QM Note: Mystic Knight's SHIELD skill imbues your weapon with an element and you attack with it. The attacks aren't spells so they aren't ranged unless your weapon is. OOC: In the interest in playing fair, I had switched targets to Direwolf D so the free hit should have been from Battering Ram A who is a lower level and thus done less damage... Thanks for pointing this out, but unfortunately that would mean the whole free hit order would be messed up. I'm not going to change it for a few points of damage, but I appreciate you mentioning it anyway. Quote

That's right, but even with a ranged weapon that roll is considered to be a "physical attack", the only difference is that the damage isn't halved from the back row. Spells are also ranged, but cost ether (and are considered "magical attacks" along with healing). It used to be different once upon a time but we as a community decided to change the SHIELD roll for MK because it was OP. And that's also exactly right about the broomsticks; there's a tradeoff to being a high-powered tank, you know. Some would argue (and have done so in the past) that broomsticks are also OP, but that's another story. Quote
