Zepher Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Boomingham shrugs at the duo. "Copper Fox said I was in. Perhaps he's got connections. Now where the hell is that captain?" Boomingham glances out across the deck and sees Nyx chatting with Mac. He swaggers back over. "Be careful, little lady. This man will rob you blind. Don't think I've ever won at Black Magic, but if you're going to be playing a round anyway, I'll throw down 10 gold on Fire." Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Skrall gently pokes the sleeping man, but what is a gentle poke for an ogre, is a bit more for most others. The man jumps up. "Ah! Ignacio's the name. Ignacio Skaldson. At your service, ser Ogre." "Stay calm we're takin' over the ship" Someone randomly calls out, "Aye Avast!" Skrall returns to the man, "Just kiddin' Mr. Skaldson. I was informed ya've traveled to our destination before. What is your appraisal of the fair city of Strivvi?" Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Bets: Nyx bets 5 gold on Fire. Boomingham bets 10 gold on Fire. Mac rolls the three coloured dice, and the results are: WIND, WATER, WIND. "Hope that is not an omen, but you lose, Heroes." "Heh, jokes like that in the waters where we'll be in a few days will not be appreciated, I'd say, Ogre. I have been to Strivvi before, yeah. It's a city much like Eubric, lots of thugs, injustice and all that. But it also the home of the best blacksmiths in the world. Arguably anyway, the dwarves make the same claim. The city itself is a marvel to behold. It has high walls made of sandstone you can never hope to climb, there is towers you wonder how they can stand! They say the city has never been captured or even the wall's breached. The city is build on the ruins of another city how I hear it though, don't know the details. The thing with Strivvi that gave it it's bad name is twofold. First thing is that slavery and the trade of slaves is entirely legal and open. Whereas in Eubric it's done quietly behind closed doors, in Strivvi it's no problem to walk up to a slavemarket and bid and buy what you want, and no one will give it a second thought. The other thing is that Strivvi holds Eubric, and more importantly Heroica responsible for the murder of their Viscount, around 15 years ago. A group of heroes were in town for unknown reasons, when the leader was supposedly assassinated. The Viscount was loved, and they are still without a new one. I don't know the details or what really happened, but you might want to keep quiet that you are from Heroica, when we arrive." Quote

Scubacarrot Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 "I hardly care about or dabble in such matters, but I do remember the names of two influential figures. Macros and Maxis, the two sons of the viscount, and both candidates to be the new Viscount." Quote
CMP Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 "Great...so the name of our organization, one of our best bargainin' tools, is supposedly involved with the assassination of their last leader," muttered Atramor from nearby. "Main business is slaves, eh? Do ya' know where they keep these slaves before they're sold off?" Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 "I don't know about any of that, sir. Slavery is nasty business. As a honest sailor, I kept to the brothel and the inn, saw the sights, when I was there." From the railing, the two ex-paladins called out to the party: "If you still want to help our fishing, you could!" "You see, we bought these special fishing rods, that were supposed to be able to catch mermaids..." "Mermaids..." "...But they don't work. We have figured out what the problem might be, though." "Apparantly they are not charged. You heroes should probably be able to do it though! 25 Ether will do it. Any of you can do it, and it does need to be one person." Quote
CMP Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Atramor nods to the sailor. "Aye, makes sense. I'm no fan of the trade either." He then turns to the ex-paladins, raising an eyebrow. Mermaids? Well, that sounded interesting. "Hell, I'll give it a shot." Atramor took the fishing rod, both it and his hands glowing a bright orange as he charged his remaining 16 ether into it. He paused, downing his Grand Tonic, then charged 9 more. "There." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 "Great, let's try this!" Both sailors throw their fishing hooks in the ocean. It was not before long, that they had something. CMP Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 (edited) Atramor rolls his eyes as the gigantic man-snake is yanked aboard. Figured. Without question, he whips out the brand new Heavy Flail, swinging the weapon wildly towards the Angry Naga from the front row, wobbling due to its unnatural weight. "Ellaria, any chance ya' could Encourage one of us using that Scroll of yours? Between Nyx, Boomin'ham, and Skrall dealin' so much extra damage, this battle'll be over before it starts. Hopefully." On the off chance I roll Special Mirror, do we get an Angry Sea Creature on our side too? Edited September 4, 2012 by CallMePie Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 On the off chance I roll Special Mirror, do we get an Angry Sea Creature on our side too? I guess! Quote
Sandy Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Ellaria agrees to Atramor's suggestion, and attempts to use her Scroll of Recklessness on Nyx, because she could deal elemental damage from the back row, so she would not be as vulnerable as the others. "Here's hoping this works!" she said, taking out her newly-acquired scroll for the first time. Quote
Zepher Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Boomingham's eyes widen when he sees the Naga. "What have you done there, chappo? Interesting catch. Ellaria, thanks for putting the scroll of our's to good work. Nyx, once Ellaria's hyped you up, mind taking care of that nasty crab while Atramor and I deal with the snake." Boomingham reaches into his pockets and extracts a mead, downing it's contents, before swinging his King of the Desert at the Naga from the front row. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 Don't forget the battle order. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Skrall excuses himself from the sailor. Noting that he can't reach Atramor in time, he draws his Hunter's Crossbow and fires off a shot at the Angry Naga from the back row. "I wasn't exactly in the mood fer seafood, but ya'll do." Quote

Rufus Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Having been hanging over the side of the ship for quite some time, Rufindel sees his friends in trouble and runs back to join the battle. 'Aha! Seafood. Take that, Crabby!' yells Rufindel as he bashes the Angry Crab from the Front Row. Quote
Pandora Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 "Oh Atters, you just had to see a mermaid, didn't you? What were you expecting? A half-naked fish-woman? Gah." Having rolled her eyes enough at Atramor, Nyx nods in agreement with Boomingham and does as she's asked. She pulls out her Emerald, hoping it will sympathise with Ellaria's goddess, and casts Wood magic on the Angry Crab through her Book from the back row. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 (edited) Result of Round One of the Angry-Sea-Creatures-Battle. Boomingham drinks Mead. Boomingham vs. Angry Naga - Damage (40 Health + 7 SP - 32 = 15 Health) Skrall vs. Angry Naga - Damage (34 - 32/2 = 18 Health) Ellaria casts Recklessness on Nyx - Unsuccesful (-5 Ether) Atramor vs. Angry Naga - Special Mirror (Dice rolls: Six and Six, Two Angry Seaweeds summoned!) Nyx vs. Angry Crab - Greater Spell (WP: 13 x 3 + Level 22 = 61 x 2 = 122 Damage Dealt, 1 Ether) Rufindel vs. Angry Crab - Damage (23 Health + 2 SP - 25 Health = 0 Health, K.O.) The heroes face off against the angry sea creature and his crustaceous companion. It does not go particuarly well. Boomingham and Skrall try a new strategy, with Boomingham rushing forward while Skrall provides covering fire. The Naga however, makes sure to keep Boomingham between him and the ogre, he hits Boomingham on the head with the fish weapon, and then suddenly slithers forward to Skrall, who also gets hit by the odd choice of weapon. Ellaria has trouble casting the strange metasimian scroll, and fails her cast. Nyx is not bothered by it though, and fires off a spell that hits the Crab. The enraged crab is not done, though, and with incredible speed and strength jumps up to Rufindel's face, and even more improbable, the poor cleric gets knocked out by the crab. Atramor can not prevent the Naga from calling forth an Angry Seaweed, but Atramor copies the sounds the Naga made, and another Angry Seaweed comes out of the ocean onto the ship, ready to aid the party! The Heroes now stand with six against three, but will the Seaweed be a more useful ally than Rufindel? Find out next round. Sandy Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Ellaria gasps as she sees Rufindel fall. These sea creatures were serious business. "Sylvania be with us! I will drink this nostrum in the back row I have to increase my luck. Then I'll have better chances with the scroll and calling out the roots of life (from the bottom of the ocean) so that Rufindel could join the battle again." Quote
Zepher Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Boomingham cocks his head at Ellaria. "Missy, care to tell me where you got so good at planning battle? You've truly got a gift. I've rarely seen someone think more successfully about what's better for the party. Atramor, keep up your attack, would you, chappo? And if your seaweed could fight the seaweed we just encountered, that'd be lovely. As for yourself, keep up your attack. What wonderful surprises you witches are packed full of. Never thought I'd be fighting alongside seaweed." Boomingham attempts to heal Nyx twice, and if his first attempt succeeds, he also heals himself. Battle Order Boomingham Ellaria Skrall SEAWEED! Atramor Nyx Quote
CMP Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 The Heroes now stand with six against three, but will the Seaweed be a more useful ally than Rufindel? Find out next round. I laughed. Atramor stumbled away from the Angry Naga as its furious hissing summoned a large, sentient chunk of seaweed from the side of the ship. Without thinking, he repeated the sound, and another mass of sealife splattered onto the deck. The Witch merely blinked at it, shook his head in dissappointment, and lunged yet again at the Angry Naga from the front row from with the Heavy Flail. He didn't see the Angry Seaweed glowing a faint orange and throwing itself at its twin from the front row. It emitted an odd gurgling sound as it did so, its translation only audible to Ellaria due to her druidic Animal Talk. <You lousy son of a bitch! This is for festering your slimy filth on my turf!> Quote
Sandy Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 "Missy, care to tell me where you got so good at planning battle? You've truly got a gift. I've rarely seen someone think more successfully about what's better for the party." Ellaria is visibly flustered. "Uh, if only I had thought about using the Nostrum before the battle, things could be better. Of course, this was quite a surprising battle... But thank you, sir, nevertheless. Now let us focus on driving these abominations back into the sea." Ellaria quickly turned her eyes away from the imposing paladin. Had he really meant his words, or was he just trying to rouse their morale? She could not tell... Quote
Pandora Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Nyx side-steps away from the emerging seaweed, trying very hard not to let the smell get to her, and trying very hard not to trip over poor unlucky Rufindel. Boomingham attempts to heal Nyx twice, and if his first attempt succeeds, he also heals himself. "Oh Larry, you are a sweetie, but I'm in perfect health right now. How about healing nice Mr Skrall instead? Or walloping the Naga? I know you'd enjoy that. " Nyx focuses once more on channeling Wood magic at the Angry Crab from the back row. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Skrall took a step back from the Naga, "Well well, this dinner bites back. Atramor see if ya can summon us up somethin' a little more helpful than a lump of lettuce next time. Yer Majesty, I believe the young magey miss, could do without yer healin' fer right now. Either attend to yer wounds or if ya've got some time and ya can sacrifice yer pride for the good of the company, I could use a healin' as well." Skrall reloaded and fired again at the Naga from the back row with his Hunter's Crossbow. Quote
