swils Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Just as a general note, I usually do my best to avoid leet-speak or similar. When I do say something as ugly as "souper-srs", it's usually to make a point (though again, I'd have to look back to remember what that point may have been, heh).
Bob Posted August 14, 2012 Author Posted August 14, 2012 BS. I played in Yakuza, probably one of the more unbalanced games here, and even that was not as unbalanced as this game. Stop, seriously. I helped out both teams in ways you don't know.
swils Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Stop, seriously. I helped out both teams in ways you don't know. Could we possibly be enlightened?

PsyKater Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Ignoring the discussion about the game mechanics and hoping that I am allowed to post here as spectator of Excalibur, I just wanted to say that I just finished reading The Cool Kid’s Lounge the Dead Writeboard and I want to thank the dead for this entertainment!

Shadows Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 You're talking about me! It didn't work anyway, but I would never even think about trying that again. FiberCon jerk. Damn right it didn't work and it made me love that game more than almost any other! I managed to turn Fibercon into a construction material used to cover up the bodies we sent to the dump. Why would anyone pour concrete over bodies buried in the dump, wouldn't that just draw more attention to them? Made perfect sense to the town though. I may have also been thinking of TPRU and the 17 clues. I can just imagine my role in his next game, and I'll love the hell out of it!
Darkdragon Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 This is my last statement about Stumpy, except for things I may say later which I am not planning at this moment: I don't have any problem with the resurection or the investigative action. It's obvious that that was planned or at least semi-planned from the get-go. My only beef with it is that Hinckley was allowed on the dead writeboard when Bob knew he would have a one-shot investigation. That is the only failing of the host, IMHO on this issue. Souper is not a word and dropping acronyms into everything is not a good communication skill. Do you want to kill the English language? Do you want to be able to communicate clearly in writing on your job applications, resume, college applications? Souper? Is that the cool way to spell super? Is spelling things wrong "in"? Is srs supposed to really be a word? I don't have time for vowels!! I can't stand when people chop up the English language and make things unreadable. I don't even like making people's usernames into acronyms. Just my opinion, but that opinion is that I think less of people who over use acronyms and goofy 1337 speak like "souper". Where's the ol' Hinck pic, darkdragon? Here it is, sir. Ignoring the discussion about the game mechanics and hoping that I am allowed to post here as spectator of Excalibur, I just wanted to say that I just finished reading The Cool Kid’s Lounge the Dead Writeboard and I want to thank the dead for this entertainment! We aim to please our adoring fans!

XimenaPaulina Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 If I may offer my feedback as an outside observer of this game, I can understand Scuba's frustration regarding "mid-game changes" as I've experienced these myself in a couple of mafia games I played in, namely: def's Bloodbrick II: where we, the remaining Town, thought there were only 5 scum to begin with (specifically stated in the intro) and we mistakenly assumed a conversion is not possible in a new game concept of "multiple first-come-first-serve med pill night actions" (and we were fatally surprised to find out we're wrong in the end); and Hinckley's Prison Riot: where some of the "meal actions" that were taken out already where brought back in the meal cart circulation to "speed things up" in the day threads. On both instances it was a bit frustrating on my part since those changes/misconceptions ruined whatever plan we formulated, but I think it was more of a lack of playing experience on my part during that time (not being aware of such mid-game changes in past mafia games). Had I known those were not unprecedented in EB Mafia games then I would've felt less pissed. As cliche as it may sound, but I did learn from those experiences: to always expect the unexpected and always be prepared for the worst. I sure hope you'll also take this as a learning experience Scuba, and you've really been impressive in this game being able to penetrate the town core which helped your scum team in the early goings, and that's something to be proud of since only a few could pull that off with significant success. (so stop repeatedly complaining about the game balance ). ---- Major kudos to Bob for hosting an entertaining game, which despite the boring "uneventful/inactive" last few day threads, was reinvigorated by an exciting "could-go-either-way" down-the-wire finish. And the "Cool Kids Lounge" dead writeboard was also entertaining as hell! (Great to read Hinck's signature over-paranoia even in the afterlife ).
Dannylonglegs Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 If anyone cares, I was scum in the little dead game we almost played.
Brickdoctor Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 If anyone cares, I was scum in the little dead game we almost played. So was I. I wasn't told who the other Scum were, though.
Darkdragon Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 If anyone cares, I was scum in the little dead game we almost played. SCUMMY! I knew it all along actually, I just didn't think anyone would listen to me. So was I. I wasn't told who the other Scum were, though. Now this I really did know. Ask Scouty he will totally back me up here, I had you pegged.
Dannylonglegs Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 So was I. I wasn't told who the other Scum were, though. Damn, and I was going to vote you off! I feel like Anakin at the end of Revenge of the Sith now.
CMP Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) So was I. I wasn't told who the other Scum were, though. I was too, and Bob wouldn't tell me who the others were either. Edited August 14, 2012 by CallMePie
Dannylonglegs Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 SCUMMY! I knew it all along actually, I just didn't think anyone would listen to me. Just like I knew that Scuba was Scum day one.
Brickdoctor Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Now this I really did know. Ask Scouty he will totally back me up here, I had you pegged. I know you did, but I didn't stop because it was more fun the way I played it.
Darkdragon Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I was too, and Bob wouldn't tell me who the others were either. He wouldn't tell me either, but I wasn't scum. That would have been a fun game if we could have managed to pull it off correctly and not just infurriate the host.
Dannylonglegs Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I was too, and Bob wouldn't tell me who the others were either. Oh wow, so it was all the scum from V.1.
Darkdragon Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I know you did, but I didn't stop because it was more fun the way I played it. Annoyingly Hilarous actually.
Brickdoctor Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Oh wow, so it was all the scum from V.1. Pie was (or at least claimed to us to be) the Neutral Investigator in 1.0, remember?
Scubacarrot Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I'm not being mean to Bob, not intential anyway. My frustration is fully my own fault and comes from my previous experience with Mafia Games. The way it is done on Eurobricks is obviously different, not saying worse, but I think It'll will continue to frustrate myself if things continue like this. So I'm going to have a long think wether or not I have the stomach to continue playing these far inferior games. (it's a joke guys, gaaaaah) Before I forget, thanks much for hosting Bob.
Dannylonglegs Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Pie was (or at least claimed to us to be) the Neutral Investigator in 1.0, remember? Yes, but I unofficially converted/confused-the-hell-out-of-him. Remember?
CMP Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) Ensign Robert Holloway, engineer --- Played by CallMePie Welcome aboard the U.E.N. Excalibur! You are Ensign Robert Holloway, engineer aboard the Excalibur. You serve with Timothy Mandel and Allison Williams, and serve under Lieutenant Commander Wilder. However, you are not of this Earth. You are from Andur, a peaceful republic not too far away from Earth. You’ve been tasked by the High Council to observe the humans and ensure that nothing goes wrong on their trip of exploration. They’re very much so interested in establishing first contact; however they’d like to observe human behavior before they do so. You are an Andurian Commander posing as Ensign Holloway. You keep this secret from the others, since you’re not sure they’re ready to know all of this yet. Although you are neutral in this affair, you are also peaceful. As tasked by the High Council, every night you may go out and investigate someone. It is up to you if you choose to share this with anyone. To win the game, you must survive until the end. Please confirm in the thread and place your avatar somewhere so others can see it easily. I didn't want to lie, I was afraid I'd get eaten alive if another investigator turned up and investigated. I figured there'd be one, I didn't think the only investigator would be one pretty much ambiguous as to who won. But the town never trusted me and the scum would just be foolish to keep me alive. (Or so I thought. ) Why was I neutral in the first place? Investigator's a townie role, I don't see the point in having one that's not actually townie. Yes, but I unofficially converted/confused-the-hell-out-of-him. Remember? I felt like you should've been tying me to some train tracks while twirling your black mustache the whole time. Palathadric Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Yes!!! So glad I voted for the three of you. I knew I was on the right track. But then again, I voted for everyone else as well...so So much for Brickdoctor's "scum and dumb" jump on CallMePie. Seems he was right after all!
