You guys want to keep going with the Quest? But don't you know that makes your QM do work?! What if he had a lot of classes today and is tired. Doesn't that just make you feel awful? :hmpf_bad::tongue:

The party marches for an hour or so, each lost in their own thoughts, before arriving at the ruins of what must have at one point been a garrison for the Paladin Order.

Tesni and Alexis both climb the rickety old stairs and pluck the flower, and once more, the heroes see a vision of the past before them.

The party barely has time to react before the Angel fires a blast of white light at Wren. Only Triad is quick enough, quickly flicking her blade so that it becomes it takes larger than life shuriken form. She steps in front of Wren and her blade and she absorb the blow. She is flung backwards and lays still, wisps of smoke rising out from her robes.

Roderick swings at the Angel, but it catches his blade and flings it back, lighting up his chest with another spell that sends him to his knees, coughing. Wren chants a few quick words and fire spews forth. The Angel walks through it unscathed. Wren shoots a ball of darkness at it as well, but it continues it's advance on her, totally unharmed. Wren begins to stumble back in fear.

"You cannot hurt my friends!!!" screams the little bear-like creature as it digs it's twin sword into the Angel's shoulders. The Angel falls backwards, and the little creature drive his blades into it's chest countless times until it disappears in another flash of light. THe little bear-like creature tries to help Wren to her feet.

Wren nods dumbly as the bear-like creature walks towards Roderick and helps him to his feet as well.

Roderick does not say a word. He gets to his feet steadily, and then with one quick decisive motion cuts open the small creature's chest. The bear-like creature falls to the ground, unconscious already. Wren gasps and rushes to its side.

"Bal!" she cries out. "Roderick," she follows with a whimper. "What have you done?"

"You knew what had to be done, Wren. You knew we'd have to kill them off before we got to the Eye. What'd you expect? They're narrow minded. They'll try to stop us from summoning Zoot to his own slaughter. They'll act just as Sasha did. For that, they must all die before we get there. We can't have them defending the God of Chaos." Roderick spits on the body. "Bal got what was coming to him. Go see if Triad's dead. If she is, all the better. If not... well, we could still use her until we get to the Eye. Don't know what else might be hiding out in these woods."

Roderick walks away. Wren waits until he is out of sight before whispering to Bal.

"Bal... I can't save you now. Roderick would only cut you down again, and besides... I know you'd try to stop us. You are too brave Bal. But... I will seal you here. And others may come and save you. Maybe. Hopefully. Roderick does not understand, Bal. He does not love the light, but he does not love Chaos either. He will get what is coming to him. He forgets that even Chaos gives everyone what they deserve."

Wren seals the little creature and then turns to Triad. She feels her pulse and sighs with relief.

"You get to live a little longer, at least," she says. "Perhaps you'll have the wisdom to run before we arrive at the Eye. Please run before then, Triad. We cannot be stopped. Zoot wants us to come. Please."

Wren reaches into her robes and extracts a Phoenix Essence. She pours it down Triad's throat, and slowly the Ranger comes back to life. She takes one look at Bal. Wren simply shakes her head and helps Triad up.

Ah! Cronk cannot see! Where all friends go?! How Cronk supposed to save brave little teddy bear when Cronk cannot see?

Since Cronk cannot find enemies to attack, Cronk will stand in back row shout encouragement to friends. GO CRONK"S FRIENDS!

It sound counter intuitive but maybe battle go easier if friends able to fight get rid of angel's ether this round before angel does too much healing. Arthur can still attack one Aura with magic. Cronk can absorb free hit from other aura.

Cronk will stand by to heal next two rounds. Haldor could perhaps make conditional action to heal most injured friend and put Haldor at bottom of battle order unless Haldor want use scroll.

Arthur waits to see if Cronk's Diplomacy is successful, but in case it fails, he flicks the blade into its Shurken form and prepares to Cast a Darkness Spell from the Back Row at Aura B, channeling the magic through the Acerpusculum Shuriken.

OOC: Couple questiohns: 1. Which WP is used for spells on the Acerpusculum blade, out of curiosity? And 2. Will attacking the Angel drain its Ether, or will the damage just be redirected to the Auras? Actually, which Aura will it redirect to, Aura A or Aura B?

EDIT: If attacking the Angel will NOT drain its Ether, then I'd suggest Alexis attack the Angel to prevent its Free Hit, Tensi can use Cysogdion to attack Aura B, and Arthur will use his Scroll of Frailty on Aura B from the Back Row.

OOC: Attacks on the angel drain it's ether. It uses the butt-load of ether it has to heal the auras every round. It heals the auras and the auras prevent the angel from taking damage. We want the ether gone.

Hello, Mr. Angel. Cronk is Cronk's name. Cronk is Paladin devoted to Righteous Light of Ennoc. Cronk and Cronk's friends are here to track down what happen to party that accompany the witch Wren into valley. Party not mean to cause disturbance or tread on holy ground. Cronk only want to save beings manipulated by Wren and figure out way to stop Wren. So if Angel could stop attacking party, Cronk would be happy to talk things out peacefully.

Tesni stands, momentarily dazzled by the light, though not blinded like her comrades. "Cysgodion, I am in need of your aid friend." She draws her blade of darkness and the pommel stone glows in recognition and power. "You may be holy but that does not make you right." Tesni prepares to take on the angel from the front row.

"I just thought of something. Brunt's cursed crown will lay a Curse on the first enemy I strike this battle. If I can strike the Angel rather than the auras, It'll slowly lose health while we whittle away at the Auras. Can one of you switch to an aura?" Arthur shifts his target to the angel, still from the Back Row.

The Angel takes a long pause.

"But you are the only one here with a glimmer of light in you. I would like to spare you and save you and train in in the true ways of Ennoc. If you sit out this battle, I will bless you on your way. Do not ask for your friends to be spared. They have darkness in them. They are too far from salvation."

OoC: If Cronk sits out this battle, he will be given the blessed effect for the next battle, and also be gifted with two somas. Also, I still need an action/battle order, even if you're blind and doing nothing this round, Scorpiox.

"Take the angel's advice, Cronk. We'll be fine, and in better shape for the next battle." Arthur watches his allies' movements, and, remembering that the Angel is immune to magic, switches back to Aura B.

OOC: Zeph, could you clarify whether or not attacking the angel while the auras are still alive will drain the Angel's ether? And can you clarify how casting a spell through the Acerpusculum Blade/Shuriken works (i.e. which WP is used)?

Um.... it pretty clearly states how attacking the angel works in the post with the battle. I know it's there because Corny read it and clarified it for you. :wink: Attacking the angel will drain it's ether. I don't know how to say it simpler than that, so I hope that makes sense? As for the WP used... this is probably why we're not allowed to make unique weapons :tongue: . I'd say that the rules apply as stated (backrow 21, front row 15).

Haldor stumbled back, covering his eyes."Argh, so many of these twisted servants of Ennoc. I'm starting to get a bad impression of how this just and fair God raises his minions. Too far from salvation, not worth saving? Last time I checked, we weren't the ones cheerfully trying to slay a group of heroes for just strolling through your domain. Stupid bloody hypocrites." The Nord rested behind a rock, rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand. Once he had regained his sight, the Shaman hung back and waited to heal Alexis if she was hurt, or anyone else who fell victim to the Angel. "Aye, thank you for the assistance Arthur. Cronk, you're welcome to take the thing's deal, if only for the rewards that he promises, not for his sake."

Cronk knows angel refers to Roland. Cronk is not an executioner. True justice knows mercy and compassion. That something a servant of real Ennoc would know. If Cronk would gave struck down unarmed man, Cronk would be no better than evil Cronk love to bash.

Angel would ask Cronk to abandon friends? Cronk has pledged to see quest through to end. Cronk will not break pledge.

Some of Cronk's friends may not be purist of beings, but Cronk must have faith that friends can be redeemed. Angel's vision is clouded with anger if Angel cannot see potential for good in Cronk's friends. Cronk must stand by friends and hope that Cronk's influence allow seeds of justice to sprout in friends. Cronk will not abandon friends to darkness while hope remains for light.

Cronk is willing to remain top in battle order but Cronk would like to try to heal Alexis form back row. Cronk might as well and Cronk might be lucky and summon Cronk's angel to protect against this angel.

Haldor could try conditional thing again in case Cronk fail or another friend get damaged.

Haldor crouched down by a nearby rock, utilising any cover that he could find. His vision was still hazy, and the Nord didn't fancy having a hack at the angel while he could barely see two feet in front of him. The others in the party who knew the ways of magic were scrambling to cast off spells at the advancing foe, and Haldor himself got busy. He marked out his friends in the blinding light of the creature, and prepared to heal Alexis if Cronk failed to do so, but if the Orc was successful, he would heal any other member of the party that took damage that turn. "Never worry, I'll have myself righted by a few turns. Keep at him while I'm down, comrades."

The battle rages. Cronk heals Alexis back up to perfect health before she and Tesni wail on the Angel, who continues to seem to absorb the blows with ease. Arthur lands one successful blow on one of the aura's, but the Angel heals it back up to near perfect health. The battle ranges on. Physically, the party seems fine... but their ether is beginning to wear down.

OOC: Wait. How did the angel heal that aura completely? I thought it could use an ether to heal each aura for 35 once per round. You never said it could do it multiple times a round.

One more turn for Cronk to sit out. Cronk will do nothing from back row.
