AmperZand Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 My nephews who are small kids are getting into CMFs and minifigs generally. They seem to like any male minifig with a melee weapon or a cape. I mostly like ones that are fantasy/horror/historical such as the elf, minotaur, sea king, evil knight, Spartan, caveman, pteropine vampire, musketeer and fairy. In your experience, do adults and kids like the same ones? When AFOLs army build, are we depriving kids of the minifigs they want? Does TLG aim some CMFs at adults? fred67 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 There's so much to like - I collect whole sets, but the kids (one son, one daughter) often want the same ones, but they each like others that the other one doesn't like. We all like the "fun" ones: the costumed ones (bunny suit, ape suit, lizard suit) and the monsters; my daughter goes for some of the women (pop singer, punk rock girl and skater... but not others, like the Geisha or the tennis player). My son does like the fighters of any era, fantasy, sci-fi, whatever. In other words... people like what they like and there's so much to like that interests often overlap. Quote
Faefrost Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 It varies wildly. A lot depends upon the adult and the kid in question. But there will be a ton of crossovers for both groups. for the kids subject and accessories matter more than printing or details. So for series 8 say, the kids (at least the younger ones) probably have little use for figs like the businessman, the DJ or the Actor. Nothing "actiony" there. Aliens, robots, the Pirate, the Diver, the Conquistador are absolute heaven for them. Quote
Dunjohn Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Hmm. I've never actually thought about anything that might link my favourites. Let's see, what have they been, S1 Zombie, S6 Aztec, S4 Werewolf, S5 Boxer, S1 Spaceman.... Can't really see a theme. Whenever a new series gets revealed I tend to examine and judge each minifigure individually, and decide based on their parts or the kinds of scenes I imagine using them in whether I really like them or not. The star of S8, for example, will likely be the DJ, and he doesn't sit easily beside any of the ones listed above. I guess I just like what I like. Quote

Ones that you really only need one or two of and those that you can gets tons of and make group/army/team out of. Those of course being the ones that tend to sell out sooner.
