Just a question:

How well would one of the elephants from 7414 Elephant Caravan or 7418 Scorpion Palace work as the basis for a Mumakil from Lord of the Rings?

Thanks in advance,

You probably won't be able to make an exact copy of the LOTR one using that elephant ;-) . If you really want a huge Mumakil, build one out of bricks, I'm sure there are some examples on BS. If you just want people riding and elephant, this CC page might help you :-) .

I think you could use the head of the elephant and add it to a custom build body.

Yes, I agree. That head is too small for the body in the first place, especially the trunk, so just make you own larger body, it's too perfect.

This picture contains some Mumakils made with the Lego elephant. The best ones I have seen so far.

Looks not that bad!!! But IMO a Mumakil has to be much bigger than those. I would try to build it with bricks, too!

I think the gold is paint, it looks like paint, a believe those helmets didn't came in gold...

EDIT:

This is only one pic, is there a folder too?

Thanks for all the replies, those Mumakil bonaparte showed were around what I had in mind- The Two Towers says an Oliphaunt is as big as a house to a hobbit, so those are the size I'd want.

Thanks everyone!

The address on the address bar displays like this;

--------------------------http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Mumakil/Easterlings/lotr_005.jpg

Here is the anatomy of the URL, / Brickshelf / user's main page / sub-folder / file

So chop of the 'file section' and it should get you to the parent folder.

There you san see some protruding Dark Grey, so yes it is obviously painted (as the official bricks do not come in gold).

Thanks... I just noticed this guy made some brilliant Easterlings!
