Sam892 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 So the news going around is that Batman/Superman although delayed, is still going to start shooting in March. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/johnwilbanks/news/?a=93416 Quote
Faefrost Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 One rather interesting rumor kicking around lately. It seems that Warner Brothers has decided to simply use "Arrow" and it's corresponding version of Green Arrow in their cinematic universe and Justice League movie. Quite frankly I am stunned by this. Arrow is probably the best on screen interpretation of The DC universe since the Bruce Timm animated series. They already have everything they need in place in that show to build and expand the DC universe. Major heroes, major villains, etc. all presented fairly accurately to thei comic forms. I never would have credited Warner Brothers with having the ability to do anything smart regarding their DC properties. Quote
Leo604 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Jesse Eisenberg cast as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred: http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20140131005753/en Jesse Eisenberg is perfect for this, especially with his mastermind-esque performances in The Social Network and Now You See Me. Clone OPatra Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Jesse Eisenberg seems like extremely strange casting to me. He plays nerdy schizophrenic masterminds most of the time, which I guess could be applied to Lex Luthor, but I have a hard time seeing it. Plus Eisenberg is only 31, and I always see Lex as being a bit more established then that. I thought Kevin Spacey was perfect. Jeremy Irons also seems like a pretty odd choice for Alfred. He's a little creepy most of the time. Guess we'll see how it goes. Quote
Ultron Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Jesse Eisenberg is perfect for this, especially with his mastermind-esque performances in The Social Network and Now You See Me. Maybe for a teenage Lex Luthor. He looks and sounds like he's in high school. I don't see him being very intimidating on screen especially when you're going up against batman, superman, and wonder woman.. Quote
K-Nut Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Jesse Eisenberg is perfect for this, especially with his mastermind-esque performances in The Social Network and Now You See Me. Maybe not the best choice, but I like it. He's a good version of a young Lex to go up against Cavill's Superman. Especially if he can emulate Michael Rosenbaum's version. Irons is a good choice for Alfred as well. Definitely one of the best choices out there. He and Affleck can do a good job of portraying the pair. Quote

I can't escape the feeling that they just replaced DC's most menacing and manipulative villain with VECTOR! (err Victor) from the first Despicable Me movie.) Quote
BrickG Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 So they got a 14 year old to play Luthor... Quote
Sam892 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 So they got a 14 year old to play Luthor... You realise he's the same age as Henry Cavill, their both 30. Besides I don't think he's age should be a problem, I mean he can't be as bad as any of the previous incarnations of Luthor in film. Quote
Ceroknight Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 They're 2 great actors, Irons especially so I'd wait before I judge.. Quote

Yeah... but the dudes still gonna need to show ID to buy a drink or a pack of cigarettes until the day he's 65 Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) He might be a good actor, but that doesn't mean he suits the role... As others have pointed out, he looks way too young to play Lex Luthor And now imagine him bald I don't read the comics, so I don't know whether there's a teenage/young adult nerdy version of Luthor, but even if there is, they really shouldn't use that version for a film like that I accepted the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman, but the recent announcement of Gal Gadot (who I had to look up and still have no idea who that is ) as Wonder Woman and now babyface Eisenberg as Luthor really make me doubt this will work in any way. And it's a VS film on top Why can't DC do it the same (sane) way Marvel did? Edited February 1, 2014 by Lego-Freak Quote
Mr Breden Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 He seems way to young to play Luthor, his name makes me want to do a Breaking Bad reference though On the topic of Breaking Bad, I think Bryan Cranston could have made a good Lex.... Quote

Now imagine his annoying voice trying to be intimidate superman. *EDIT* Sorry the picture's so huge.. Edited February 1, 2014 by Luna Lovegood Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Am I the only one here who thinks (save the hair) Eisenberg can actually look the role of Luthor? As for acting, I'll reserve judgement until the movie, he's no "wow" actor, nor is he terrible. Quote

Faefrost Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Hmmm? Interesting? If the rumors are true and the CW's Arrow is in fact part of the new DC Cinematic Universe and the lead up to Justice League, than tonights episode may have taken a big step towards removing the "Nolan'verse" from the equation. I remain stunned at how liberally they are letting this show use major Batman and Teen Titans villains. (Oh and did anyone else catch the potential to a Suicide Squad spinoff in the last episode.) Quote
Masked Builder Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Arrow is getting a third season! I think they should just bight the bullet and go another three. Careful scrolling down on that site, some spoliers for the people who don't know Arrow. Quote
BrickG Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Been watching the DC animated straight to DVD/Blu-ray stuff. They are so hit and miss. And many of the ones that are considered a hit are so overrated. The Batman Returns or Dark Knight Returns or whatever part 1 and 2. Geeze. Seriously people like that? The writing was a joke. The dialogue was so incredibly bad. The Joker... is just nothing compared to Mark Hamill's Joker :P. I really wish they'd get people who don't suck at writing (aka most comic writers) to write this stuff more often. Not to be overly flamey... some are good. I really enjoyed the Green Lantern one (which was much much better than the live movie) and a few others. But seriously... Also... Batman winning against Superman is and always will be bullcrap done just because so many people love Batman and want to see the underdog win. I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying 99% of the time it's done it is done bad. Like suddenly Superman forgets he has superspeed or forgets he can heat vision things from 20 miles up and stuff. And Clark has this way of getting really stupid when he's around Batman. Clark is actually an intelligent guy (I choose to ignore the comics that give him super intelligence which comes and goes) but when Batman is involved for some reason he's as dumb as a brick. Quote
Super Goblin Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 The Dark Knight Returns is based off of the book by Frank Miller and it is pretty accurate to the book. As for having these written by comic book writers, they are, a lot of the writers of DVDs write comics as well. DC does a good job of staying true the comics that head are based on. Quote
BrickG Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 So many scenes are just ridiculous. Like the President being in a radiation suit while addressing the people. The president in general was just the most over the top d00d. Clark freakin' having an bald eagle and striking a pose. The thugs being mindless people incapable of thinking at all and just switching sides in the most extreme manners based on nothing (don't tell me Batman's inspirational speeches or beating up the boss thug was enough to change the incredibly violent ideals of so many people and IMMIDIATELY). It was soooo bad. Soooooo baaaad!!! Quote

It was soooo bad. Soooooo baaaad!!! That was actually in the Frank Miller comic. It was a rather ham handed and contemporaneous commentary on Reagan. It's one of those things that made more sense in the 80's with the Cold War in full swing and really lacks much of the context for it to land as the satire that it was these days. It's why you really should adapt a written property to film, and not simply film it as written. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) So I'm very excited for DC's new series "Gotham" which is set to air this Fall. If you didn't know, T .V series for Hourman and Constantine are also set to appear sometime later this year. Today, the show just got a lot more interesting as a young Bruce Wayne, and Selina Kyle have been cast. Apparently the kid playing Bruce is "annoying" but with all other casting choices for the show in consideration, there's gotta be something about this kid that made DC pick him, they've been doig a great job with the casting so far. Selina Kyle on the other hand, was just so obvious to me. She looks like she could be Michelle Pfeiffer's daughter. Her casting was just so perfect. Selina must not be taken lightly in this cinematic Universe. I really do hope that she is given as much development in this show as possible and then put into theatres, I love Catwoman and hope she's a bit more than a mysterious woman with an erotic twist this time around. Lately, she's been all hero in my opinion, and hope this is portrayed if and when these DC shows merge with the movies. Make Selina the perfect anti-hero, and you have my view DC. It's about time we got this show on the road. And here's the link with the names and pictures of the 2 actors from Comic Vine: ... nevermind I can't post links on a tablet, or don't know how. The_Chosen_1 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that all of the DC shows will "merge" with the current film projects, as all signs point to no on that. There definitely hasn't been any official confirmation in that regard; in fact, that seems to be DC's weak point right now. They just can't seem to unite all of their projects in the way Marvel has. Freddy Bricker Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) There are rumors flying around the internet that Arrow will be a part of the new DC cinematic universe. If this is true, then Flash will be as well. Then adding in Hourman and Constantine should be easy, just as easy s it should be to ignoring them. DC's weakness about not having a big united universe is real' because Man of Steel is the only movie set up in this new universe. Also, may I ask how all signs point to no on the merging of the universes, you did not give any real explanation in your post as to how that was so. Edited March 5, 2014 by Freddy Bricker Quote
