Lind Whisperer Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Ooc: One last thought - would it be possible for Grimwald to consume a Nostrum immediately before we enter the battle, without spending the first round drinking it? If so, since we'll be getting two more of those as drops, that might be in our best interests, since a large part of the plan is based on keeping several of the enemy Asleep, and with the 50/50 chance of a misroll, having a second roll would significantly increase our effectiveness in that area. Lind Whisperer Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) After accidentally tripping, not hiding, as Munchkins do not hide, Lind surveyed the battle field, and began to strategize. Ooc: Well...Hmm... We could Smoke Bomb out, again, I suppose. But I somewhat hate to give this place up for later, after having already used up so many consumables. Here's one alternate battle plan. Lind casts his Phoenix Essence on Grimwald, while Darksten drinks a second Potion. I'll definitely take some damage, but I believe I can survive it, and Grimwald will be back up to full health. For the next round, Grimwald Casts Scroll of Sleep on Bugbear Healer A. Lind attacks the Dryad, and Darksten targets Cheshire Cat A. Even if he rolls another Triple Shot, that way he won't wake up the Bugbears(Unless I'm horribly misreading how Triple Shot works). For the next round after that, Grimwald will Attack the Dryad, Darksten targets the Cat again, and Lind either collects his cards, or drinks a potion, depending on his health. Of course, it does depend on Lind not rolling any more Hides/being KO... If the rest of the party would rather to move on to a different field, though, or has a different attack strategy, please feel free to share. Edited December 18, 2014 by Lind Whisperer Quote

Comrade Commander Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 ooc: Here is the thing, if we drop the Phoenix Essence, and Grimwald attacks, we still take three free hits which will chip away at our health leaving us in a rough spot. I think we are burning through consumables without much result and are on a slippery slope. One bad roll and it could kill us. There also aren't really any other places to go either as the only other "easy" field is beyond this one. If we cannot handle this, I doubt we will handle a more difficult one.... Unless we can think of a miracle, I am for just seeing how many shots we can get in before getting knocked out. I wouldn't mind going on a normal quest. Quote

Ooc: As much as I'd like to try some daring last minute plan that snatches us a dazzling victory, you make an excellent point about our health. With the sort of rolls we've been getting, spending another Phoenix Essence might very well end up being a complete waste of consumables, not to mention having the same end result as if we'd just fought to the finish. It would be a rather inglorious end to the quest, but in the interest of saving what consumables we have left, I move we follow Darksten's suggestion. It's been a good run, and I think we can feel proud of what we've done so far. QM Question: Are there any rules against using Shovels in battle? And if there aren't, would placing oneself in the battle order while using one count as enough of an action as to receive free hits? Comrade Commander Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) Darksten sees the short rogue dive for cover behind a tree, and then sees the enemies shift to instead converge on the wise sage. The healing effects of the potion still coursing through the ranger's blood, he is able to withstand the attack from behind, but sees the old companion with him sucumb to the unrelenting horde. He weighed his options and knew it was time to make a final stand, hoping only to take as many enemies with him as he could. Darksten quickly loads a bolt, and fires toward Chesire Cat A from the back row. "Bring it" he mutters Edited December 19, 2014 by Comrade Commander Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) The rogue stood carefully behind the tree, aiming his last deck. He knew that this battle must eventually end in defeat, and he felt regret at the fact. His were not a people to know defeat - not since the Final Blow. But none can always know success, and even defeat can be glorious, if there is no fear, and he carefully aimed the sharp paper edges of his cards at the Dryad. Battle Order: Lind Whisperer: Dryad, Back Row Darksten: Chesire Cat A, Back Row Ooc: I was originally going to try digging, since if nothing else, I couldn't roll another Hide, and I was hoping to find at least 2 gold, to pay back Asphalt. But it just felt too much like giving up entirely, so Lind's going to wait and scrabble around in the barnyard next to the prize barrel after we finally fall and we're leaving the fields.
