phoinix Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 i havent bought anything castle for 13 years and this just may be the year i will expand my topic interests! just looking at that picture makes me want to buy them! skeleton horses!!!GREAT!!! i keep on thinking how it would be if we got these sets when we were kids... back when the knights where always smiling and there weren't any skeletons... are these sets ok for the children of today? seems like unhappy and ungry faces are all children play with these days.. and then i think about playmobil... happy faces in battle selling very well so is this just TLC choice to go violent and ungry and sceary? when did children stop going "bang bang" and started going "you are dead i cut your head of" anyhow...thats just me and my ongoing thinking.... the sets rock...but hey im 27... why do these sets rock if you are 7? should THESE toys rock if you are 7 or should you build a lego house? Canadian prices? Are these actual Canadian prices, or a rough conversion from the original list price in another country? Remember, right now Canada has about the worst LEGO pricing in the world, so if these are actually converted from a foreign price, the true Canadian price could be disasterous. As is, Crossbow attack seems quite expensive, and King's Castle Seige is going to be a tough set to buy if it costs more than that. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 I'm most impressed with the two different opposing forces, esp. the army of undead summoned by the Ogel Wizard. The horses look really interesting; can't wait to see a closer look. The castle has a somewhat classic look but still reminds me of KK, not sure why. It's really neat to see Lego going this route with castle. It reminds me more of Vikings than Classic Castle though- but that's not a bad thing. Quote

I think Lego represents the feel of the culture now. I would much rather see smiling faces for kids (for me, I like it - but I'm an adult) - just like the Harry Potter Graveyard. (sorry about the double post. Usually adding a reply/quote adds to the 1st message, but not this time). Quote
BenTheLegoManiac Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 In the background there seem to be giants on the evil side of the mountain. *skull* Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Very Lord of the Rings-like. On another note, a lich would have fit in nicely with this theme. Quote
natelite Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 In the background there seem to be giants on the evil side of the mountain. *skull* yup...i saw that too. could be this? http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=430697 my two cents on this new theme: great improvement. definitely going to be a hit. nice color scheme: dark blue and bley. nice large brim helmet. the crown faction castle looks nice, but definitely has a lot of large parts. the two front towers were made from 2 tone (grey and green) "stone" bricks. i see a knight (far background on the bridge) with the old pointy visor of old. we also see a return of the grill helmets (worn by the 4 horsemen). the skeleton carriage is fantastic! would have love to see a lich king but i can settle for a necromancer too. so what if they recycle ogel's head...it still fits the role! the new skeleton's blade looks funny. it seems too large (see the skeleton on the bridge). i think a scimitar is much better. like the one used by the trans-clear prototype. definitely looking forward to summer 2007!!! cant wait to see all the 5 sets! p.s. is that a second prisoner located at the foot of the skeleton tower? i can make out the kite shield with the shield emblem, but cant really see who or what is holding it. Poonagi Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 here are the trolls/giants zoomed up. i also wondered why nobody was talking about them at all. i had this posted on c-c.com but nobody seemed to care. hehe. seems like a cool new fig/mold. Quote
Darkness Falls Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Those... troll-giant things look a little too unimportant to be part of the line, though... they just seem added in. If they did show up, I'd be totally psyched. Quote
BearHeart Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 WAWAWEEWEE!!! *skull* Ok, I can understand how some people would not like this,as it is nothing like Classic Castle. However, in my opinion, CASTLE 2007 IS GONNA ROCK!!! Here is what I like about it: 1) Generic soldiers: No more 'heros' or 'characters' 2) Nice color scheme for both factions 3) OLD SWORDS ARE BACK (everyone wanted this) *y* 4) That dragon looks very cool: is not bionicle and not one big mold. *y* 5) Weapons and armor have a chrome look to them 6) New skeletons and skeleton horses. 7) That castle looks HUGE! 8) The evil wizard rocks, that evil wagon looks cool 9) New weapons (flail, curved sword), new shields What I dont like: 1) Redisigned skeletons, what am I gonna do with my old ones? 2) That skull castle looks iffy :-/ ... thats about it Looks like there is gonna be some background story to this, kind of like Aquaraders, which is ok. Also, its another conflict based theme. Quote
BearHeart Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 I dont those monsters on the mountain are part of the actual theme Quote
Wobo Ihi Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 And what the heck are these guys up to? :-P Quote
JoeMI6 Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 This looks sick. It seems like it'll be a magnet for my cash in 2007. Quote
mrts Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 there also seem to be black skeletons and black skeleton horses... That Lich would be awsome, brickster! *skull* Quote
El Bucanero Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 What I dont like:1) Redisigned skeletons, what am I gonna do with my old ones? Luckly, the old skeleton are still sold in the aquaraider sets... Quote
natelite Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 well, the broad swords seem to be in pearl-grey and the helmets in new silver (like the chief fireman's hat). one thing i notice about the skeleton horse is that the legs may be easily broken. they are much thinner than the regular horse's legs. the skeleton's arms are similar to SW's droid's arm, although it seems they may be able to hold things straight instead of at a 90 degree angle (gangsta style). dont think the wrist will turn like regular minifig's. edit: i think the shield at the foot of the skeleton tower belongs to the evil faction. looks more like the one that the black skeleton horseman is weilding instead of the human knight's. so, the thing at the foot of the tower seems to be a weapon cache. BaronSat Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Hello, First thanks to Jipay to have shared this photo. Skeleton army and skeletons horses ... wow, I love this idea! I wonder what will be the next sets from TLC in the future??? Maybe some kind of "space marines" fighting some kind of xenomorph (creatures that Warhammer players could call "Genestealers"). ;-) And I also wonder if the new designers from TLC are board gamers or if they do listen us when we cry for such sets??? I love horrible creatures >:-) the skeleton's arms are similar to SW's droid's arm, although it seems they may be able to hold things straight instead of at a 90 degree angle (gangsta style). dont think the wrist will turn like regular minifig's. That's what the skeleton on front looks like but the others in the back holds their weapons straight see (close up). Does it means wrists turns or there are different kind of arms???? Quote

And we havent seen individual set photos yet, so, for all we know, Crossbow Attack could have 52 pcs and a skelly and warrior. So just wait and see. On those trolls- I see them using Exo-Force hands, so they might be real. But they look too <insert that tiresome argument>. Quote
BearHeart Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 One thing Im hoping for is that they flesh out (sorry for the pun) the skeleton faction a bit, maybe with late 2007 or 2008 sets. I'd like to see more variety in the skeleton faction like maybe green skeletons (ala HP Graveyard Duel), bigger 4 armed skeletons (along the lines of the General Grevious design), maybe skeleton dogs/hound or some sort of other undead creatures like zombies or gouls. Quote
Skinny Boy Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 It just looks like Alpha Team meets Castle- The evil wizards head is OGELs head and the soldier fighting the skellie in the front has a smile that looks like Dash??? EDIT: The Evil castle thing (HQ) has a skull like OGELs Bases have had. The Woman in the cage ( to me) looks like Radia or someone from Alpha Team Quote
jamtf Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Looks like everything is a bit inspired on Lord of the Rings. A king's castle being threatened by an evil wizard with a flying dragon and a horde of undead skeletons (instead of orcs) at his disposal. We will see what castle 2007 brings, it certainly looks a lot better than KKII but so far wel have not been able to see a genuine set of the new castle line. Lego seems to be mixing up parts from other themes as well (Ogel's face from Alpha Team for the evil wizard, the king's head is actually a viking head). Also, lots of new parts such as the skeleton horses and the weapons. They seem to have produced trainloads of white horns (see the evil castle and the evil carriage). It looks promising and I am anxiously awaiting the first release of sets. This looks like an interesting follow-up for sets such as 8813 battle at the pass and the 10176 king's castle which were encouraging new sets. Quote
