Heroica RPG - Quest #42: The Meaning Of It All

[Khorne]

Eric took a quick look at what the doctor had to offer. The Nord then took both brews in his hand for closer examination. Uncorking them, he sniffed to catch the scent of what was inside. Confident in his choice, Eric went with Stickleback Brew. He put away the brew and prepared to get going.

[Palathadric]

The elf starts laughing for no apparent reason, in the middle of my monologue. I ignore the member of the foolishly gay and lively race and observe Eric pretending to be concerned over which beverage he took off our guest.

"Don't be shy, youngling! We all know you're an drunkard. Go ahead and take the mead!"

[Flare]

The three heroes drink their drinks and feel new power surging through them! Eric and Monk Pretzel each have a permanent boost of +2 health, and Erdy has a permanent boost of +2 ether.

The heroes nod in gratitude and start on their way to the Demon Frog Valley. They travel for the full day on a mountain path, going up and down.

By the time night falls the terrain has smoothed out but it is still fairly rocky. The heroes stop for the night to rest without disturbance.

Unfortunately her telescope does not allow her to see the future, and anyways, its dark out, and it doesn't work very well during the night because its too dark to see anything.

"At least I'm man enough to hold my drink, old coot!" the Nord snarled. Eric sat down in the grass. If he had a Bedroll, he would've unrolled it, but unfortunately he sold it some time ago to buy more Mead. It seemed that this meant Eric was going to spend his night out in the open once more. He could take it. He was tough enough to sleep outside on the cold ground.

Eric couldn't quite catch his sleep, though. The Brew had granted him renewed energy and vigour. He felt stronger than ever before.

I notice Eric lying down without his bedroll.

"The way of drunkards. They sell off what possessions they have in the endless pursuit for more ale to satisfy them. As it turns out, it seems the you made a wise choice in not taking the mead, eh? Perhaps you will remember this lesson in the future. I pray you will for I have seen the quantity of the vile drink you carry about with you wherever you go. Believe me, young man, this endless drinking shall be your end. You can count on it."

With that said, I proceed to hold my magnifying glass over Erdy's telescope in an attempt to search for traps at a distance.

"Bah, humbug! I shall take the first shift. I suppose one of us three must stay awake at all times, in case of any roving cuthroats out to steal drink. "

Get your magnifying glass away from my telescope, you'll get pretzel crumbs on the lens, and ruin it!

I snort at Eric, "As usual the young fellows these days are the last to offer their services for any inconvenient task."

Palathadric attempts to hold his magnifying glass over Erdy's telescope, but discovers something interesting before Erdy pulls her telescope out of the way. He discovers... that... it is dark outside!

[Flare]

Eric and Erdy lay down to rest. Monk Pretzel stays awake for the "first shift", nibbling on pretzels to keep him awake. He sees nothing suspicious, probably because the night doesn't look suspicious.

He falls asleep before waking up Erdy for the second shift. This mistake would cause a terrible chain of events...

The sun is slowly rising. Eric wakes up, sweating like a maniac. Actually, it wasn't sweat, there was a rabbit sitting on him, peeing. Erdy and Pretzel happen to wake up at the same time, a complete coincidence. Lets hope that Erdy helps that piece of dirt to fulfill its true destiny, or else the world might explode at any moment, for no apparent reason.

Erdy wakes up to a wonderful morning, suddenly realizing she never was woken up to watch. "Oh well," she thinks, "The monk probably forgot, or just simply didn't feel like waking me up. So kind of- wait, what am I thinking."

She quickly gathers up all her stuff, and takes a quick look through her telescope again, hoping to find what awaits them, and her piece of dirt.

[Khorne]

Eric felt a warm liquid running down his face. It smelled. He instantly woke up, witnessing a small rabbit hop off his face. In a split-second the Nord knew what was going on. His blood was boiling, filled with rage he jumped up and let out a mighty roar. He shouted tons of profanities, both in Nordic and Common. He gave chase to the little critter as long as he could, but it was to no avail. Angrily and with great pace he stepped back to the camping place.

"Let's go" he snarled. He rubbed his face with his shirt. What a bad start of the day this was.

[Palathadric]

I awake with a start as a violent rush of profanities push themselves out of the mouth of the Norse. In an instant, he is charging blindly away into the forest.

I turn to Erdy, "I tell you, the man has gone insane. See him now, rushing about like a lunatic. Where, in God's name, does he think he is off to? Abandoning us, is he? We will show him that we don't need him on our team. Useless tramp."

The Norse returns shortly later in hardly better spirits, and begins barking commands.

"Really, young fellow, I suggest you brew yourself a soothing beverage! It may help in releasing some of that pent up steam. Oh, of course, you haven't a pot. Not a wise move when out on a quest like this. Don't think you can use mine!"

[Flare]

If the party would like to do anything before continuing on the path, then please say so!

I would like to look in every direction except the one we came from, perhaps we will see if there is something near us that would be of help!

Erdathcath wildly swings her telescopes in every direction except the one from which she came from. She notices a few things. One, the path which she is going to take. Secondly, a few travelers on the path which she will take. She sees in the distance the valley of the demon-frogs, and a cave nearby it. She also sees in the distance (in a different direction from the path) a small hut and a burning fire. Besides that, she only sees the normal peeing rabbits and the same landscape.

[Palathadric]

"Come on. Up and out you all. Let's get a move on," I proclaim loudly as I head on down the path having no clue as to where I'm going or what I'm supposed to do once there.

[Khorne]

"We move on!" yelled Eric, raising his arm in the desired direction, as if he was leading an army to war. The Viking was still visibly annoyed by the rabbit's action earlier this morning.

[Flare]

The heroes continue to travel on the path. Nothing interesting happens besides a couple of rabbits that stared at Eric passing by.

By the afternoon they see a couple figure on the path in the distance, walking towards them. Half an hour late they meet.

"Go away! Get lost! Go back to where you came from, foul trespassers!"
