BobBongo1895 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Ok, it`s the time to enter the next Coaster Level. Regarding to these threads, I will start a new coaster topic. Gijserman Failed job of myself Zblj Let`s get started folks. Coaster-2946 von BobBongo auf Flickr My version of a coaster chaise Coaster-2942 von BobBongo auf Flickr Upstop and sidefriction wheels to roll the track. Chaise-2915 von BobBongo auf Flickr Coaster-2956 von BobBongo auf Flickr Homebase with a transfer track. Coaster-2949 von BobBongo auf Flickr Blockbreak to get several trains on track. Coaster-2958 von BobBongo auf Flickr I´m still missing my BL order to get started with the first meters (feet) of the track. Pin Connectors, I´ll need much more Pin Connectors...... And No, there will be no loop after the "Inverted" desaster. A big, big thank you to Zblj for the hint. You gave me a lot of new inspiration. Stay tuned.... Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) Hopefully we get to see some updates on the buildingproces as soon as possible. The things you've shown us look fantastic. Edited August 5, 2012 by JunkstyleGio Quote
kieran Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I will be keeping an eye on this one, hope it all works when connected up, looks good so far Quote
captainmib Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 This is soooo cool, what a great idea! Hope everything will work as planned... Quote

BobBongo1895 Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Just a short update of the first testdrive, after recieving the pin connectors. It´s working. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Just a short update of the first testdrive. You can say that again. Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Seems to work really good! I like the way you mounted the rails in the center, very good mounting point. How many pins did you order? Think you might need over 5000? Edited August 6, 2012 by Zblj Quote
Sam42 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Very nice! The track runs a lot better than I thought it would! Quote
z3_2drive Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 sweet coaster, but thats pretty expensive for a decent size track. How many joiners do you plan to buy? lemme guess, OVER 9000! Quote
S.I Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Have you tried/thought about mounting the wheels of the cars in a V shape at the sides? so: \ / o o / \ to reduce friction? Quote
BobBongo1895 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 Hey ho, to test the system, I ordered 450 Pin Connector. For the final working version I will need round about 3000 of them. The price is still ok, I paid 60€ for the 450 connectors and the necessary short axles. The V-Shape is maybe a solution to reduce friction, but this is not the way a real coaster work these days. My next step in the building process is the testing of a drop and the following hill. stay tuned.... Klaus Quote

BobBongo1895 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 Haha, what a cute little minifig coaster, is it yours? Any links or additional pics? And yes, I will build a coaster in a style like that one, you`ve posted, but it will be more a "Gerstlauer" coaster type. Here is a another short video of a drop test. It´s still running smooth and fast, a bit too fast. It´s possible to reduce the height of the hill. Now it´s time to get a layout and money for extreme bricklinking, have fun and stay tuned.... Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Very Good Bob, Your Super Bongo ride get's more and more shape and i think that the most off us can't waight too see more Quote
The Blue Brick Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 This is absolutely awesome. I love how there is a hill now. i can't wait to see more updates. Quote

Crazydance Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Can't wait to see the final model, looks great. Whoa! As a rollercoaster fan I can't get enough of these models. This one looks nice and works quite well! I'm following this one really close! Quote
Carsten Svendsen Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Nice, may I know what you put inside the pin joiners to make the turns and banks? Rigid hose? Quote
BobBongo1895 Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 It´s a very easy and cheap answer, I just used the simple black technic pins. Ok it´s stress for the pins, but I don´t care about it. Quote
Carsten Svendsen Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Ah ok, so the banking in the video is the smallest turn that's possible to create from this solution? I think that turning the pins the right way around will cause less stress on them (but still a lot though) meaning that the end parts of the pin needs to be placed vertically of the way the track needs to be oriented. They would still be unusable after a couple of weeks though - just like my axles on my airplane Quote
Gijserman Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I'm working on a new type of coaster based on the same concept as your one Now I just need thousands of pin joiners... Anyone? Quote
