Pandora Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 "Nyx, the Monkey Bar and the Parasol are both accessories. I don't think ya' can use both at the same time." OOC: I thought I could equip a third accessory? There's the Parasol, the Robe and now the Monkey Bar. Is that not the case? I thought over level 20 we got three? Apologies if I have it wrong. Quote
CMP Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Artifacts are divided into categories, accessories, headwear, bodywear, backwear, handwear, and footwear. You can equip up to 3 artifacts, but they can't be in the same category. Quote

I apologize for the confusing terminology, but you can equip three artefacts, out of which one can be an accessory. Quote
Pandora Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 OoC Thanks guys, sorry for the confusion. Nyx forgets about the Monkey Bar and stuffs it back in her bag, still following. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 The party goes through the door, weapons raised. No one speaks a word, they open the door further and inside they find... No one. But they do find a whole mess, someone trashed the room. What will the party do? Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 "Either this Mortimor doesn't pay his maid very well, or our two black and brown dressed fellows were tryin' to find somethin' in here. Perhaps one of ya more learned chaps should take a look at those papers." Skrall returns to the entrance of the house and looks out to see if anyone is watching the house. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 Nobody seems to be watching the house. A few people pass by, but no one pays more than a second of attention to the ogre. Quote
Zepher Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Boomingham picks up a book or two and flips through them, barely paying attention to anything actually written in them. "It seems that our charges are intent on us exploring all of Strivvi in search of them," he chuckles merrily. He lifts the wine glass to see if any liquid remains. "I doubt they've hurt him. If they've got him, they'll want information from him. I'll assume he's still alive. By the sounds of it, however, they missed him entirely. Though that leaves us with a bit of a dead end. Hopefully whoever trashed the place left a clue or two intact as to where he might be." Boomingham checks under the table. "Last time someone wasn't home, they were eaten by their rug. Does anyone see a rug around?" Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Skrall calls back from the doorway, "Perhaps one of those maps has the location of that vault we're lookin' fer." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 The stone cup is empty. Under the table are just more blank papers. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 "Let's try this." Skrall attempts to open the chest and ascertain its occupants. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 The chest is locked. Skrall tries to break the lock, but he fails. Breaking the chest might hurt the contents, he figures, so the only option is to find a way to open the lock. Skrall takes a closer look, and sees that there are three digits on the lock, which you can turn to 0 to 9. It's a combination lock. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 "Atramor, you rogues come with lock picking skills don't ya?" Quote
Zepher Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 "Well, this isn't exactly my cup of tea. We don't know a thing about ol' Mortimor, how are we supposed to know the three numbers he had in mind." Boomingham rights the chair and sits in it. He picks up the bottle next to him to inspect for liquor. "Your guess is good as mine. Rogue, let's see if you can try your hands at the device." Boomingham reaches down and dials in the numbers 1-2-3. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 "You keep at it, I'll return to the front door. We don't exactly want any unexpected visitors thinkin' we're robbin' the place." Skrall returns to the front of the house. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) Unsurprisingly, the lock does not open. The bottle is closed with a cork, but it contains water. Edited October 25, 2012 by Scubacarrot Quote
Zepher Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 "Ah well, worth a shot." Boomingham picks up the knife on the desk. He pushes it gently into the palm of his hand, hoping to assess if it is still sharp. He then starts to peruse the documents on the desk to see if any of them might be interesting. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 The dagger seems to be made of stone, it's not particuarly sharp, but it looks old. Perhaps it is one of Mortimer's finds? On the desk are several pages from a journal, but it is in a language none of the present heroes understand. Also on the desk, several maps, some from the oceans around Strivvi, some from unmarked deserts. None of them jump out to Boomingham. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Skrall calls back, "Hey someone check on that coffin, for all we know they might have shoved Mortimer in there." Quote
Zepher Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Boomingham tosses down the papers, rises from the chair, and makes his way over to the coffin. "Have it your way, Ogre. I have no fear of the embalmed. Nyx and I have slain more than a couple in our day. As long as there's no scarabs in there, we'll be set." Boomingham tries to open the coffin. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) It does not seem to be a coffin, it's actually just the lid of one. Nevertheless, Boomingham does not seem to be able to move it. Edited October 25, 2012 by Scubacarrot Quote
CMP Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 "Aye, I'm good with gettin' things open, but I fear even my badass lockpicking skills won't affect this one." Atramor rifles through the books. McCafferey flaps away from his shoulder, landing on the coffin lid, and remarks vaguely to him as he skims each page. "I've never understood why humans are so inefficient at eliminating people and evidence simultaneously. It takes only a well placed torch or fireball." Quote
Sandy Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 It does not seem to be a coffin, it's actually just the lid of one. Nevertheless, Boomingham does not seem to be able to move it. Ellaria takes a closer look on the coffin lid. "Odd that it's fixed to its place... Maybe its a hidden door?" Then she turns to the books and papers and tries to find numbers that would help open the chest. She also examines the picture on the wall, giving it a gentle push. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) Atramor looks through the books, one of them's about growing plants in arid environments, one of them's about the creatures of the desert. Several seem to be journals in the strange language the party does not understand, and the last one is about excavating with explosives. On that one, Atramor sees something odd written on the top right of one of the pages. It's a small number 8. Ellaria finds no numbers on the papers, and her pushing the panel yields no result.
