What exactly is a defended counter?

Adam is of the berserker class. A die roll of 4 is Defended Counter - which means he receives normal damage but strikes back with his weapon power. Look up Berserker for more information - which reminds me: in the berserker class, he's not able to change targets until the chosen target is defeated.

The next round of the battle will be up soon.

After all these successful hits, Adam lives up to the standard and hits the first Demon Frog with a furious hit, causing 30 damage to the frog. Erdy then receives 15 damage from free hits, Monk receives 1 damage, and Adam 4 damage.

That worked wonderfully!

Of course, that is beside the part where I lost half of my health from free shots. :hmpf:

Battle Order

Erdathcath applies venom to her Handcannon

Monk Pretzal (You should probably keep attacking the smaller enemies. go after the Red Viper, as it has a higher level than the others)

"I wouldn't want to risk activating the red viper's special at this time, so I will instead attack Green Viper C from the front row.

Perhaps, instead of applying venom, you should heal yourself. I don't know how useful the venom would be for this fight anyway."

Posted

Hmm, good point about the venom. I'll update the battle order. However, if you attack the red viper, I will end up losing less health from free hits. Plus, if the red viper does release it's power, everyone would gain 3 health, which would be useful for me and Adam, and wouldn't really do much for the Demon Frog. It would also bring another snake, but that shouldn't be too bad. Plus, there is a low chance of your getting special damage from it.

Battle Round Three:

Monk Pretzel vs. Magic Red Viper - Damage

Evil Frog A - free hit on Erdy - 4 damage

Evil Frog B - free hit on Adam - 9 damage

Green Viper B - free hit on Monk - 1 damage

Green Viper C - free hit on Erdy - 4 damage

Erdy nutures herself restoring herself to full health. Adam is distracted by a rare bird flying overhead and is hit in the face by the Demon Frog's rancorous ribbit - Adam is confused for three rounds. Monk is damaged by the Magic Red Viper, and is hit with 6 damage. Erdy strikes at the Demon Frog for hurting her friends ( :cry3:) and hits him with 27 damage. Erdy is then hit with 8 damage from free hits, Adam receives 9 damage and Monk only 1, as usual.

"What do we do about Adam? If he attacks one of us, we're probably done for with the free hits we'll be getting. I will almost certainly have to stick to the back row. Oh, wait, would your nurturing him remove his confusion?"

Posted

Well, that couldn't have gone worse. :hmpf:

Ok, here is what we'll do, as Adam is confused, we could try to nurture him, if that doesn't take away the confusion, he could just sit in the back row and do nothing. Do you think that would work?

Posted

"My mind is a bit muddled right now, but you could try a similar battle order and actions to last time. If you attempt to nurture Adam you will most likely succeed though. You can also make your battle action dependant on what those before you do though, so if you fail you can either try again or Adam can sit back. If you have Adam sit back though, it may be a good idea for me to target the other demon progg so he won't get a free hit against you, and then you can still hope to use your roots of life ability. If that works out then Adam can still fight."

Sorry, I've got to run, will hopefully think up something useful, but just see what the worst results could be of using this kind of battle order or something similar, if you don't mind.

Posted (edited)

"Adam and I should fight from the back row on the odd chance that you fail in your nurturing of Adam.

Another thing I just realized is that I do double damage to the demon frogs due to my diamond imbued cross. I should have started out attacking them rather than Adam doing so, but, unfortunately Adam cannot change his target until it is defeated due to his berserker nature, so... :sceptic:

You should probably keep targetting them though, because if possible, we don't want to have their special activated unnecessarily."

Battle Round Four:

Adam vs. Demon Frog B - Defended Counter

Monk Pretzel vs. Magic Red Viper - Miss

>Erdy vs. Demon Frog A - Critical Hit / Special Guard

Evil Frog A - free hit on Erdy - 4 damage

Evil Frog B - free hit on Adam - 9 damage

Green Viper B - free hit on Monk - 1 damage

Green Viper C - free hit on Erdy - 4 damage

Erdy nutures the whole party to full health and un-confuses poor Adam. Adam, still slightly doozy from being confused, is hit with 15 damage from the demonic amphibian but hits him back with causing 9 damage to the frog. Monk twirls around and misses the snake altogether. Erdy then slams the demon frog causing 37 damage. Erdy is then hit with 8 damage from free hits, Adam receives 9 damage and Monk only 1, as usual.

Erdy attacks the magic red viper but is bitten by the nasty snake. To her surprise she feels slightly revived, but to her regret also notices Green Viper D joining the battle. All party members and enemies gain an additional 3 health from the magic viper. Adam, reinvigorated shouts and mighty war cry and encourages the entire party! Monk, feeling encouraged (I wonder why ), hits the Demon Frog causing 88 damage! Erdy then hits one of the evil frogs causing 52 damage. The party is also hit by free hits, Erdy 4 damage, Adam 6 damage, and Pretzel only 2.

It probably makes more sense, if we decide to give him a potion, that I do the honours rather than you, because I feel like I should catch my breath after delivering the hit I did, but it's up to you. Normally, your hits are heavier, but due to my Diamond-embued cross I guess not. It depends on you."

Pretzel: Attack Demon Frog A (Front Row)

Erdathcath: Attack Evil Frog B (Back Row)

"I would go first in the battle order to prevent you from getting as many free hits, but if I go first then there is the possibility that I could be knocked out this round, whereas you will be low on health, but under no immediate danger, but if you see a better way to go about it, then that's good too. Alternatively, as I mentioned, I could heal or use a grand potion on Adam, you could then make my action conditional on whether or not you heal him."

OOC: REALLY sorry about the delay. I completely lost internet for the past few days, though I am back now, and will post the battle order.

Considering their slightly better situation, Erdathcath prepares herself for the next round of battle.

Erdathcath: Heal Adam

Adam: Attack Demon Frog B (Front Row)

Pretzel: Attack Demon Frog A (Front Row)

Erdathcath: Attack Evil Frog B (Back Row)

Considering that we are somewhat low on health, this is probably the best idea.

Party leader, please choose battle order. And both of you choose your actions (and remember to choose Adam's actions too, please).

Auto-roll, anyone?

I would be up for auto-rolling, but I am afraid we'll die too quickly from free hits. Also, considering the fact that once Demon Frog A is killed, Demon Frog B leaves, so we would have to adjust for that.
