Multiverse Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Oh. So that's where the money I'll earn next year is going to have went. I was going to have been wondering about that. Quote
TheRedGuy Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 The crocs are amazing. I also woder what would be a Ninjago fan's reaction to LoC... Probably "IT'S STOOPID BECAUSE IT REPLACED NINJAGO" which happened with HF. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Interesting....January release, okay so then when is the new TV series to support this is meant to start ? Besides it looks to be inspired in part by except with weapons and machines. Quote
Algernon Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) Wow, I'll be honest, I'm not that impressed by these. I see what they're going for but it doesn't hold much interest for me at all. It's just as well, since the 2013 Star Wars sets look fantatsic... Edited October 18, 2012 by Algernon Quote
Aanchir Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 The crocs are amazing. I also woder what would be a Ninjago fan's reaction to LoC... Probably "IT'S STOOPID BECAUSE IT REPLACED NINJAGO" which happened with HF. A lot of the AFOL Ninjago fans have seemed just uncertain until now, so they could easily come to like Chima. Certainly the character art on the bike/card set packages makes the theme feel more engaging for me, as do the brilliant brick-built animal vehicles. Of course, I imagine there will be no shortage of TFOL/KFOL Ninjago fans who will react with more hostility, but hopefully they'll get over it eventually. That's always a common reaction to a new theme that takes the place of an old theme (or even simply continues to exist when another theme is cancelled). The Hero Factory hatedom has just lasted a particularly long time, partly because BIONICLE was not your typical LEGO theme and lasted an extraordinarily long time only to be cut short rather abruptly. The croc boat is particularly stunning, and shows just how much potential for awesomeness this theme's sets have. I certainly hope the story can meet the same potential. And on the subject of the Speedorz, my brother pointed something out to me a while back... they're little bikes that, like the spinners, incorporate some kind of card game. You heard right! Card games! On motorcycles! Quote
GeluNumber1 Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Huh. So this is replacing Ninjago. ... Completely worth it. The new and recolored pieces are great, the designs look good, and the minifigures are beautiful. As an MOCer, I see a lot of potential in these sets. But there's one problem: the motorcycles used in the blister packs are clunky, and appear to be one piece. Still, I'm gonna have an empty wallet come release time. Quote
Oky Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Is it just me or is it really ironic that the one set they don't have a picture of is the one we've already seen a prelim of? This theme doesn't look too bad. Some of the vehicles look kinda cool, although not as cool as those seen in Thundercats. There are some interesting new parts in these sets. I think I might pick up one or two small sample sets for the parts, but otherwise this is a theme I'll gladly pass on. I'd much rather get TMNT than this zany stuff. Also, yay for the first official floating rocks theme! Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Hm. Hm hm hm hm... Not bad I guess... There are a few jems, but I'm overall not that interested (which is just how I felt about Ninjago). The Lion Buggy and Quad, Wolf Tracker, and Ultra Striker are some of my favorites. But really, I guess I'll wait until I see in hand images of them. I'm kinda liking the theme overall. It has a lot of potential, and I'll definitely be watching the TV series. Kalhiki Quote
Robominer Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) These sets look great. The minifigures, although hard to see, look very detailed. Note the reuse of Atlantis keys and the animal in the corner of the box art changes according to which faction the vehicle represents. EDIT: I just realized that the birds are actually two separate factions: eagles and. . .nighthawks? Plus, all the factions get one vehicles each, except the nighthawks and wolves, which only have one. The lions, eagles, and crocodiles, however, all get two. EDIT2: The nighthawks do get two vehicles; they have another in the set with the large eagle. Edited October 18, 2012 by Robominer Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) I'm suprised that we get so many sets! Great to see that crocodiles are the baddies, they will blend nicely with Ninjago snakes! And I love new system wings pieces! Edited October 18, 2012 by Lordofdragonss Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Is it just me or is it really ironic that the one set they don't have a picture of is the one we've already seen a prelim of? . . . That struck me as ironic as well. . . Anyway, these are looking pretty cool - personnally, I don't mind it taking over Ninjago's role, I'm ready for something new and I'm glad Ninjago will be ending on a high note instead of fizzeling out. Although, I agree, a lot of TFOL Ninjago fans probably won't be too happy. Quote
KazeMonsuta Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 You heard right! Card games! On motorcycles! God, that cracked me up when I read it. I'm already imagining a brickfilm with that soundsample. When the sets arrive in Germany, I will do this. (If there was no one else before me.) Quote
Laura Beinbrech Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Sweet! So the Croc boat is, in fact the same hull used in the 2010 City Fire Boat and the 2011 City Harbor grain boat set, but in olive green... I am so getting that and turning it into a corvette for the bad guys in my setting. Quote
Robominer Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Did anyone notice the name of the theme seems to have changed from "Legends of Chima" to just Chima? Quote
Aethersprite Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Did anyone notice the name of the theme seems to have changed from "Legends of Chima" to just Chima? Probably just an oversight on the website's part. No word on the HF style figures we're supposedly getting with these? Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Did anyone notice the name of the theme seems to have changed from "Legends of Chima" to just Chima? You're right. Good eye! No word on the HF style figures we're supposedly getting with these? Maybe someone got confused with the "Speedorz" vehicles? Quote
robuko Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I declare this theme to be a massive hit. Great figures, good action set-ups with high playability and compelling designs. Well played, Lego. The only downside for me is that many of the sets appear to be too fragile for my 3 year old. Go go Thundercrocs! Quote
Aanchir Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Did anyone notice the name of the theme seems to have changed from "Legends of Chima" to just Chima? As far as I can tell, the "Legends of" text on the boxes is just extremely small, as it has always been. As for why the retailer calls it just LEGO Chima, it's kind of like how the "LEGO Ninjago" logo always said "LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu", but was generally just referred to as "LEGO Ninjago" by retailers. Besides brevity, one advantage of using the shorter name is it doesn't have to be translated, though chances are "Legends of Chima" will still be the TV series title and will be translated accordingly in each language it's broadcast in. PenPlays Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 End my last favorite series on a high not->Continue that love through these babies!! The first thing that hit me was the blue box. They are absolutely gorgeous in that blue color, much better than red and green. The fact that the head of the centric Chi-mal (Chima+ animal, I couldn't resist) changes per box. It is much better than the random Ninja with swords/snakes. Now off to my opinions: -Speedorz Ultimate Tournament: It think that these are the two leaders, Cragger and Laval, of the factions. If that's confirmed in some sort of media, this will be the Lloyd ZX of the Speedorz. The swords are epic! -Speedorz Ice Tower: This originally sounded so epic! Most of the Speedor packs are that way, but hey, Winzar is unique to this set, it will be a must have. -Speedorz Nest Jump: If there will be any faction I will complete, its the eagles. Eglor is a shining example of why. Its also nice to see yellow hands on a minifigure that wears dark colors for a change. -Speedorz Jungle Gates: Lennox seems to be the most common Lion. This one will probably be one of my last purchases. -Speedorz Rock Bowling: Crominus looks excellent, but the "function" of the set isn't very appealing. -Speedorz Target Practice: Again, not very appealing, especially because you have to aim the cannon to successfully make a shot. Equila makes this a must have, however. The name sounds very female. -Speedorz Fire Ring: I'd say this one has the coolest looking "function". And those trans-hinges sweeten the deal. Razar makes this a must have as well. -Equila's Ultra Striker: This set reminds me of the Sentinels from Lego Universe. Beautiful, and I love those new wing pieces. -Craggers Croc-Boat HQ: The Olive hull is nice. Very different. A must. -Laval's Lion Quad: Is that a new yellow? I can see this being desirable among MOCers if that's so. Most of the Lion Vehicles are not as cool as I would have hoped. -Wak's Wolf Tracker: Probably the best of the animal faces on the vehicles. -Eris's Eagle Hunter: An eagle vehicle. Must have!! The talons do look a bit dull. -Lennox's Lion Buggy: Meh... being that I want all the minifigures, I'll get this for that brown guy with the big gun. Again Lennox put aside. -Crawley's Reptile Gripper: I like that Olive wheel, but whats with the moving treads? -Razcal's Raven Glider:...Bird vehicle... get... -Speedorz Chi Waterfall: When I saw the name of the Lion, Leonidas, I wanted to yell "This! Is! CHIMAAAA!" (Let's see who can get it ) I see too many reused Ninjago Weapons in the Speedorz, and I can see the handfuls of blue spheres we'll have once the series is over. Over all, can't wait!! Quote
Pennas2000 Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 I like them but I'd love to see larger pics before I say yay or nay. The minifigs are what I'm interested in but liking what I see so far. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Croc's are baddies just like this guy ..... Quote
Jargo Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) Fabuland with roid rage. I kinda like this but I'm still not sold. High def pics will determine that. The alligator/crocodile head dude looks interesting. Wonder if the head will end up in TMNT too as Leatherhead. 70006 looks like the must have set for me. Olive ship hull and rubber dinghies, trans red bubble elipses. Freakin' sweet! Edited October 19, 2012 by Jargo Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 They look alright! The wing pieces seem to be in many colours so that will be useful! I like the lion set the most I think Quote
Aethersprite Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) So this is essentially crocs vs birds vs lions vs wolves? Sounds ridiculous. Just like Ninjago. Which is awesome. I do wonder how those bike-thingys work. They look like a single piece though, disappointingly. Edited October 19, 2012 by Lockon Stratos Quote
vriverajr3 Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 I'm in love with these sets!!! And I'm sure my 5yr old son will love these as well. I really like the looks of the figures and the different factions. From the looks of the box art, there will be 3 bad guy factions and 2 good guy factions. Good guys: Lion clan Eagle clan Bad guys: Croc clan Falcon/hawk clan Wolf clan Will probably get all of these :) Quote
