Niku Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 If Chima is to last long, maybe Lego could have a rotation system with the factions, or have one permanently defeated and replaced with another. Five factions is already a lot to handle - we're not getting enough sets per faction right now. I do hope we get proper raven sets in the summer. The little factions can always be under the control of the great ones. Explaining their not heavy sets presence. I like what Aanchir wrote, it makes sense. Quote
DraikNova Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Pandas, Rhinos and Monkeys. "If you have any poo, fling it now..." We need penguins too . Quote

CM4Sci Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Found another auction on eBay for Eris, Elgor and Razar. I don't like the look of Eris.. -Sci Quote
Aanchir Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Found another auction on eBay for Eris, Elgor and Razar. I don't like the look of Eris.. -Sci I think she looks pretty nice myself. Perhaps a bit sexist of me to say this, but I was worried that the animal faces would get in the way of her actually looking attractive. But here she looks pretty neat. The other eagle character is also nice. Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Not so sure about the yellow hands..I think blue would have been better But they sure do look neat! Quote
Aanchir Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Not so sure about the yellow hands..I think blue would have been better But they sure do look neat! I think the yellow is supposed to resemble talons. Pretty wise decision IMO, keeps all the yellow from being concentrated on their beaks. Quote
Vindicare Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I'll throw my whattocallit name in the ring. I think it could very well be Ky-mah, as in Chimera. Just going off the lion faction... Those figs definitely look great! Quote
Aethersprite Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 In the list we got, there was another Raven vehicle, 70012 Razars Chi Raider (priced around USD 40 in the rumor as well) That's interesting! I've completely forgotten about that list. With all the sets revealed, could that be an exclusive? Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Eric is so cute! And the tiara on her head is great detail, maybe she is princess? Quote

While the lions and eagles have the same blue outline. Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I like Eris' costume better but Eglor's face looks much nicer. But those ravens sure are looking great! Quote

The good guy vehicles are decorated with a sort of starburst emblem (example) and the bad guy vehicles are decorated with a toothy jaw pattern (example). I'm not sure how much I like this, since even in Ninjago the individual Ninja had their own emblems, and likewise for the individual Serpentine tribes. But then again, a rule of design many people often forget is that you shouldn't confuse the buyer. Having unified symbols for good and evil here is a strong means of helping the kids to understand who's on each side in the conflict. Quote

The individualistic emblems of the ninja and the Serpentine just gave them an additional level of detail. Here, it's more unclear who the good and bad guys are. Quote
Haltiamieli Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 The guy who took that picture hasn't seen much birds in his life, considering how he applied the wings... It's a bit unfortunate that Lego decided to print claws in the feet of all the bird-like characters, lessens the possibilities for alternate uses for those parts. And in my opinion it looks a bit awkward to begin with. Were there other pics, like with the helmets applied or without the neck appliance so that the whole torsos could be seen? Quote
Jargo Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 this is the auction There are only two photos. Quote
Krulis Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Male eagle name isn't Eglor, he is called Equila as you can see on this photos: Eglor is dark blue, while Equila is white with black outlines around his eyes and blue lines on forehead. Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Actually, having seen the second photo, I think both of the white eagles (Equila and Eris) are female, while Eglor is male. After all, having one white eagle female and the other male doesn't make too much sense, when you could have one dark blue female and two white males, or vice-versa. Quote
Robominer Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 While I like detailed minifigures, IMO what an action theme needs is something to make it special, most of the time the figs, and something else. WR passed me by, because the figs were boring and the story was nothing, zip, nada. A hard out brawl like we are seeing in Chima might not be the best possible plot, but I shall have to see... What I like about LEGO sets is not just the minifigures, but the actual models themselves. After all, that is the main part of the sets, right? I appreciate the increased detail on minifigures, but what I don't like is the fact that increased detail draws attention away from the models and that the designer put all their effort into making nice minifigures, instead of good sets. No, because Eris has eyelashes and high, thin eyebrows denoting her femininity and a waist as nearly all female minifigures do. Equila has no waist or eyelashes but instead has thicker eyebrows and intense abdominal muscles.and is male. It doesn't need to make sense. Edited October 31, 2012 by Jargo Quote

On the contrary, I think by having two eagles of the same color and gender, it would be easier for fans to confuse them, whereas this way it's easier to differentiate the three. Whether it makes any sense in terms of sexual dimorphism is irrelevant: the reason for having different designs for the figs to begin with is to make the characters distinctive. Eglor could very easily be Dark Blue for a totally different reason anyway. Maybe he's the leader of the eagle people. Edited October 31, 2012 by Aanchir Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Yeah, I guess I could be wrong. Actually neither of the two white eagles are looking that great to me at this point (though I'd like to see Eglor). In fact, until we get nice photos of the lions, I think they might look better than the eagles. . . Quote
Jargo Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Something that strikes me looking at the minifigures without helmets is that they don't look particularly eagle like. More like doves. It's a little odd. Quote

It's a little odd. Now that you mention it, you're right. They don't look fierce enough to be eagles (although they clearly are - Eris, Equila, Eglor. . .). (What a shame!) Quote
