Jestb2000 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Hey guys, jestb here, and Im new. I was wondering if I could have your opinion on a lego selection? 8880, 8448, 9398, 8466? Which one I'd best? Thanks, jestb2000 Quote
DLuders Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 To help you decide, you can look at the various set reviews on Brickset: 8880 Super Car, 8448 Super Street Sensation, 9398 4x4 Crawler, and 8466 4x4 Off Roader. Quote
Jestb2000 Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Achem......... I forgot 8480 My uncle has 8868 so don't mention it! Quote
DLuders Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 OK, you can see the Brickset reviews of the 8480 Space Shuttle here. Quote
idunno101 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 It depends what are you looking for in the set like functionality, how it looks, etc and really the best person to decide that is yourself Quote
Jestb2000 Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 Ok, after some thinking, I have narrowed the search between 8880, 8448 and 9398! The 8466 I liked only for doors, wheels, and panels, while the 8480 for its realism. Quote
DLuders Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 (edited) OK, from your remaining choices, I recommend: 1) IF you want to be able to "drive" your Lego set using onboard motors, then select the 9398 4x4 Crawler. 2) IF you want a "classic" Lego Technic set, then select the 8880 Super Car. 3) IF you want to be able to build FOUR ADDITIONAL models (besides the standard "A" and "B" models), then select the 8448 Super Street Sensation because you could build a Concept Car, Racer, Hot Rod, and Buggy alternate too. Crazydance Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 8880 is best, Done! Meh, it's just a car. And it's studded.. If you're down for that you should take the 8880. On the other hand the new Crawler (9398) is something else. Maybe not as awesome as a super car it's playability is much higher, Plus you get the new PF motors which can be used in future studless models. I Myself would buy something 'future-proof' thus ending up buying the new crawler. Quote
Jestb2000 Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 Ok, I have updated my list to these sets. (some aren't technic but are mostly built with technic.) 8653, 8448, 8674, 8145 and lastly......... 9398. If I get a cheaper one I'll buy maybe a rc buggy motor or pf servo/L. Thanks for your comments and support, I appreciate it! Also, I'm into building supercars, (1:10 scale) and trtr, but I need more parts! If anyone could sell me some spare parts I would appreciate it! Alasdair Ryan Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 (edited) If anyone could sell me some spare parts I would appreciate it! Your best bet for parts is on bricklink and ebay, over time you will build up your part's to build bigger models. -_- I know how to use bricklink. That's not very nice...... Jestb2000 Posted August 16, 2012 Author Posted August 16, 2012 Which of the above is more easy to modify? Quote
z3_2drive Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 They are all made of Lego. lol... true but, the older studded ones are harder to modify IMO because you would need old studded technic pieces. The 9398 is very easy to modify, its already been proven... Quote
Jestb2000 Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 Thanks guys! I have decided on 8448 just as I found it cheap misb and It is worth a lot! Quote
