Kai NRG Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Ewald doesn't sound feminine to me. But no more silly than Worriz or Wakz or Crawley or Crooler. To me it sounds like bald. Which wouldn't be so wierd if it were a male eagle, but for a female... Quote
Shakar Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 "Leader"? Ewald? I used to take for granted the character was a female, but I'm not sure anymore. His/her eyes don't look that feminine either.. Then again, that is clearly a sleeveless dress. Quote
Prominence Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 The stubble on Ewald is unfortunate. Quote
Jargo Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Yeah, but no-one likes a plucked eagle. Quote
DraikNova Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 It sounds like a combination of the word `Eagle` with `Oswald` to me. Quote
Jargo Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 A quick google found this interesting Ewald nugget. Ewald summation, named after Paul Peter Ewald, is a method for computing the interaction energies of periodic systems (e.g. crystals), particularly electrostatic energies. Perhaps that's where the name originates. Quote
Meiko Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 A quick google found this interesting Ewald nugget. Perhaps that's where the name originates. Chima does seem to have a heavy influence on energies, so that could be. Also, how do we know it is a female character? Looking at the minifig, it doesn't have the curved upper body printing that many female figs have nowadays. Plus, guys can wear long robes. Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Also, how do we know it is a female character? Looking at the minifig, it doesn't have the curved upper body printing that many female figs have nowadays. Plus, guys can wear long robes. Guys can, but has TLG ever done that? I don't remember seeing any male minifigs with the slope skirt piece, even when it would be totally appropriate (Gandalf, Dumbledore...) I believe this is something that TLG won't do, as it might raise questions of gender identity which every big toy company wants to stay far, far away from. I just find it annoying that TLG would think robes or dresses were appropriate attire for any flying species. Think about it, guys. How useful is a dress when you spend half your time flying? Quote

(I guess the eagles are the good guys, but still!) Quote
Jackattack7 Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I hope in wave 2 (70007, 70008, 70009, 70010 and 70014) Include new characters, not just the gorilla tribe. Maybe one new character per tribe. I know the first wave isn't even out yet but I really want to see the sets already. Quote
Jargo Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 (edited) This Ewald thing sent me looking for some of the other names. The best match I found for Equila is that of a female knight class character in the 'Heroes of Might and Magic IV' game. Eglor is an actual first name I found a woman born in 1901 with that name. And lots of internet users with Eglor as their username. Nothing really specific though. Eris is the ancient Greek Goddess of chaos/strife/discord, and also a dwarf planet beyond Pluto in our solar system. side note, translating from latin to english Equila Eris is 'Indeed will be'. meaningless but interesting. Worriz is an actual real last name and also an internet meme way of spelling worries. Wakz - 'The Wakz' are a turntablist duo. It's a mispelling of 'whacks' and 'wax'. Other than that I got nothing. Winzar is an actual last name. Seems like a corruption of windsor to me but Winzar is a real name. Wilhurt avenue is in Dallas, Texas, in the good old US of A. It's also an actual real first name. Am shocked! Crominus is a real last name Cragger is a brand of outdoor clothing, a cragger is a member of a carbon reduction action group. Craggers is a term for rock climbers. Crug is a Welsh word meaning 'hill'. According to the Urban dictionary a Crug is: "A skanky girl who usually wears crocks.most of them are fat but there iss some skinny ones." Crawley is a real last name. It's a real English town. Crawley is also a "Pythonic Crawling / Scraping framework intented to change the way you think about extracting data from the internet" According to the Crawley project. Crooler - Crooler.org is a free community where people can send and receive positive messages. Apparently. It's also a real last name. it's also a mispelling of crueller. Rizzo - Rizzo was a punk / riot grrrl band from Los Angeles, California. Rizzo is a Muppet rat. Rizzo is a female character in the stage musical 'Grease'. It's also a real last name. Razcal is just a corruption of rascal. Though there are plenty of musicians using Razcal as a name. There was also a Razcal soda in the 1980's "Juices & Spices. Raspberries & Limes. Nobody famous drinks it". Razar probably just a corruption of razor. Though Razar were a 1970's psuedo-punk band in the UK Bisley workwear make a range of clothes under the name Razar.. Rawzom - rawZoom is a command word in coding for Android phones. Rawzombie seems to be a popular username on the net. but Rawzom is probably a corruption of awesome with the obligatory R for raven added. Gorzan - well Gorzan is a Persian hip hop music band. Gorzan is also a contraction of Gorilla and Tarzan. Gorzan appears to be a real first and last name. Edited December 17, 2012 by Jargo Quote
Pulp Detective Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 The only thing that bugs me is that LEGO gave more credit to the eagle and raven clan,I mean there are totaly 7 sets with eagles and raven minifigs, and they werent kind with the wolf clan there are only two sets with wolf minifigs and franckly I dont like them much,I'm trying to give them some love but they just dont get me excited as much the crocs and the lions minifigures. DraikNova Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Names snip. You have too much time on your hands . Nice to see there is some meaning behind most of these names. Quote

I know, my favorite animal is a wolf. But my favorite sets are the eagle and the raven sets. And you can get the full croc and lion tribes for about $150. Which I don't like. Kai NRG Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 ...Wilhurt avenue is in Dallas, Texas, in the good old US of A. It's also an actual real first name. Am shocked!... Thought I had recognized it as a name, but I didn't think it was spelled the same way. I think the eagles, (not the raves so much) will get most of their stuff in the first wave and not much later. Of course I could be wrong, but maybe. Lions and Crocs seem like they will be going strong throughout, while wolves strike me as almost background charcters (or, since after all the good guys don't get help from the gorrillas - in sets at least - until summer, the bad guys should be happy - the wolfs have a set to themselves in this wave). Perry the Platypus Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 EWALD? Really? If that is really a female, who names a girl eagle Ewald? I understand Eris ( ), but Ewald? Quote
CM4Sci Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Just noticed this: Anyone notice the difference? -Sci Quote
Jackattack7 Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I like the helmet with the blue more, and that is weird but I think the top one will be the real Eagle Queen because it's apart of the box art. Also is Eris the commander (one below the queen.) Quote
