Great addition, because I also was missing some "action" fighting/confronting the monster!

The monster looks good especially it's face looking trhough the gate. The gatehouse and the towers are also well done, they have your style and I like the angles of the wall. I first had to look closely before I noticed the caves. But when I got it, and also saw the path to the caves. I have to say it works for me!

Thanks Ecclesiastes :classic: The towers/gatehouse were really fun to build and are the only parts I haven't taken down already, I like the way they look and you can't use the ballistas without towers :sadnew:

The balista looks much more powerful now and the new rubber band looks much better. glad i could help

It certainly is, I think it shoots twice as far or more! And it makes the whole thing use only official LEGO parts

Thanks again :classic:

what I nice moc you have created here! Absolutely regognizeable as your style and quite a bit going on there. I'm not really convinced of the garden gnomes' hats though, do you think this is really Mitgardian?

Thanks kabel :classic: You may be right about the gnomes hat, I though it helped make the dwarf look old.

Get ready! Here it comes! The balista vid seemed really pointless.

The first video isn't even in the same MOC Beery, it was just meant to show the ballistas work. Try to avoid calling something pointless though- if there is truly a whole topic or comment that is pointless report it to staff.

I think I know what you were trying to say though, it didn't make sense as part of the MOC presentation in your opinion. I could see how it would come off as out of line, so I am glad soccerkid6 took it the proper way here.

Very nice entry! I love the way the dragon's breath is freezing people and sealing the entrance. Your microbuild is awesome too (once I figured out what it was  ) Your walls and the border of your MOC are well done, and I like the crossbows. Great job!

Thank you :classic: Overall I'm happy with it, but I do think I could have portrayed the panic/terror of the moment better. I probably shot myself in the foot using dwarves, they're much harder to do action poses with and half of them have bushy beards that hide their expressions

am I the only one that can't see the photos? the video comes up fine but no photos and the link doesn't work for me

I have the same problem with one PC, McAfee is blocking the host site. Very nice build soccerkid! I especially like the rockwork and the icy atmosphere. Your Elemental is probably more terrifying for being quite realistic, I can imagine this plodding in from the snows and storms. Nice micro idea too. Yes, dwarves are rather limiting, I have foud that too

Great entry!

The design for the Elemental should really be adopted by TLG, as usually their brick built creatures look a bit blocky. This has the visual appeal of a solid figure, like the Cave Troll or similar, without being a big hunk of immobile plastic. Great work on the playability as well! Good Luck!

I love your creature- although I don't find him frightening- I think he is adorable. I think he would get along great with the monster I made for challenge three!

I like all the details you managed on the towers, and the details around the base. I think with the size requirements, you did a really great job with the micro- the villagers going up the back it great.

That creature picked the wrong place to attack, I don't think his ice is going to be enough to beat these dwarfs! Great Job!

Thanks robuko!

Thank you, I was pretty happy with the way he came out too and I my builds always come out quite playable

Thanks Erynlasgalen :sweet: You are totally right about them getting along, yours was actually the main inspiration for mine!

I'm glad you like the towers and microscale. I think this is the first challenge in which my build is actually close to par with most of the entries :classic:

This is to the moment the best construction I have seen from you so far, I like it a lot.

The angle in the walls, the details, the well built elemental.

Is a great work. :classic:

Thank you, I agree this is my best work to date, but I don't think it will last long

Very nice entry Soccerkid! I like the shape of the front walls leading into the gatehouse, i can imagine it would be quite intimidating having to run the gauntlet of those ballista towers. (and props for making them functional too!) The elemental looks pretty sweet and the ice effect is well done, although i would have liked the fight scene to be a little less static. I understand that the rigid dwarf legs can be restricting, but you can get around that by having dropped weapons, fallen defenders, valiant defenders jumping onto the elemental's back etc. I think part of the problem here is that you didn't have very much space for the confrontation to take place... i think 4 or so more studs in any direction would have made the world of difference.

I like your microscale component in the first image, although the backdrop by itself is confusing in scale because of the figures climbing the mountain path - there just isn't the depth to fool the eye into beleiving that the mountain range behind them is anything more than just a section of cliff.

Anyway, great effort overall with a lot of very cool things going on - best of luck! :classic:

Thanks gabe! Great ideas for the fight scene, I'm rather embarrassed I didn't think of any of those ideas  Thanks for all the excellent advice, I'll try to keep it in mind for future builds.

Thanks to everyone who voted for me :sweet:
