I don´t really like cars but I love the challenge to build theirs mechanism, suspension, steering, gearbox, chassis and all the bodywork. Between machine and machine I like to rest building them, do you have any suggestion?, what scale is the best?, normal one or the big like in my R8. I want to find with your help my next car. I will star it when I finished the machine.

This is you new idea? Why not make it as small as possible? You can fit a rear solid axle in a very small chassis and use the small front suspension like TLg uses in quads.

Not bad, but where is the challenge in a small place...? I want to put gearbox and everything :sweet: , and not this isn´t the idea you gave me.... DLuders... do you like this car?, I am spanish... but this car is

Well... The challenge would of course be to put all that into as small a frame as possible. Here is an example for you. It's Nathanael Kuipers Pony car. He managed to fit independent fornt suspention, a live rear axle, working steering wheel, fake engine and a working gearbox. What more is there? It's one of my favorite MOCs of all times!

Well if you want ideas for another challenge, here's a thought or twenty, don't use any panels! Why, personally I think they are ugly on a supercar model (no offence!). It's just that, the second most important feature of a supercar (the first being how it goes with it's transmission and so on) is it looks. If a supercar does not look like a supercar, then it's not a supercar. So what makes a car look good? Is it covering every square millimeter with a panel? NO! It's the lines, the curves my friend! Your eyes must be drawn to them and not be distracted by a patchwork of panels that fail to cover up everything. To this day I maintain that 8880 is the best looking thing i've ever seen made from Lego, cos it has those lines and nothing to distract your eye from those lines. But of course 8880 can be improved upon. There was too much ground clearence and the designers only had straight beams to create the illusion of curved lines, but now with flexible axles and a much lower ride height a much better looking car can be made. Now i'm not saying that it's easier to make a car look good without panels, it's harder, so I understand the temptation to use them. But whilst ditching the panels is harder, there is more potential. Like how an f1 car is much harder to drive than a ford mondeo, it's harder but there's more potential for speed! The designers of 8880 pulled off a few miracles. With straight studded beams they created the illusion of sculped, curved lines. With a few thin black lines they transformed a mostly grey chassis into a black supercar. So how about building a new 8880? Not a direct studless remake, but a totally new, sleeker, smoother, more streamlined and faster looking 8880. Make it big like the R8, keep it black with the yellow stripe and a white, gorgeous looking interior. Don't allow the gearbox to consume the entire chassis, keep it compact like a real car. And make it look proffesional by the mid 90's standards, not like the MOCish looking sets of today, don't allow anything that looks like it's there just to fill a gap and keep the lines as smooth, crisp and uninterupted as possible. Anything else I can think of to make it harder? Oh, do something new, like electric power steering.

Yup, that should keep you busy for a while

What about a car that isn't as exotic? Maybe something like a Lotus Exige? The transverse engine/transmission would be something different. Maybe a front engine car, like the Aston Martin Vanquish? The Aerial Atom would be another nice car, even if its been done before.

I was thinking what Lotus was the Exige?, I didn´t know it but it seems that the exige in my country always was the Lotus Elise  The problem with the small supercars is the size of the wheels, they are too big in comparison with the car and then you have no place, I have thought in the Mclaren F1 too but with this is the same problem. Aston Martin now is on my list the problem will be the colour... green will be awesome...

Why not make something small like caterham:

Less space, more challenge.

I'm going to do something in JDM style (japanese domestic market) . Wanna build car with low clearance and crazy negative camber, big steering angle. The most competitive at this knid of Moc is adjustable suspension. Think about it;)

Shame that white color is rare... :hmpf_bad:

I'd love to see you build one

There is a difference between an elise and an exige. The elise is the standard car, with less power. The exige is a hardcore roadlegal racecar, with a more powerful engine and stiffer suspension. The biggest difference (from the outside) is the spoiler and the air intake on the roof. Just google some pictures.

I just built a small scale elise, with suspension, steering, 6-speed gearbox and fake engine. I forgot to make an eurobricks thread, going to make that right after this.

I really enjoy building smaller scales, and I'm currently trying to make an RC Evora, with RC gearbox in the same scale. Body will be made of hoses, with maybe some panels, instead of the creator-like looks of the elise.

Building real supercars like ferrari, lambo and so on is very popular and for me boring. Try something less exotic, for example classic bmw 2002 ti or nissan 180sx. Classic civil cars are easy to build - they are not so rounded like sportcars

Lancer or skyline is a good choice. But for me buidin 4 wd and gearbox is yesterdays stage ( especially when you have all details for that like independent suspension) its more interesting to concentrate your mind on building body, salon, adjustable suspension....

Thank you for information I am looking forward to see your car. rm8 your idea is good too, build a old car has some vantages, gearboxes with less gears more room to other mechanism  Build a old M3 will be great, another car on my list.
