DraikNova Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Well, I was at the LEGO store in Essen, Germany today, and while trying out the Speedorz, I got rather confused: How is one supposed to put the Speedorz down while the ripcord is in it? Quote
PenPlays Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 You hold on the Speedor, pull the ripcord out while holding it, then while the wheel is rolling, set the Speedor onto a flat surface. Quote
CM4Sci Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Bricklink has listed 4 new key chains! -Sci Quote
Aanchir Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I believe it'z juzt to make the namez look cooler for the target audienze. It's the reason why I call all of the hazards in the Speedor sets "Hazardz." Misspelling terms also makes them easier to trademark. That's a big part of why BIONICLE in its later years tended to avoid borrowing character names and other parts of its lexicon from real-world languages, instead often taking English words and corrupting them until they were sufficiently "foreign-sounding". Likewise, it's probably why so many Skulkin and Serpentine names in Ninjago follow this same naming trend to a lesser degree (examples: Kruncha, Nuckal, Spitta, Chokun, Lasha, Slithraa). The only thing that really frustrates me about Speedorz is that as far as I've been able to tell, it's just pronounced "Speeders", and the singular is Speedor ("Speeder"). So it makes the weird spelling seem somewhat pointless (compared to BIONICLE names, which usually would have felt unique whether written or spoken aloud). Quote
DraikNova Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Oh yeah, I saw those keychains yesterday in a LEGO store. Quote
PenPlays Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) ^^If you remember in the show, the Speedorz are literally pronounced "Spee-doors." Also all commercials pronounce them the same. I've only heard video reviewers call them "Spee-ders." Why? Because they haven't checked their sources. Same goes with the name puns for several of the Chima characters including: Eglor (Egg-lor), Winzar (Winter+obsessive "z"+scar), Ravens: Rascal, Razor, and Awesome with interchanged/extra letters. If you just take into account the pun, the names come to you quite easily. All except for names like Laval and Worriz. Another common mistake is pronouncing Rizzo, well, "Rizzo." Just like Pizza, there are to z's, and how is Pizza pronounced? "Peet-sa"..."Rit-so" like ritzy with the typical LoC letter interchange. Edited February 24, 2013 by Penkid11 Quote

I haven't watched any video reviews with sound, but I believe I had heard it as "Speeders" somewhere... might have been a designer video or something. Truly there hasn't been a theme since BIONICLE with such confusing pronunciations... but of course the TV show will definitely help with that. Quote

PenPlays Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 If I've offended anyone with my pronunciation rant, I apologize. I'm just a grammar freak. You'll notice most of my comments tend to have an edit notification at the bottom. Quote
PenPlays Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) It's because I proofread it before posting it (which I never do, so I won't lose my idea, which I would do quite frequently if I didn't post, then edit). Anyway. Amazon (US) has a pretty price tag on Cragger's Command Ship. 25% off with Prime shipping, I don't know anyone who could pass this up, besides myself (local Lego convention is coming up. There usually is old Lego sets there that I've wanted for years. I don't want to miss out!). Edited February 25, 2013 by Penkid11 Quote
CM4Sci Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Ahh. Nothing like coming home from a trip to see your room's door wide open, with Crawley's Claw Ripper broken apart. Luckily, nothing was damaged. I seriously need to get a better lock on that door. Great Danes can bust through anything. I do not like dogs. -Sci Quote
howie28 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Wow. So it is an inside dog? I have a dog too, but he doesn't come inside. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Good thing my dog is trained not to come upstairs, where my LEGO room is. Quote

CM4Sci Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 So when should we expect the novel? This fall. I'll call it LEGO & Dogs. But in all seriousness, I don't want to spam the topic about my unwise dog chewing my stuff. Sorry about that all. I picked up Wakz's Wolf Tracker this evening. The chomping function is really neat. I might upload a review. -Sci Quote

Tobias_Jay Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 (edited) My birthday was recently and I recieved Lennox's Lion Attack. I must say I am very very impressed. Not just with the figures (which are amazing ) but the model is great! It's quite simple but very good looking. The colour scheme reminds me of a lion. The stickers have great detailing. It makes me want more Chima! Gaah LEGO, why are you eating my funds away! Edited February 27, 2013 by Wall E2624 Quote
PenPlays Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 The colour scheme reminds me of a lion. NO! Really? I've always had this thing against the Lion attack. I haven't seen any good images (nor a sale) to entice me to buy it. I will get it eventually, but I have this feeling that if I wait too long, I'll miss it. UGH! I can't make up my mind!! Quote

PenPlays Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Razcal's Double Crosser is a Walmart exclusive! I knew it! NO!! Not another one!! The closest Walmart that carries toys is over a half hour away and completely out of my way! Add that and the orange Galaxy Squad Mech and you have a very peeved Penkid. Anyone willing to ship those two in particular to me for Wal-mart price + shipping would be gladly appreciated. Quote

Speaking of which, I was surprised to find my Walmart holding all of the reported polybags! I picked myself up the Razcal one, and like always, I reviewed it! Definitely not the best video review from me, but I was having technical problems whilst editing. For those not into video reviews, quick sum up: the vehicle is absolute garbage, and the figure and inverted brackets are the only cool thing about the set. Quote
Good Cragger Fan Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) Why is Crominus is being protrayed as a villain by LEGO having him in front of a red background on the side of the packaging in Cragger's Command Ship and on the back of the Boulder Bowling set's packaging when he has not done anything evil in the Legends of Chima TV series? This really bugs me (and I consider it as blasphemy!), as it seems that LEGO is trying to teach childen (and AFOLS) that all Crocodlies in the Chima World are bad and/or evil, which, in my opinon, is discrimination and/or prejudice against one entire animal tribe, or all reptiles for that matter (and don't you get me started on why Cragger is protrayed the same way!)? I'm saying this because in real life not all crocodlies are evil and/or nasty (in fact most are good or nutural at the worst -- they rarely eat people, unless they're threatened or if people disturb their home and/or their offspring), or for that matter, most reptiles are not evil in nature, since they only attack and/or eat humans if they or their homes are threatened there, as well as being hungery for food. This seems to me like LEGO is promoting the half-human, half-animal equivilant of racism within the Chima world; and this is especially very bad for children to see these things, since they would think that it is okay to be racist and/or prejudiced against other races and/or ethnic groups, and we already have way too much racism in real life as it is right now.
