this is an extremely good set. i just love that matte silver armor, helmet, visor and sword. so yummy! *wub*

the skeleton's armor/helmet is just a rehash of vladek's, including the platemail. :'-( but it's still good. ;-)

edit: if you look at this picture carefully you will notice in the background the FLAIL is not made up of chain links. that SUCKS!

Indeed it does. I mentioned that earlier, how Megablokish that was *sad* Ah well, something to trade then ;-)

Yes the weapon is a Flail, a Morning Star is basically the spiked ball on top of a stick/handle any Diablo player would know that! ;-)

Flail

Morning Star

I'm not sure if that is strictly true, as the term morningstar has also been used to describe a spiked flail (see also the term "holy water sprinkler"). I'm not sure, but I believe the term "morningstar" describes the head of the weapon rather than the weapon itself. This spiked head is seen both on both flails and maces. Still, flail is probably a better term to describe the new weapon LEGO is producing.

Honestly, I'm going to end up doing a lot of bartering and trading this year to get rid of those skeletons. I was hoping that one set would be devoid of these guys, but it looks like I'll have to trade them away. It will make collecting those Knights VERY, VERY expensive!

I know why we don't have women anymore in LEGO sets! Because the menfigs dislike the womenfigs! You don't belive me? Just look at the center of this pics... (European catalog from 1991)

Good... though this would most certainly be a good thing to get in "lots" if the skeleton competitior was replaced with a jousting knight (another human) in different colours like red. :-)

This catigory is awsome its nice to see lego making big armies insted of just four heros aginst a ton

of black knites *knight* .I love the zombie army and there new horses but the wagon thing looks

kind of boring not much detail. *skull* That castle is by far the best castle lego has ever made!!!

I'm saving up to buy all these the second they come out! :-)

Ugh, it looks like the silver Euroarmor will need the front brasso'd to be of use *sad*

Indeed.

I kind of wish that LEGO would figure out that alot of fans DON'T want heraldry on their minifig's breastplates because it limits the usefulness of the brick. I was hoping to arm some of my Lion. Black Monarch and BFs with this silver armour. Kind of useless to do so now. Also, if the armour is silver-finished rather than a silver coloured plastic, brasso will probably remove the finish as well (doesn't really matter to me as I refuse to brasso any LEGO bricks anyways).

Man... that picture Alex posted got made me all nostalgic. :'-) Makes me want to just go crazy on ebay and Bricklink instead of waiting for the new line...

Same here :'-)

I'm sure it's silver plastic, I'd bet on it. And you could always send them to me to Brasso ;-) :-D

It's not really modifying that much, the brick remains the same, just a layer of print is removed. But to each his own, eh?

Not too keen on the armour crown emblems. However, if it was a black armour with a dragon or a skull printed on it, I would sure want one. I wonder what emblem the skelton knight's armour has....

Everything else looks sweet tough. I love the skeltons' faces (they will look WONDERFUL on my liches), now I can make my self fig.

Off topic, but sometimes, I like to look at those old catalogues... I could spend some hours, with all those memories...

Thanks to these new toy fair images, we now know why there is a hole in the Castle wall. It's obvious now that it is a break away wall.

You have a good eye...

Well.... so send in the vikings and just catapult them into the ground.... >:-)

One thing I noticed that I dont like is that the knight seems to have a plain grey torso underneath the armour (just like the knights in the last few KK sets). Id really like to see a simple chainmail shirt, or a torso with heraldry underneath the armour instead of just plain grey :'-(

i dont think it is going to be grey. the box is probably better indicator than the prototypes in the toyfair. the box arts have the knights in dark blue, and the horse's padding too was in dark blue vs the prototypes which were in gold.

I thought the boxes were prototypes and the toyfair were the final product (? 8-| ?)

Actually, I suspect that the Toy Fair pictures are a better indicator. The box photos are obviously very early prototypes. For one thing, the barding on the original box pics features the old KKII print, whereas the print at the Toy Fair features the new heraldry (the crown). Furthermore, the boxes feature old prints for the skeleton heads, whereas the Toy Fair shots feature a new print with red eyes.

Remember that there are in fact two distinct bardings shown at the Toy Fair, and that the chaffron (horse's head protection) was featured in both dark blue and gold. It is just as possible that the final product is a combination of the early dealer catalogue shots.

As for the printed armour... NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I may not be happy about it, and I may be an incurable purist, but I will be collecting this faction. I am simply disappointed by the limitations these prints place on the brick. I have every intention of grabbing about 30 of these Crown minifigs, breastplate printing or not.

Anyone noticed that on the castle pic from Toyfair there's a normal skeleton (look at its arms)?

I did!

* Is it just me or is the white skeleton near the middle of the picture the classic model?

Along with many other observeations and questions that nobody answered. :-/

I only saw one of the Naboo fighter figs, looked like a full grown WWII soldier. Did anyone see the other? That was the only thing I was looking forward to from Star Wars. :-/

* What are all those "things" in the advent calendar? It looks like the mundane themes, construction, firemen etc. but what are the bricks supposed to repersent? I don't get it.

* Is that Dark Wizard Ogel hat printed?

* The Castle Female looks nice, but of course, the angle of the picture is just so so head is hidden.

* That lightning is weird, especially when put on a stick and used as a weapon. 8-|

* The King in the large castle has a chrome gold greatsword! 8-
