Hi lego fans,

Reading through your replies i find it interesting how different taste people have :)

I have not voted as i have just started building lego again after 15'ish years "break". But if i had to vote i would go for either 8110 og 9398 because 8110 is quite technical and 9395 is just cool (and RC ;-) ), but i am excused as i don't know the technical beauty of the older models :-)

Cheers all :-)

I only voted 8110 & 9398 for the time being.

Ditto, as those are the only two sets on the list I have since I just got back into Lego this year. It would be interesting to see where 42009 fits onto everyone's list as it's already out now (I have that one too). :)

i would rank 42009 as high as the crane truck 8258... not as high as the 8110 and the 8043 - and also not as high as the 8455 (which i would rank at the same level as 8110 and 8043)...these three are the by far best sets of the studdless area until now....

@Kumbbl: totally agree with you

well i should make one addition: My praise for the unimog 8110 is onyl valid if the steering/front-axle is modded, because the out-of-the-box steering is nothing less than crappy - actually a shame for TLG releasing such a steering... luckily it can be fixed quite easily (or even with a complete new front axle from nicjasno)... but with fixed steering (and maybe moved batterybox into the bed for better weight balance) the Unimog 8110 is really a Top 3 model...

I'm so lucky I own quite all of them... I only miss 8436, 8421 and (unfortunately) 8258 (I'm always looking for a good priced, used, one).

My votes goes to:

8455 - Really compact, but one of most complete and plenty of function models ever... And, by far, the apex of pneumatic Technic sets

8285 - I didn't fully understand why it's considered one of the best sets ever... Until I built it...! It's really big, extremely sturdy, with a lot of manual operated functions and many different ways to operate them and, most of all, it has a very complete and realistic look (it's a really good set to display)

8275 - It's PF revolution, although it has few functions an no gearbox, it's really huge, heavy and with a nice mix of studded and studless parts that give a nice look

8043 - It's the set that brought me out of my "dark ages"... A real dream for every engineer: a remote controlled excavator build out of lego! Excellent and very complex gearbox that allow 6 PF functions out of 4 motors.

I just don't understand why 8461 Williams F1 is listed... It's a Racers set (not Technic) AND it's basically a re-release of 8458 Silver Champion, with new panels and different color scheme...

8431 should have been more appropriate for 2002 (worst year ever for Technic sets)... It's a re-release as well, but, at least it is a Techinic set and it's different from the others listed.

Just my 2 cts.

I got back into Lego in early 2013, so 8110 Unimog U400 is the first flagship I had the chance to buy, and the only flagship in the list that I have bought.

I also voted for 8043 Excavator cos it's a cool model.
