If you changed the color to red and put a University of Georgia Bulldog on the side you would hit 10k in about 5 hours... sadly.

Not really a fair comparison - Purdue Pete got support through organised events where people could register and vote through laptops specifically set up for attendees to do so. It'll all be for nothing though - I seriously doubt it will pass the review. If the Eve Online ship is judged to not have enough of a global customer base, you can bet a local US university American football mascot won't.

On the other hand, I'm genuinely confident the Medieval Travelling Theatre would stand a very good chance of passing review... if it ever reaches that stage. I designed it to be a play toy, not a display model or sculpture. That is, in my view, the best way to approach Cuusoo projects.

Okay, so the theatre finally reached 500 supporters last night! It's a decent, worthy milestone, even if there's still a ways to go. Nonetheless, I want to reiterate my thanks to everyone who's supported so far - you guys are great. It makes this whole endeavour a community-spirited project, and makes me want it to succeed all the more, so that the hundreds of people who have supported get a chance of owning this model for real.

And again, if you've looked at this project and been reluctant to support, please tell me why! I appreciate all feedback and criticism - without it I cannot improve the model!

Looking at the upcoming Lone Ranger Stagecoach set made me ponder the shape of my cart - it's very boxy and ungainly. So I decided to kill my darlings, slaughter my sacred cows and went back to the drawing board with the profile of the theatre. I began by trying to emulate the curved ship-like contours of the stagecoach, but that didn't work out, since the curtained area forces a minimum width at the base. So while I brought in more curves, it doesn't really resemble the stagecoach a whole lot. Probably for the best, but who knows.

The results are here:

I've not put it through to render yet because I'm still not 100% on this being final. It's a shame that the textured walls on either side of the curtains had to go, but at the same time they never matched, so they needed altering at the very least. One of the difficulties of using these curved half-arch pieces is that they sort of enforce a flat surface on the side, which is a shame.

Anyway, thoughts? Improvement or not?

Thanks very much for your kind words guys!

But also, can anyone please offer comment on the proposed changes to the carriage shape? Is it too much / not enough? To curvy / to rigid? Not different enough? Someone criticise pleeeeeease!

This looks fantastic! I'm in the process of supporting.

The design is really great. I can't think of anything I'd change. On the plus side it doesn't appear to require any new parts, so you stand a way better chance of succeeding.

I like the changes. It gives it much more flow. It makes it feel more like a traveling home or a "ship of the roadways" rather than simply a boxy commercial hauler. It has a little bit of a gypsy feel to it as well, which works well for it.

Have you considered sending a notice of the project to some College and University drama departments?

Now that's an idea. It might work, or I might be trying to appeal to a whole bunch of people deep in their dark ages. Worth some thought though.

I suspect I'm in the minority, but I kinda think I like the preceding version a bit more. Boxy and ungainly are not necessarily negative things, per se. But I don't have a strong opinion – both do look good, after all. The new design is more elegant, the old more homely. The new one with its more streamlined curves sort of makes the wagon look too long compared to its height, or am I imagining? Would be easier to judge if there were side-by-side comparisons from identical angles? :classic:

One thing I would like even if others might strongly oppose (I'm a bit obsessed with practicality, maybe) would be including tops for the crates on the roof and reducing the amount of props so that everything can fit inside them and the treasure chest. I presume the review stage will eventually cut down most of the props anyway (I'd like to get as many as possible, but they are just the icing on the cake, secondary to the wagon itself).

Sorry, accidental double posting. This post can be deleted. My mouse is getting old and sometimes likes to do unwarranted doubleclicks...

I love this model! The new version is certainly different, but I can't formulate an opinion on which I prefer. The theater mask sign (which would have to be a sticker-ugh) is great, and I love the backdrop. I believe I have supported the Travelling Theatre, but if not, it's of to CUUSOO I go! EDIT: Supported!

If any two of the many props were preserved if made by LEGO, I would want it to be the conical headdress, because we haven't seen it in close to a decade, and the Luminara headdress, which is a piece I personally like.

Good luck! I don't know who will be happier if it reaches 10,000- you or me! This is one of the best things on CUUSOO, and if it succeeds, it will be well deserved.
