Comic shop owner (with lego comics) 13 Movie Director 14 Female Elf 15 Sasquatch 16 Mythological Hero Doesn’t seem very likely, but I wouldn't mind a set like that. MonkeyCrumb Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Here's a few thoughts for everyone to ponder: Regarding Angels, Devils, Monks, etc, hasn't TLG specifically stated they would NOT release religious-themed stuff? I know these figures would sell very well, but IIRC Lego specifically ruled these out already. (sad, because I'd buy a ton) Regarding Abraham Lincoln, Ben Franklin, etc.: Is this even possible? Lego seems to focus on the generic, so seeing specific personalities seems unlikely. I mean, even fictional characters who are Public Domain aren't even named (Sherlock Holmes, Red Riding Hood, etc). Sure, TLG could do these figures and give them generic names. But then that brings me to another point: TLG is not an American company, so why would they focus on American politicians? Sure, cowboys, etc do well, but is there an *international* market for things like this? That said, I'd still be down for these in a heartbeat! Also, same logic applies for Queen Elizabeth - too specific. Now, another thing to think about in your guesses is that Lego likes to complement existing sets in CMF(except for licensed sets due to contract issues), and are very heavy into parts re-use. Even Alien Conquest got the recent Queen after the line was cancelled! (Of course, City is always well represented). So consider these in your guesses. I do love the non-themed stuff, like the Fantasy and Historical figures. For everyone wanting an Indian Snake Charmer, you did know one was released in the Medieval Character Education set right? Granted, it's not the most detailed, but there it is... My hands down favorites are the monsters. This is what brought me (and others I'm sure) into collecting the CMF's. We need more Zombies, and I hope Lego continues to make a wide variety for years to come! Also I hope the Monster Fighter line continues at least a few more waves. I know people have talked about how long will this line continue. I hope indefinitely, even if the releases per year have to be decreased to maintain quality (I hope not). But here are my guesses 1) Medusa (even if not wave 9, she NEEDS to be made. Awesome concept, and the top of many wish-lists!) 2) Angry Villager with Pitchfork (double-sided head, can go with Castle theme AND Monster Fighters theme!) 3) Hunchback (Quasimodo) 4) Wolf as Granny (to complement Red Riding Hood) 5) Cyclops 6) Judge with powdered wig 7) Ancient Greek Scholar 8) Female Elf 9) Man in Suit (prefer Panda or Pig, so many other great ideas posted incl. Elephant & Chicken) 10) Clown with big shoes (love the circus theme, need more figs from it, clowns always welcome) 11) "Evil" Wrestler to complement S1 Luchador 12) Golfer 13) Accordian Player with Dancing Monkey 14) Anubis Guard (reuse of Pharaoh's Quest with new deco) 15) Actress with gold statuette accessory 16) Space Man Astronaut - Red suit I'd love to guess more Monster figures like a Bride of Frankenstein or Evil Lab Assistant (Igor or Renfield), but I'm really hoping TLG is saving these for a second wave of MF sets. I would army build the Angry Villager like mad! And giving them torches is simple enough from anyones parts-bin, as long as they officially come with pitchforks and dual-printed heads for different expressions (neutral and ANGRY!) Quote
natelite Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 But here are my guesses snip snip... you have some pretty good suggestions/ideas. i like the reissue of anubis guard since those only came in the $99 set. recolored, i think they should be quite popular. spaceman remade in red (reissue version) sounds good too. sort of neo-classic red spaceman like. good. what i don't like is more clowns. we already have 2 clowns and 1 mime. how many more iterations do you need?! no more monkey. how many chimpanzees do you need? evil wrestler, i can dig it. if they make it in black and white, i can see the popularity especially with the metal rock band - kiss - fans. hopefully they will also include the evil long tongue. i wouldn't want them to make a cyclops because it will most inevitably fail. too small. they should consider making a 2x larger minifigure to complement the regular minifig. in the last 20 years, there's been hardly any need to make double-sized figures, but we desperately need one now. i don't quite like the one-mold large figure like the hulk, trolls, etc. they should consider making a double-sized figure to make the larger monsters, like minotaurs, trolls, giants, hulk, the thing, cyclops, etc. Quote

I would army build the Angry Villager like mad! And giving them torches is simple enough from anyones parts-bin, as long as they officially come with pitchforks and dual-printed heads for different expressions (neutral and ANGRY!) Ugh! I wanted to trim a bit of this for brevity, but here was too much in your wonderful post to leave out. Re; Religious Minifigs or subjects. I don't think the boundary is quite as well defined as we might think. They have clearly sworn off modern religious imagery. But much of the adventurers and history lines do feature some historical religious elements of various degrees. So while we will never see a modern nun rabbi or imam, and we certainly won't see something like a direct biblical reference such as Moses, I would not rule out something a little more generalized in a historical sense. A Medieval Monk or Friar (ie Friar Tuck) or a classic Eastern Monk would probably be within the realm of possibilities. Even if they gave them a more generic name like "Kung fu guy". Have they ever done specifically named people? I can see maybe Abraham Lincoln, if just because he had such a distinctive, yet easy to do look. Just call the fig President. Maybe do a "Queen" that is Victoria and a Roman Senator? I'm not sure how well you could sell political leaders. It might be worse than religion. I'm with you on how they like to compliment existing themes, especially evergreen themes. They also like to compliment existing CMF's. For Monstrs 1. Igor / Hunchback. A no brainier. Like the Vampire, the Werewolf, Frankenstein and the Mad Scientist, the Mummy, etc he has been done before in the Studios line. He is due for an updating. 2. Bride of Frankenstein. Would love to see one. But the fact that we haven't makes me wonder if there are licensing issues? The Bride is a unique Universal studios property still, unlike the others. 3. Headless Horseman, would be easy to do a great fig. But really needs the horse. One of the new LotR types. I predict this will be a smaller set if there is another MF wave and not a CMF. 4. Evil skeleton. I'm thinking something more than our standard skelly. Like Barbosa in the Isla de Muerta set. City sub themes Police 1. Bobby. Another no brainier. Timeless. No guns. Distinctive. 2. Canadian Mounty. See above. Visually striking and distinctive, yet uses Forrest police parts. 3. SWAT, sign, probably will never happen. No modern guns or military. 4. Judge. A great CMF option. Wig Gavel, robes. Fire 1. Classis "New Yorker" style fireman? Old school leather helmet, great coat? Yeah yeah I know it ain't happening, but I can dream. 2. Search and Rescue Specialist. Forrest gear, backpack, search dog (non police dog handler) Civilian types 1. Boy Scout, another no brainer. Forrest police hat. Bandit bandana, kid legs. Fire. Think of him as both a source and a solution to the Forrest fire sets. 2. Teacher. Female in skirt. Apple, pointer. Dull but obvious. Fantasy and Faerie Tale 1. Big Bad Wolf, compliments red 2. Grandma 3. Princess 4. Prince Charming 5. Fantasy Barbarian. Insanely muscled nearly naked guy with huge sword and horned helmet. 6. Fantasy Barbarian Female. Insanely muscled nearly naked woman with... With... Ummm... Let's be honest no one would be paying attention to what she came with? History, Adventure and Such plus other assorted weirdness 1. Zoro! A no brainer once you think about it. Musketeers recoloring. 2. Roman Senator, our long desired toga guy with laurel wreath. 3. Colonial/American Revolutionary era soldier. Just an excuse to use the tri cornered hat. 4. Daniel Boon type woodsman or pioneer. Coonskin cap etc. 5. Chinese Warrior 6. middle eastern trader or sailor 7. Some of these ideas have already been mentioned, but that would be because they're excellent ones that I would like to definitely see. 1. Pumpkinhead-style headless horseman 2. Medusa (with Ninjago snake tail) 3. Terracotta warrior 4. Golfer 5. Scarecrow (a generic farmer's one) 6. Judge 7. Witch doctor 8. Guitarist with new acoustic guitar piece 9. Roman Emperor 10. Astronaut (not a fantastical one, but a realistic one) 11. Templar Knight 12. Gothic girl 13. Dark elf 14. Secret agent (James Bond inspired) 15. Basketball player 16. Yeti Quote

Kinda like they did with the Man-Bat of Series 8/Monster Fighters. Quote

The Brick Rat Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Well, I won the Series 8 contest so let's see how I do for Series 9 (some of these are carryovers from my series 8 guesses) 1)Ancient Roman in toga 2)Ballerina 3)Blue Boxer (Since they have already produced the boxing gear in blue for the Team GB fig, I figure a companion to the series 5 boxer isn't far away) 4)Canadian Mountie 5)Cat Burglar 6)Folksinger (Female with hippie hair and acoustic guitar) 7)Gardener 8)Girl on rollerskates/rollerblades 9)Goblin 10)Golfer 11)Good Knight 12)Jazz Musician (with sax or trumpet) 13)Lion Suit Guy (It will be time for another animal costume fig. A lion suit is my preference) 14)Medusa 15)Princess (pink with the old style conical hat) 16)Red Coat (Revolutionary War era fig) Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) The minifigs I could well imagine in series 9 would be: -basketball player with basketball -male ice skater with ice skates -centurion with short sword and round buckler -sheriff with "Wanted" plate and gun -Wild West banker with money sack -female gardener with watering can -guy in lion costume For the other minifigs I don't know - apart from crime related and religious staff these could be anything. But I really hope that we'll get even some regular City themed minifigurs and finally some kids! What do you think? Klaus-Dieter Edited September 1, 2012 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Capt. DraikNova Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Well, here are some guesses: Alien (similar to the one Toth has on his site) Guy in dragon costume (more of a want than a guess as it would require a new scaly wing piece) Medusa (with snake hairpiece, note that Medusa was essentially a human with snakes for hair) Sprite (reusing the fairy wings) Paleontologist (with fossil brush and fossil) Quote
Faefrost Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 A few more guesses - Guy dressed in a Bee Suit. Seems an obvious continuation of the costume figs and a reuse of the fairy wings. - some sort of distinctive Crook. City police need some love, and they have Lego undercover coming out. - evil Sorceress. We have good wizards and bad Wizards, but no female representation beyond the Witch fig or Harry Potter. Something more a kin to a goth version of the Castle Queen fig. - Boy Scout. Just too easy to not do. We need more children. Reuses the bandana and the Forrest police hat. - Good or Shining Knight. Counterpart to the evil knight. Just a given. - space Crook (pimp?). You just know they will give us a Brick Daddy recolor one of these days. Probably in red. - Bicycle Racer. Yellow jersey, tools, bike hat. - male Lifeguard. Lego Speedos. Will be the most awful thing ever. Will feature "Hoff Hair". - Ski Patrol. Just because we don't already have enough bloody skiers. This one will have a safety vest. And maybe a backpack. - Internet Troll. Fantasy era troll head and helmet, in a greasy bathrobe, with a laptop and coffee mug. The evil counterpart to the S7 IT guy. - Princess. Just because we really never had one. - Fairy Godmother. Sort of an either or with the Princess as they would both use the same pointy hat piece. Another fairy wing reuse. - American Pioneer. Buckskins, coon hat, rifle. Think Davy Crocket. - Chinese Warrior. If the Ninjago book is to be believed they may have some new molds in the works in this direction already. - Female Dentist or Vet. Counterpart to the surgeon. - Classical Musician. Continuing their music theme. Tux or evening gown, violin. Sheet music. This is what happens with no coffee in the morning. Quote

Haltiamieli Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 you know what would be really, I mean really cool? What if LEGO started putting animals in CMF series? That would be cool! I hope they would make a chimpanzee! Oh wait... But yes, I too hope they would use animals in CMF series more often. A new parrot (recolouring or a completely new mold) would have made the Series 8 pirate captain so much more desirable. I'm still hoping for a shepherd/shepherdess with a sheep for a future series, though I suspect that would be pushing the limits of the CMF package size. Quote
Flea Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 yeah, but that monkey isn't good as the pirate version one... there is alot of animals that they could make not just snakes or parrots... goats, roosters, lambs and those kind of farm animals would be very cool... *.* Quote
