ok, im moving from one city to another, the removalist will have my stuff in storage for a month.

i have about 50 sets MISB to move, and about 1/2 of them are the bigger sets.. (modulars, bigger end SW sets)

i plan on packing my lego myself so no-one knows what it is (insurance, theft etc)..

what im thinking is that i will bubble wrap each set, and fragile sticker the sh!t out of the cartons.

im after anyone who has done this already.. that has do's and dont's, and past experience. all advice is welcome

I suppose you're the box keeper type. If so, then bubble wrap would be sufficient enough. If opts good enough for S@H... Otherwise, I don't see a need for bubble wrap or fragile stickers. Just put them in boxes, tape them up and call it a day. I don't really think there's any secrets or tricks to packing unopened sets.

Indeed. The sets are already in box. Put the set boxes into larger boxes. Job done. It doesn't get much easier than that.

Try moving several dozen fragile MOCs from one country to another (which is what I did a few years ago). That's when things get interesting.

Boxed sets are easy enough to move. I moved a year ago and just let the movers handle my 80-odd MISB sets (as well as all my boxes), without doing any of my own packing. They delivered everything in 2 or 3 days though. If it will be in storage for a long time, it may make sense to put them in larger boxes so it isn't obvious what they are.

I took all the built models and loose parts myself, which was manageable in two trips with my minivan.

For an added security measure, label the boxes you will put them in as something boring, like photo albums or clothes.

Could you use a tea chest or other stiff/wooden crate if you're concerned about crush damage? Should be fine with a decent cardboard box though

Not sure about that. Might make the movers think its not fragile. And movers aren't going to be thinking 'oh I wonder if this box has several desirable MISB sets', they are more likely to be thinking 'oh, Lego'

If anything, I'd mark it crockery or similar so they won't pile a ton of boxes on top

Use boxes to store those MISB LEGO sets, and get those sponge type materials to act as cushion or used newspaper. Indicate it as fragile and request them to handle with care. If stacking is required, then ask them to stack boxes of LEGO types ONLY or other lightweight boxes for compactment.

Some of my old storage images which is still in that same condition even till this very moment, hope it helps.

When I moved i got a ton of archive boxes and such for the bigger sets and put them in with light towels around the sides to keep them still, loaded up a van (Think i got 15 - 18 boxes a time only in single level (Also it kept the boxes wedged in sinc ei covered the entire floor and drove them myself taking it easy on the drive.

Worked out only taking me 1-2 runs for the lego (Including all my other personal items i didn't want the movers touching so 3-4 runs for all items) incase you want to go this route and can borrow a van. though I was moving to a place only around 40 minutes from my previous home.
