Hi there,

some days ago I saw an Unimog at the highway. Nearby stood a man with a remotecontrolled mower. This was it, one more piece for the Mog.

I search the net a while and found the mower.

I started building one prototype to check if it's able to build. After that prototype I made the LDD. And to move this machine it needs a trailer... The scale should fit to the Mog.

Here's the prototype:

And here are the LDD-screeshots.

The housing of the mower is able to fit three motors... So maybe I'll build it with motors... First of all I have to order some parts at BL and I have to destroy 8043... Let's see...

I'll add this MOC to the Attechment-thread for the Mog, when it's finished...

So far

Thanks!

Hmm, yes, but I don't know if there's enough room for the pump... Let's see...

The mower looks pretty cool. Why would it be used over a regular MOG?

It's smaller, lower, less ground pressure, lower centre of gravity. Whichever of those is more relevant to the situation.

So it can mow under overhanging trees, further up steeper banks or on steep slopes with obstructions, on muddy slopes, or on smaller strips.

Thanks at all for your praise.

@Moz: Thanks for your explanation!

When I first saw this machine, the operator mowed the steep bank at the highway. He stood several meters in a safe distance from the driveway. And the Mog "just" comes in for transportation.

Cool. I was imagining it being used with the boom mower mog as a kind of secondary mower for the stuff the boom can't reach. But by itself makes just as much sense.

It's likely that that mower could stand up to being rolled better than a unimog, and it's less likely to roll in the first place. So like many robots/ROVs, there are advantages both in less likely to be damaged in the first place, and cheaper to repair if they do get damaged. No more going to the hospital and saying "can you stick my mower man back together" :(

This is something I would have loved to have back when I had to deal with some ugly mowing jobs. At first sight I assumed it was a flail mower but I suspect it's just a standard roller mower. But when I was a kid a remote controlled flail mower would have been my dream if such things existed (they didn't, at the time). We had a lot of steep, brush-covered hillside that I was paid pocket money for clearing with hand tools. That thing would just go "bzzzzzzt" and it'd be done. When we got a flail mower it got easier, but we couldn't use it in some places because it was too dangerous to drive on them...

Moz, it is a flail mower...

D'oh. I r geeneeuz! Thanks for the link.

Hi folks,

used the last days to fit a battery pack an one motor in the chassis - holy c... Too bad, that there's not enough space for two more motors and an IR receiver...

Here's a screenshot of the LDD.

Have fun.

Nice. I could have used something like that when I had to mow a steep incline. I think it would have been safer for me. :classic: It looks like it could support a snowblower attachment for the winter season.

dr_spock: you're right, it can carry a snowblower or a snowplow.

Very nice mower! What part are you using for the tracks?

Thanks Tim, I used BL Part# 53992 or 680c01.

Thanks Pat-Ard.

Such a cute looking robot with a flailing device in the front. :cry_sad: Nice robot... stay away from me! It's models like this that make me wish there were S motors.

Oh yes, small motors would be great!!! Or even smaller batterypacks... At the moment I can only fit one motor in... :sceptic:

But I think small motors wouldn't have enough power.

hmmm, I'm kind of frustrated... with the original battery pack I only get one motor in the mower... Did anyone ever tried a 6LR6 battery? It's small and I could fit three motors in the mower...

  • 3 months later...

Hi Pat-Ard,

can you post some Screenshots / Photos from the inside of the mower?

Greetings from Leverkusen, Mike
