Actaeon looks around at his new companions. The mage is here, I see. Looking at everyone else, he realizes that he is once again the most inexperienced hero.

QM Note: There were quite many interactions between you guys, so please double check that your stats are correct below!

OOC: Thanks for hosting! Stats look good except for the missing Decamon Deck.

I left out the cards because you can't do anything with them here. The stats of the six of you are plenty long enough without them.

P.S. - Does the "War" challenge apply to healers? Could I attack a monster, then heal a party member, then go back to attacking (the same) monster?

You can heal and use items freely, it just concerns attacks.

OoC: But really, I've got google docs all prepped an ready if you'd like to hear my thoughts. Quick clarification though for Sandy:

For the multiplier, does the equation look like this or this:

You can only choose one challenge per battle.

"A serpentine beast you say? Have you seen it?"

"Of course! I'm the one who released it to the wilds, hyuck hyuck! Now, where will the lot of you head first?"

"To the Derelict Windmill, with the War challenge!"

The party progresses to the Derelict Windmill, with the War Challenge enabled.

Yeah, awesome. These are my only thoughts since we can only use 1 challenge:

OLD MAC'S CHALLENGES:

Close Encounters: Heroes may only fight from the front row. x1.3 GP

Malfunction: Elemental multipliers do not apply. x1.3 GP

Drought: Heroes are unable to use consumables for the duration of the battle. x1.5 GP

Armor-Piercing: The heroes are stripped of Defense. x1.5 GP

Famine: The enemies drop no loot. x1.5 GP

Play Fair: Heroes are unable to inflict negative effects. x1.5 GP

Thick Skin: All enemies gain defense equal to half their level, rounded up. x1.5 GP

See You in Hell: The heroes fight to the death, no reviving or fleeing. x1.8 GP

Immortal: One random enemy cannot be damaged or inflicted with negative effects until all others are defeated. x1.8 GP

On the Clock: The battle must be won within ten rounds or the battle is lost. x1.8 GP

Overdose: All enemies have their maximum health doubled. x2 GP

Tilt: All heroes have their maximum health and ether halved. x2 GP

War: Heroes cannot change targets until their current target has been defeat. x2 GP

Debuffed: The heroes lose all immunities and positive effects. x2.3 GP

Pestilence: All heroes lose 10 health each round. x2.3 GP

Tough Luck: All enemies are permanently lucky. x2.5 GP

You Only Die Twice: Each enemy must be killed twice. x3 GP

Apocalypse: Each enemy's level, maximum health, maximum ether, and defense are multiplied by ten. x4 GP

"Hmm" Siercon said... Eyeing the list of challenges to choose from. I've marked off the lines of the challenges I don't think are practically worth the multipliers they give. beyond that, I'm game to stay in the upper range the whole time depending on how things go.

I'd almost be down to do 'You only die twice' till it starts getting too hard. Our shields are bound to clear out enemies over time. But since the complication of combining multiple challenges is non existent, I leave it all up to you guys, I seem to have a mind splitting headache at the moment."

"Anyways. onward unto battle!" Siercon said gripping his heavy spear.

OoC: Mind splitting headache = Iron Builder ... O.O

Matthias sizes up the opponents from the back and aims his big cannon at the Zombie Peasant, a glare on his face but happy to be doing something.

> Matthias: Extraordinaire vs. Zombie Peasant

As a note I should go last in the battle order to gain the most benefit from Roots of Life.

And as another note, Actaeon's Defense isn't listed; I believe it should be 2.

"Put me up on the order. It's seven on six, let one of the vermins kiss the ironworks so the others might be safe (from free hits)."

Purpearl raises her shield and casts Fire through her Thorny Rose at the Rat King from the back row!

The rogue looked over the field, quickly strategizing.

"Master Mystic, if you would target the Rat King please, Master Knight, the first Big Rat, thank you, Master Mage, the second Big Rat if you would be so kind. As I'm immune to Fire, I'll take on the Battle Ant, while Master Ranger, if you could kindly take on the Itsy-Bitsy Spider, and Master Druid, if you could please help the Zombie Peasant back hence he came, that would be most excellent."

Battle Order:

Purpearl Berthadhiell: Thorny Rose vs. Rat King, Back Row

Kiray Nastayo: Sanctified Rito Longsword vs. Big Rat A, Back Row

Siercon (Siercon and Coral): Giant Spear vs. Big Rat B, Back Row

That was in-character, and meant to be. Both you and I as players know what's going on... but our characters have to figure it out. Replying out-of-character to in-character dialogue doesn't help.

"With pleasure." Siercon said to Lind. Stepping up to the Giant Rat B he cast a fire spell at him from the front row."Purpearl, Kiray, we can easily fight these guys from the front row without taking any damage, if you'd like to join me."

Although taking some scrapes here and there, the six heroes are swift to get rid of their vermin foes. Only the zombie peasant remain standing after the onslaught.

QM Note: I will autoroll the next round because there is only one enemy remaining and nobody is in danger of getting knocked out.

Results of Round Two of the Derelict Windmill Battle:

Purpearl (Fire) vs. Zombie Peasant - Enchantment (Purpearl: -6 ether, Crescent Shield +1 SP)

Kiray Nastayo vs. Zombie Peasant - Special Damage (Bone Gnaw - Kiray: 20 health+17-13 dmg=20 health+fragile; Zombie Peasant: +13 health)

Zombie Peasant - Bleeding (-5 dmg)

Try as they might, the heroes cannot make the zombie fall. Instead, they get more seriously injured this time around. Purpearl manages to bolster her defenses with an enchantment, though.

Results of Round Three of the Derelict Windmill Battle:

Purpearl (Fire) vs. Zombie Peasant - Spell (Zombie Peasant: 13 health-38 dmg=0 health; Purpearl: -1 ether)

Kiray Nastayo vs. Zombie Peasant

Siercon (Fire) vs. Zombie Peasant

Finally, a fireball conjured by Purpearl defeats the zombie hillbilly.

Matthias can't understand what's wrong with the Extraordinaire - the blasted thing just won't fire. He hadn't used it since the Tritech researcher had worked on it... and as soon as he thinks of her name, Nicole, the gnome's mind clears up. "Of course, she replaced the safety mechanism," he mumbles, clicking the tiny lever off and then quickly back on again. "I don't care where we go next," he remarks, trying to sound casual and not like he'd just made the most rookie move imaginable.

"Let's just get on with it."

Thanks for taking the time to auto-roll, Sandy!

"I hate rats," Kiray muttered as the battle finished. She sheathed her sword and looked at the carnage. "Not bad guys."

"Excellent work, everyone. Excellent."

Master Druid, would you please burn an ether and heal our Master Mystic? A potion wouldn't quite do the work, and we need our Crusader at full health."

The rogue looked over the rest of the party. "Does anyone have any preferences as to which loot they'd like? If it helps, I don't need to take a share. My plan is more centered around the end of this quest anyway..."

"Also, Master Mystic - would you mind lending me your Tunic of the Elven Acrobat?"

Ooc: Thanks for the Auto-rolling!

"I've no particular preference on the loot, I'll take any." says Purpearl as she prepares herself for the next challenge ahead, "Great work everyone on our first victory, where to next? Sheep Meadow?"

"Also, Master Mystic - would you mind lending me your Tunic of the Elven Acrobat?"

"Not at all."

Purpearl hands Lind her Tunic of Elven Acrobat.
