Bobsy Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I believe the Spartan helmet and Genie tail have both been reused. You're absolutely right there. Thanks for pointing that out. Quote
Faefrost Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Let's think about minifig parts that still need re-using. The reason for the list is that it might be more profitable guessing figures based on the parts Lego have to re-use to try and offset the moulding cost. A few may find their way into the new space theme, such as the galaxy patrol armour and the classic alien head. But for the rest... There are a few minifig accessory packs that are begging to be made. Legionary/Spartan/Gladiator. DONE. Gorilla suit/Lizard Suit/Bunny suit. DONE. Genie/Minotaur/Leprechaun. DONE. Quite what's stopping Lego from doing these all at once I don't know. It's not like they have to jostle for shelf space. I do wonder about that Sombrero. Where else could you use it except on another Mexican? The big possibility would be a mariachi with new moulded acoustic guitar, which would be absolutely fantastic. The surgeon's cap has one very obvious re-use - someone in the shower. Think about that for a second. Yeah. Obviously he/she would need a towel to cover their dignity. The ruff could be used on practically anything and I'd want to buy it. My hope? A Lego take on Elizabeth I. It's a long shot, but it'd be totally worth it. The paintbrush and palette lend themselves to a Friends set. Maria's Art Contest Showdown or something like that. Unless it's already been done - I'd hardly be surprised. Figure the hazmat suit will join the Galaxy Patrol Armor in Galaxy Squad sets (it was first seen in the Alien Conquest wave 2 concept art.) The Sombrero, the various native American headdresses, the cowgirl hat and probably the hippie hair (long hair with headband) are all appropriate to western themes, so will probably show up in forthcoming Lone Ranger sets. Although a full Mariachi band would be nice. The surgeons cap and toolbox are very generic. They can easily be reused as what they are in a city set. Sadly I am not sure how we would ever see a reuse of some of the animal costumes? Not unless they do something like a studios theme again. Although I so want an astronaut in an ape head. Quote
Ojik Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I will try it too. I didn't guess on Series 8 so now's my time. I've been planning to guess since the thread started, but I was postponing it again and again. A lot of great ideas appeared here so I added them to my own ideas. However, I couldn't push myself to sit and choose the best ones. I finally did it a few days ago. Although there are about 40 figs on my list, it wasn't easy to pick up the sixteen. I was trying to pick up the ideas that are likely to be done. I know there are some that will hardly be produced, but I couldn't resist. So, without further talking, here are my two cents: 1) Golf player - Dressed in traditional clothes: checkered colourful sweater and a typical hat. Comes with a golfclub and maybe even a bag for clubs. A golfball would be good, but it's not probable. 2) Judge - Black gown, wig and gavel and printed tile representating case files. 3) Violin player - Comes with a violin and a bow. Maybe a member of the orchester, so suitable clothes. 4) Camper/Fisherman - Bucket hat, probably fishing rod, maybe a bag and a frying pan. 5) British policeman - Hat, handcuffs and baton, a whistle would be nice, too. Could be dressed like in the 19th century, in a long trenchcoat. 6) Frontier or something - Davy Crockett hat, rifle. 7) King - Modern looking, with new crown mold, scepter and globus cruciger and cape representating royal robe. 8) Riot policeman - Black helmet with clear visor, clear shield or maybe black with visor, and a baton. If the rumours about a SWAT police subtheme are true (have you seen the Chase McCain minifig?), this doesn't look improbable anymore. 9) Ancient citizen - Toga suited man with a scroll. Could be Greek or Roman, philosopher, Senate member, even an emperor, or just a regular citizen. 10) Igor/Hunchback - He may appear in the second wave of Monster Fighters next year (I hope there will be one), and if not, it would be a nice addition to the horror theme in the CMF line. 11) Stewardess/Flight attendant - Blue uniform, hair/hat combo (or just a hat attachable to hair with a hole in it), and a tray. 12) Scout - Uniform, hat (the new forest police one or a new mould), bandana, and trumpet. Boy would be better. 13) Old man/woman - A cute old person, with a new cane mould. Grandpa should have a beard, grandma some new curly hair. 14) Fencer - Helmet and sword. Would be a great addition to the sports theme and a very remarkable figure. 15) Barber - Man or woman with scissors and hairdryer. We need scissors and hairdryer is the best other thing I could imagine. 16) Director - Hat (the Golf player's, maybe), megaphone, maybe a screenplay on tile. Quote

Yooha Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) Reading these ideas made me wish many of them to come true, hopefully sooner than later :) Although I made a post here earlier, some minifigs are so great, so I decided to make my dreamlist according the ideas I read here. Some of them are mine, but I "stole" many ideas from others, some of them literally. Sorry for that :) I've rewritten them to have a uniformic style, and I added some with any unique feature which are important to me 1 Golf player - checkered colourful sweater, a typical hat (same as the scottish bagpiper) and a golfclub. A bag for clubs, which can be attached like the scabbard, with a holder to grab 2 Frontier - Davy Crockett hat, rifle. 3 Ancient roman citizen - torso and legs with toga painting (similar to the Statue of Liberty), shaved face with stern expression, laurel wreath on head 4 Stewardess - Blue uniform, blond hair, hat can be attached like the bride's tiara and a tray (2x2 plate with airplane food printing). 5 Girl scout - Uniform, hat (the new forest police one), bandana, and trumpet. 6 Royal policeman - Hat, handcuffs and baton. 19th century style, with a black cloak 7 Fencer - white torso and legs. Helmet and sword. 8 Hippie girl - colorful jacket, a normal looking guitar 9 Astrologer - XVI-XVII century outfit with the new white collar, bearded face, sextant and star-map globe 10 Canadian mountain trooper - typical hat, head with sunglasses, red jacket uniform, black legs 11 Sad clown - white pointy cone hat, sad face with a tear, white torso with black pompom buttons and a flower, white legs 12 Criminal mastermind - bald head, scar, self-satisfied grin. Minimal styled grey suit, white cat 13 Grandmother - curly grey hair (same as the sumo wrestler's hair), glasses, a shawl and a pie. 14 Beekeeper - protective suit with net hat, hive 15 Medusa - snakes on head, glowing eyes, screaming mouth 16 Mongol warrior - mongol helmet, head with mongol features- long moustache and beard, armour on torso (same as the samurai's), armour painting on legs, quiver and great bow I tried to think as a LEGO designer. Not too many new molds, reuse of some previous molds, continue some previous lines. And some "fun facts": 14 new molds: golf club, golf bag, Davy Crocket hat, laurel wreath, blond her with small hole, stewardess hat, baton, fencing helmet, guitar, pointy hat, beekeeper's hat, hive, snakes on head, mongol helmet 5 females: stewardess, girl scout, hippie girl, grandmother, medusa 6 historical/fantasy minifigs (my personal favourites): frontier, roman citizen, royal policeman, astrologer, medusa, mongol warrior 2 sportsmen: golf player, fencer 3 modern citizens: stewardess, canadian mountaintrooper, beekeeper Onyl 1 gender counterpart from previous series: hippie girl NO skateboarder/snowboarder/surfboarder/anyboarder Edited September 20, 2012 by Yooha Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Let's think about minifig parts that still need re-using. Series 8: ruff, diving helmet, headphone hair, fairy wings, long hair cowboy hat, santa hat. The Santa's sack could make a great burglar money sack... Quote
popkids Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Not sure I can predict what Lego will come up with in the next CMF series, but I would like to see two minifigs that previously appeared as keychains: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?G=3977b and http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?G=850744 I've been able to build the princess, though without her cloth skirt. The hair and head have appeared in other sets, the torso is (or was) available separately on Bricklink and one of the Harry Potter figs had legs that match the colour. The ambassador could have this flag as an accessory if he did appear: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3596pb03 or this one http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3596p01 Quote
ChrisW Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Not sure I can predict what Lego will come up with in the next CMF series, but I would like to see two minifigs that previously appeared as keychains: Great ideas popkids! I've often wished these were plain minifigs too, although we did get a Fairy in Series 8, which was previously a keychain I think? Incidentally, (I might be showing my ignorance here), but has that Ambassador hat ever appeared on any other minifig in a set? Quote
-GZ- Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) I've already posted my thoughts, but since many people have told here not just about figures that can appear in S9 but even about their dreams, I can edit my list... Last time I haven't enough original ideas, so now I can predict: I BELIEVE in: 1. Asian fisherman with a Ninjago hat - re-use of Sensei Wu's great headgear. Also can contain a fish, but not the regular one but asian ornamental one as a real fish in silver\sand green color! 2. Good Knight, typical fig opposite to the Evil Hog Warrior! 3. Beefeater, with a roof. Another iconic british fig and we have a clue from a designer who influenced many other figs! 4. Basketball player 5. Realistic Astronaut 6. An islander (hope we'll get re-uses of old parts of Pirates theme) 7. A plumber with a plunger (great new part!) 8. Heavy-armoured alien villain, something like evil space-marine. Reuses, or new "evil" heavy armor parts. 9. A chef! Definetly it should have a bread or a cake, and an interesting print not to be a simply CITY cook. 10. A boy, short legs etc. 11. An old woman with light-gray Sumo Wrestler's hear. I WANT to get: 12. Papal Swiss guard soldier - I'm not sure about him. They are quite famous, stereorypical, colorful and wear old-styled armour so one fits great in CM. But I know Lego has no deal wih religious thematic. Hovewer, papal guards are not priests, they are just traditional soldiers like british Royal Guards... There should be a colorful outfit with prints and a morion - hope in metal ('silver') colour at last. We may have a ruff again or another cuirasse, it will be great to re-use a spanish one from Armada sets, even not in chrome. 13. Woman in an old-styled dress. Again based on this famous picture. I've tried to buid one, but the dress seems too big. Hovewer, if we'll put a ruff of a Musketeer's hat with a feather (maibe in blue or other colour) - it looks great, much better than traditional slopes. 14. Again, Russian man, I still want a stereotypical Russian. With a Bofur's new hat (it's much more suitable for Russian than old hat from Orient Expedition) , or just with a Caveman's beard in tan - it looks great in LDD! 15. Any female fig with re-release of Elisabeth Swann hair. Many of contemropary common wigs are from Licences (Indiana Jones mostly). Why not re-release this realistic, great but, unfortunately, very rare piece? 16. A judge with a wig. Not neccesary the wig from no 15. Hope to make some of them in LDD and render in POV-ray for a photorealistic pic.)) Edited September 20, 2012 by -GZ- Quote
SilentMode Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I have no idea what would be in the next series, but I'm going to throw some ideas around... White Knight with white or Light Bluish Grey armour and a sword; Secret Agent (I think I suggested this last time) Bear Suit Guy Mud Man, some all-brown/tan/grey figure with details Ballerina Female Teacher/Librarian Golfer Backpacker with a unique rucksack Referee with the striped shirt and possibly small flag Photographer with camera and satchel Journalist similar to the one in Alien Conquest, except with a pen and pad Jockey Cat burglar with one of those small gems Barista with a tray and coffee mug Cricket Player with a bat and ball. Quote
popkids Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 ChrisW, I haven't checked but I'm almost certain that neither the Ambassador's hat nor his torso ever appeared elsewhere. The early Pirate 'two-ended' hats were in the ballpark, but not the exact same shape. The rest of him is generic and easy to acquire, but it's the hat and torso that make him. The square medals and buttons are a great touch. A shame as his receptions are noted in society. GZ, great ideas! I would take any CMF that could fit into a Pirate setup, especially nobles, civilians, women or Armada, there were always too few of these in a line which split almost all its minifigs into factions. Legomaster34 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Let's see... Female Elf - New hair piece, no cape, and using the same longbow from the other elf. Athena/Greek Goddess - New hair piece with the Roman helmet over top of long hair, sword and round shield. Einstein - New hair piece, tile with scientific formulas printed on it. Baseball Player - Like the other one, but blue instead of red. That's about all I have for now. Quote
kumabot Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Most of these have been mentioned before: 1. brown ninja (doesn't really deserve a whole Ninjago set) 2. Chinese New Year lion dancer costume (new head mold) 3. chef with chef hat and sausage 4. violinist or country fiddler (in cowboy hat?) 5. ballerina with new tutu piece 6. good scientist with microscope or scanner (futuristic/space?) 7. soccer player with big silver trophy (or cricket or rugby player) 8. Native American woman (with hippie hair?) 9. Colonial American soldier (minuteman) 10. Ancient scholar (with scroll and printed toga) 11. Classical composer (with powdered wig and sheet music) 12. dwarf blacksmith with war hammer 13. female equestrian (hair-hat piece similar to Olympic minifig) 14. zookeeper with koala (or panda bear cub?) 15. female businesswoman in suit with briefcase and cellphone 16. female cat-burgler with sack and printed mask head Quote
Lucanik-san Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 (edited) 1) Pig costume 2) Female clown 3) Tramp 4) Dante-looking poet 5) Black skinned guy with dreadlocks 6) Pinocchio-looking puppet 7) Philosopher 8) Female soccer player, why not? 9) Cameraman 10) Female martial arts champion 11) Egyptian soldier 12) Drunken 13) Boogeyman 14) Prisoner 15) Yeti 16) Female volleyball player 13) Death with scythe and black coat. adventuresinlego Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 My guesses would be; Hospital Patient - in gown and with crutches Lion Suit Girl - Lion's head head-piece, tail as back printing Scarecrow - Arms out, not down, with small brown stand Ballerina - Tith tutu piece for around the waist Motown Singer - Microphone on stand Strict Headmaster - Pointing stick and apple Nutcracker Soldier - Trumpet, perhaps? Cat Lady - Comes with a pet cat, maybe 39 Brick Layer - Gold Brick (painted but this might be better for the final series) Magician's Assistant - Head box that spins giving illusion her head is spinning via printing on front side Dairy Farmer or Shepherd - Bucket or Shepherd's pole thingy respectively Indigenous Australian - Boomerang and or Didgeridoo Lady Ghost - Glows pink Gold Rush Digger - Small gold nugget and pan Auteur Film-maker - 8mm Camera, or Clap-board, or Roll of film printed round 4x4 tile Flight Attendant - Tray and Wine Glass Some of these are specifically M/F but others are open to interpretation. Though I would very much like more ethnic characters and more females! I know I'm not alone in that sentiment. But I kind of wish that Lego released the official designs one by one over the course of a week or two to build up momentum. Instead of releasing all at once, but I guess quite often retail and catelogues inadvertently release them unofficially so that would ruin the point. Still, I do look forward to hearing what the next list is going to be. OK now I've done that it's time to go read this thread, and pick out YOUR options to make as minifig MOCs, just because I have nothing better to do this morning and it seems like a good idea. Quote
adventuresinlego Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 pls no more groom with rings. seriously. you take a minifig in suit, give him a ring from lotr and that's it. it doesn't add anything new. not in terms of parts as we already have plenty of black suits torsos, not in terms of figure. nothing. don't make this suggestion, please! I beg to differ- whilst you personally might have lots of black suit torsos, even tuxedos, not everybody does, and something like a wedding tuxedo you need multiples of the same designs for the best man and groomsmen if you want to do a wedding moc, so there fore a groom to go with the bride wouldn't hurt as much to everybody as it would to you sorry to disagree :) Quote

Too many sets are job/theme specific. I love that CMF includes so many civilians, and I'd love a new suit and men's head. I'd also like a ring, and am not particularly interested in LOTR sets. Quote

About the only specific Groom tux I can think of for recent themes is the Modular Town Hall which, good luck buying multiples of that just for the tuxedos haha As it is, the only torso I have in abundance really is the 2010-2011 Hogwarts Gryffindor uniforms, which I kinda want more, and more Slytherin's too haha Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I would certainly welcome a new men's suit variation. I didn't budget for it at the time, but the build a minifigure at LEGO brand retail stores had lots of suit tops in the bin. I ended up buying heads and hats mostly, but I considered getting a few more suits. Maybe at my next visit if they still have any I will pick some up. Quote
