Kalhiki Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Lennox's Lion Attack: Yay or Nay? Thinking about getting this just because I'd like some "good guy" sets and I want a Lion Minifig (and the Croc is nice too). Plus it looks kinda cool. I just don't know if it's worth my money. Whoever has it, is it any good? Kalhiki Quote

Whoever has it, is it any good? Kalhiki Minifigs are very good, but the set itself is mediocre. Good colors and parts, but I'm not a big fan of the design. It's a lion head on a Technic chassis with little detail beyond the front. Of course, I'm far beyond the target age group, but it seems lazily designed to me, as do many of the other Chima sets. just2good Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) No problem, thanks once again! Here you go. I used the new album feature, so you can sift through the photos! If it's not working, look at 'em here! Edited January 4, 2013 by just2good Quote

CM4Sci Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Uh oh. I was trying to test out Laval's Speedor on the Target Practice shooter (which doesn't even work) and I yanked the ripcord out really hard. The wheel made a buzzing noise, so I set it down, aiming at the shooter. It shot, I lost the missile, and then I noticed that there was a big silver line running down the blue wheel. What do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GknKjwGKxt0 -Sci Edited January 4, 2013 by CM4S Quote
PenPlays Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) With enough use the blue tire begins to wear. I sense Speedor replacement packs sometime in the future. I have three Speedorz that are showing some wear, so you aren't the only one. I just haven't seen it... that bad. You might want to call Lego's Customer Service to see if you can get a replacement. They should send it for free, being that it's a replacement. You should also check to see if the mark came from the surface you were using, and if it can wash off. The Speedor wheel is made of metal so be careful, it may cause future rust. It just occurred to me that the wacky language I was reading on the cards were just the weapon names. If you sound it out right, there are just mish-mashes, or respellings of words that if pronounced right make sense. Edited January 4, 2013 by Penkid11 Quote
WhiteFang Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 The bios, vehicle sets and weapon names are very nice to read as it actually provide a greater insight to this new universe. Quote

I filled out a form for a replacement part of that (didn't think they'd have it), and I'm awaiting e-mail. Oh, did I also mention I got these less than 7 hours ago? -Sci Quote
DarkSurgeXL Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Not sure, if it was not posted here yet, but there is another trailer for the Chima TV show, and there we can get a closer look on a rhino. http://chima.lego.com/en-us/videos/tv-series/tv-series-trailer Quote
Echo Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Lazily designed was far too strong a term. I think it's just that I'm beyond the target age group of this theme. I still think that this theme is probably a bit lower in design quality in comparison to Ninjago, the theme it was supposedly replacing, but I suppose they work well enough. Quote

But all jokes aside, my Speedorz's tire just gets really dirty for odd reasons and it has a bump on the tire, not very satisfied with these results, and in your case it really sucks. M'Kyuun Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) I got my first two Chima sets today: Eris' Eagle and Laval's Royal Fighter. I built Eris' set already, simply because it's the best set in this theme, IMO, and a great example of what I wish the rest of the theme had been, or will be in future waves. I'll build Laval's tank tomorrow; however, as someone mentioned, it's a technic frame with a Lion face. To be honest, I got it for the figs. So far, I'm really impressed with the detail, accessories, and printing on these guys. Generally, i'm more interested in the sets than figs; the opposite holds true in this theme, Eris's Eagle Interceptor notwithstanding- it's very cool. I missed that Gorilla mech when watching the video earlier today. Since Mark Stafford has already built a rather cool gorilla mech as a MOC, I had hopes we'd see something like it in this theme, and hopefully realized as a set. As far as any comparisons to Thundercats go, I very much like the new show and the direction they were taking it. I'm saddened that it wasn't renewed, and if LEGO and the WB were in talks , I can understand how the folks behind the T-Cats show would be a bit miffed with TLG's Chima theme. I thought of Lion-O myself after first seeing Laval. Perhaps the Chima lions were created in anticipation of doing Thundercats. I doubt we'll ever know given the sensitivity surrounding licenses, not to mention respect for the folks involved. Either way, it wouldn't profit LEGO to back a failing show; having read some of the backstory, they've crafted a storyline that's different from that in T-Cats, although the look of the show does ring with familiarity. I hope it does well, and is at least as good as Ninjago. Actually, this appears to be darker in tone, which I find appealing. Also, with its success will come more sets, and to me, that's what it's all about. Edited January 4, 2013 by M'Kyuun Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 That's really a shame. Does it not work well at all without the blue stuff? I never had any problems with my spinners, it'd be pretty bad if we had to go down from there... Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 16th January there will be a one hour special, if that's what you're refering to. Other than that I don't think we've heard much about a show, but perhaps some one could confim? Woah. That soon? That's good to hear! I'm assuming the rest of the show comes after? The website says TV series, after all. Quote

Whoever has it, is it any good? Kalhiki Personally, Lennox's Lion Attack is the Chima set I most look forward to getting, and one of my favorite sets of the first wave. The lion head motif is brilliantly sculpted, it's got a neat launching function that stands out from most of the ones I've seen, and I like the model's proportions. Seems like a fun design all around. Anyway, loving the depth of story detail on the Chima site. It makes me really excited for the show and TV series. Edited January 4, 2013 by Aanchir Quote
Faefrost Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Dan Norton (the lead designer on the 201X Thundercats show) seemingling just found out about Chima today and, he's not happy (https://www.facebook.com/#!/Dingo107). Apparently there were discussions between WB and Lego about a TCats license but the talks fell apart and now we have this all new "original theme". Norton even pointed out that the images of the land of Chima are nearly identical in style and even color to the press packet WB presented for TCats This would carry a lot more weight he himself wasn't already vulturing somebody else's work. This is also far from the first time that when licensing talks broke down a company took their preliminary work and salvaged it to convert it into its own stand alone concept. "World of Warcraft" anyone? (I bet Games Workshop still spends nights drunkenly ranting at the sky over that one.) Quote

I got some of the dirt off using a Clorox® Wipe (Kill 99.9% of Viruses that Cause), which are available at your local grocery store for residents in the United States. bekindsorewind Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Are the rhinos and bears a sneak peak for 2014 sets? If it is true that's lame, the rhino is definitely one of the coolest head molds. Quote
Suspsy Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I wonder where the allegiances of the bears and rhinos will lie. I'm thinking the food-loving bears will side with Laval and the warlike rhinos will go with Cragger. Quote
Algernon Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Holy lord, LEGO is really going balls-out for this theme! I don't think I've ever seen so much media for a brand-new IP from them. I mean seriously! Three games, a TV show, books, card games, collectables, and even more than I've probably missed?? That's insane! The sets look interesting to me, but they're not groundbreaking. Just kind of neat. I bet the kids will eat this up, though. It's hard to argue with tribes of lion warriors driving tanks and ATVs against alligator warships. It's cool to me and I'm in my 20s. I think they're taking a gamble based heavily on the success of NinjaGo. For their sake, I hope it pays off - I'm thrilled to see LEGO realizing the profitability of original IPs. I'm so beyond sick of licensed themes that I can't even summon the energy to complain about them. Chima might be a bit weird, but it's still a fresh idea. I REALLY hope to see those Gorilla tanks in set form. Those look ridiculously cool. Quote
