Rikpro Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) operapost by Riccardo Prosperi, on Flickr This is the first MOC I've ever built from scratch, having previosly just dabbled in reverse-engineering other people's creations... Here's a link to the real building: Opera Nouvel Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to replicate the small arches at this scale, but I think the model gives a fair general impression of the Opera House. I'm eager to hear your comments, critiques and advices! Edited August 11, 2012 by Rufus Indexed Quote
moctown Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 This one is really nice and even your presentation (picture) looks great! Compared to the original maybe the section between the area of the windows (arches) is a bit too thick/too high ...? You did a great job with the roof and I like the whole thing! I'm very much looking forward to see more stuff like this from you! Go ahead Quote
LEGOfan123 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Great MOC! I think that it looks excellent! Off-topic: 100th post! Quote
Rikpro Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) Compared to the original maybe the section between the area of the windows (arches) is a bit too thick/too high ...? Thanks for your comment! You're right about the section between the two rows of columns being a little too thick: problem is that the section above the upper row is structural, since it keeps the whole roof in place, and I couldn't make it any thinner. For the sake of keeping the visual balance of the building I decided to make the lower section in the same way and, as a result, the whole thing is a little "stockier" than the original. Btw, as I was talking about reverse-engineering other people's MOCs...my first successfull attempt was your Metlife Building! Great model and I had a lot of fun trying to understand how you had done it! Edited July 31, 2012 by Rikpro Quote
