Look at the control room for the ship, on the roof there seems to be a new part, round like a fig head looks like a mini radar dome...

Its not new, there were trans pale blue ones of these in one of the belville sets my daughter got last year (think its bed knobs from princess and the pea set - 5963)

Lego is so going in the right direction. Most of these sets, especially that gas station, are better than alot of classic town sets (from what I can see... I may be missing huge <insert that tiresome argument> pieces). This is awesome!

Agree. They do seem to be steering back to quality designs.

The arrival of these pics was one of my coolest Christmas presents this year... (oh, and the "fold-a-day" paper aeroplane desk calendar my wife got me X-D ). I'll take one of each please!

I was just noticing the gasoline prices on the little sign in front of the filling station and wishing that I lived in Legoland and paid those prices for fuel... lol

The seaport looks pretty good, but the crane is going to need some modding for sure. I like how the crane in 6542 worked better. The bridge elements seem like neat idea.

Next year.

A new Yellow City train station nr.7997 will from come in september 2007.

That's awesome news! Where did you hear this? Now my engine shed won't be so lonely. *wub*

so is it small or big??? make up your mind people!!! *wacko*

does it look anything like 4554 or is it as modern as 4513??

God september seems soooooo far away!!!

Any more information about the train station?

I'm also curious as to where you heard this info?

i've always known him to be a reliable source ;-) ; let's leave it at that...

I'm not particularly happy or unhappy with a new trainstation, I just hope it's gonna be better than the new airport...

Understand.

It's got to be better than the last. I actually own the last one, but never liked it. It was just too modern. Reminded me of a submarine base. In fact, it would have worked well with the new Aquaraiders.

The city set 7998 will be a green cargo hauler and will be available in the summer of 2007.

Still a new set! Please stop with news! My wallet will not support them all! :-D

2007 will be a very expensive year, I can feel it!

A cargo alone will be a nice addition to the harbor.

whats a cargo hauler???

Anything that transports cargo (to haul = to transport, to carry, to move...). Sounds like another truck, maybe a trailer truck like we had in the past.

Well, after having had some time to check the pictures of the new sets I can say that they look great but don't at the same time.

I like the two new trucks. To me it seems TLC designers found out how to do a decent truck and seem to like it (see also the alternate model of the Cool Cars Creator set). Now they only need to find a way to make decent "civilian" vehicles ;-)

The gas station looks cool. Too bad they stopped with brand names like Shell or Exxon but at least they stick with Octan so it fits perfectly with existing stuff. I have enough gas stations now (4 I think) and won't buy this one but it has elements I like and will try to "emulate" with my stations. I like the black bike, but that's available at bricklink already :-)

I was excited about the harbor. When I saw the pic at first I seemed to be right, but after having seen the picture over and over I don't really like it anymore.

The ship is quite a good successor of 4030 but lacks something. A swimming hull sure is something to lure kids, I couldn't care less and would prefer a brickbuilt or at least modular hull.

The harbor itself just doesn't have the feeling of 6541 or 6542. I also don't like the baseplates, I already have lots of the old ones and these don't fit (OK, I could use 'em for something else).

The crane I don't like at all. It's no cargo crane and it just doesn't has the look & feel of the one in 6541. The crane arm looks kinda awkward.

And I don't like that the truck isn't a trailer truck. A container truck has to be a trailer truck.

The containers I'm somewhat indifferent about. I have so many different containers now that I don't really care about continuance anymore.

Still, the harbor is a great set compared to what was produced in the late 90s/early 00s and a great addition for any city that doesn't have a harbor yet.

The cargo transport thingy looks cool but it's too big for my taste. I don't mind that it doesn't have a string because IMHO it's how these things work. The arm extends and moves up and down - not much more needed. A string would make it a crane which it isn't. So, no complaint there from me, except for the size.

Overall: pretty good City additions, especially the colors (not just white and red and yellow) *y*

Oh come on! At this rate there's no secrets left for the last bit of '07! I might as well reveal that 7996 is a new piece of (RC-)track previously unseen in the history of Lego trains. Oddly, the cross-track is not making a return this year (but then again, I don't recall there being any 7995, cross your fingers). 7996 is due august, if I remember correctly.

7998 is 7900's successor by the way. 8-wide and very long, altough this time it's a regular truck with a seperate, self-supported trailer. The latter featuring steering too, if I remember correctly. Expect prices slightly higher than 7900.

Edit; A switchover-crossing I think it's called. Basically two switches integrated into a single piece, with the adjacent tracks crossing in the middle, altough you'll need both pieces in the box for it to function the way it's intended. 8-studs between parallell tracks, will allow very flexible layouts at a low cost, and will work nicely with the train shed. Dimensions; 64x24 studs fully operational (est).
