Jargo Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 The song is awful and the singers mouth is unnaturally large but the clips were cool. The teddy bears are cute. Rhinos will be cooler. Gotta love a Rhino. I reckon the Bears are good and the Rhinos are bad. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Oh I just noticed this. In the show the crocks have tails where in sets... they don't. Quote
LuxorV Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 For those interested, the site is up-dated and the Speedorz game is running (at least in the IT version). Quote
jamesster Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) Bears? Rhinos? What's next, Skunks? Oh... I'm not so sure the skunks are a complete tribe. From this webpage: http://chima.lego.co...lcome-to-chima/ Once a pristine, natural paradise, the world of Chima has become a battle ground for eight animal tribes. Best friends are now worst enemies. The animals fight for control of a natural resource called CHI, a powerful element that is both a source of life and unimaginable destruction. Only a few brave heroes in Chima understand the true nature of CHI, and the ultimate annihilation of Chima that will result from its misuse. Their stories, and the stories of those who seek to destroy them, are known as... THE LEGENDS OF CHIMA. So, we've got lions, eagles, gorillas, wolfs, ravens, crocodiles, bears, and rhinos. That's eight tribes not counting skunks, unless they plan on introducing even more tribes (like skunks) later - which I kinda doubt, I'm honestly surprised they've got as many as they do now. But hey, you never know, maybe... Also, the Speedorz game is pretty interesting. First thing I noticed is that I recognized nearly all of the music tracks - they had previously been purchased from Audio Network by LEGO, and used for the racing minigames in LEGO Universe. I can't find all of the LU ones uploaded individually on YouTube (they can be all heard in various gameplay videos, but mostly covered up by sound effects), but and . Maybe they decided to recycle the music and save some money? Edited January 3, 2013 by jamesster Quote
Aanchir Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Oh I just noticed this. In the show the crocks have tails where in sets... they don't. Doesn't really bother me. The same was true of the Serpentine from Ninjago-- all ranks had tails in the show, whereas only the generals had tails in the sets. The tails aren't necessary to recognize that the characters are crocodiles, and would be a serious inconvenience when trying to get them to sit down in vehicles. What bothers me more is that the animated/illustrated versions of the Eagles and Ravens can have wings even when not wearing armor, whereas the armor piece is necessary to attach the wings in the sets. I really wish TLG would create a simple two-studded neck bracket, since adding a 1x2 plate to a one-studded neck bracket creates unnecessary thickness and a loose connection. Quote
Bounty Hunter Supreme Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I find it unfortunate that TLG are only going to give us the 8 animal tribes that we now know about that . In a world as big as Chima, there could easily be so many more tribes. Oh well, I suppose they have to stop somewhere. Besides, we have pretty good ones anyways. Quote
CM4Sci Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) Love the new site! I've been playing the Speedorz game for about an hour already (I find the winning dance kinds creepy though :P) Let's hope I can go tonight and finally spend my $150 on Chima -Sci Edited January 3, 2013 by CM4S Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Thanks, Luxor! A couple interesting things - the panoramic set view, for one thing, is pretty neat; can't help but think that some of the more obvous empty spaces will be filled later. And when I clicked on the Croc command ship I got Razcal's Glider... (not for the animation, but everything else). Is it just me or do the videos work really slowly for others as well? And apparently the story goes something like this: Craggers and Laval are best friends (I'm tempted to say, then he turned, and fell! ), Crominus never liked the lions though. The lions have control of the Chi lake, but they don't have much choice other than to distribute it fairly as if anyone/group gets too much (or even if the lake is left with too much) the "balance" (do we really have to get that in everywhere?) will be destroyed. At a certain age young Chimise (whatever) get their first "taste" of Chi. Just as Laval is about to do this (with a lot of ceremony as he is the Lion Prince), something happens and he drops the Chi. Then Crominus picks it up and uses it, in his chest (which apparently was not what Laval was going to do?). The Lion king commands his warriors to "put a stop to this", and in the ensuing fight(s) Crominus & Queen are killed. Meanwhile, Craggers has "tasted" Chi, and is all too "hungry" for it, so he... turns and falls. Resentful for the death of his father and mother, he blames the lions, and that's that. More or less. At least that's what I gathered from the bios and video(s). Quote
Jargo Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 The Croc queen is called Crunket. Interesting biographies on the minisite. As for the number of tribes, Eight is plenty. Assuming we'll get minifigs of the Rhinos and Bears and if there's 4-6 minifigures in each tribe we get that's a very substantial number of unique minifigures for a theme. Even a flagship one. Quote
Kalhiki Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Music video was alright. Song was good too. But I was really interested in the new footage. With Cragger and Laval being buds at first really makes the story more personal now that they separate. And the fight scenes look very intense. Also cool that we're getting Rhinos and Bears. Still would like Elephants, though, but that may be slightly difficult. And I called it: Gorillas get mechs. Kalhiki Quote
PenPlays Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 The Croc queen is called Crunket. Interesting biographies on the minisite. ...hehe... Ewald's a dude... Thank you bios for disturbing me. Also in the bio for the Lion Sword it mentions Lagavius, I think it's best to assume that he is the Lion King. Kai, I think there are some things in your description of the story that isn't exactly true (at least not yet anyway). Crominus and Crunket are not revealed to be dead, for starters. I highly suggest that all of the bios should be read by anyone who wishes to follow the story. Another thing is the Speedorz game. I'm really hoping that the iOS version is identical (complete with the LU racing music ). My computer does not like to cooperate and it is a tad slow, so here's hoping. Anyone download it yet? Quote

Crominus and Crunket are not revealed to be dead, for starters... I quote from this page: "When the Crocodile Prince Cragger accused the Lions of getting rid of his parents and he became Crocodile King, full-scale conflict broke out between the Crocodiles and the Lions. As conflict spreads, the fate of the Kingdom of CHIMA hangs in the balance…" "Get rid of" sounds like dead to me... Quote
PenPlays Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Or demoted for treason, or jailed for same reason... I will say though that dead does sound likely. It's just that it should be considered with a pinch of salt. Quote

It's just that it should be considered with a pinch of salt. Well... the Lions are going to be able to demote or jail the head croc but they can't take care of his son? I suppose there are always other possibilities, but I'll stick with a very small pinch of salt... Quote
DraikNova Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Wow. I'm going to have to spend tomorrow catching up with all of this. Anyway, when in Vienna, sadly there wasn't any Chima. I might have to check my local store. Quote

Mountain tops is quite cool too. The race backing tracks are not my sort of thing. I find them headache inducing. Shows I'm old and past it eh? Quote
CM4Sci Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 FINALLY got some Chima! Got four sets: Razcal's Glider, Target Practice, Lennox's Lion Attack, and Ultimate Speedorz Tournament! So happy If you want to see reviews or some vids relating to me getting these sets, all can be found on my new YT channel in desc (Sorry if this isn't allowed) -Sci-fi Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 The Gorilla mechs look nice, but the music doesn't do much for me. (I did like the Ninjago theme.) I think I'm going to pick up on of the Speedors sets. Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Okay, I'll take some pictures of those! I'm a bit busy today, so they might come out later today! No problem, thanks once again! Glad to see the site is up, has it been announced when the show will start to air? Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 No problem, thanks once again! Glad to see the site is up, has it been announced when the show will start to air? 16th January there will be a one hour special, if that's what you're refering to. Other than that I don't think we've heard much about a show, but perhaps some one could confim? Quote
Sirtank Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Got my Target.com order of the Pack Tracker and Cragger's Command Ship. Also my first order from Lego arrived with the Ewar polybag set. I've decided Ewar is going to be a generic Eagle warrior. I plan on getting 4-5 of him. I placed another order this morning that included the Chi Raider. I can't believe there hasn't been a review of that set yet. Quote

I'd suggest the Nimbus Station, Race Place, and Nimbus Plaza Music. Those are three of the best! FINALLY got some Chima! CM4Sci Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Just finished building all the sets. Whew! Really cool sets, the Speedorz Tournament is a LOT of fun! YAY! Wonderful choices. Omega 8 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I'm getting an extreme Thundercats vibe from this line. Dan Norton (the lead designer on the 201X Thundercats show) seemingling just found out about Chima today and, he's not happy (https://www.facebook.com/#!/Dingo107). Apparently there were discussions between WB and Lego about a TCats license but the talks fell apart and now we have this all new "original theme". Norton even pointed out that the images of the land of Chima are nearly identical in style and even color to the press packet WB presented for TCats Quote
Jargo Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Thundercats sucks though. Dan Norton is just sour his cartoon tanked and the movie got canned. Quote
