jonfett Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 http://news.lugnet.com/lego/?n=3180 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the last few weeks, some 60 applications have submitted for the LEGO Ambassador Program. For a program that has only just started, and has no tangible benefits (at the time of announcement), that Quote
Orlego Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 I really don't get this program. Really, there are many of us who are LEGO Ambassadors in our own way. I just wonder if our connections will be cut off from people like Jake. Will we be told we can no longer directly talk to him and other connections without going through a "LEGO Ambassador"? Or is it just to avoid the bigger picture such as the color changes? |-/ Quote
jonfett Posted February 1, 2005 Author Posted February 1, 2005 I am not sure how it will work directly, but hopefully we will still keep in contact with Jake. The only real advantage of it that I can see is they will be "the only people in the world who are able to display the LEGO Ambassador logo" ;) Jon. Quote
Jipay Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Damn we havent been choosen that's not fair ( :-D ) ! WHat amaze me is that most of the people are from USA : 9 out of 15 ! The only one I know is huw since he runs brickset. Never heard of the other :/ I find the whole thing pretty vague : no email adress, no website, just a logo with AFOLS facing an ambassador smiling. snefroe Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 i recognise the name Marc Sandlin. he used to have a great website, but i haven't seen any recent work of his, and the last stuff i saw was not his best ... the us leads... for some reason... No one from Asia either... they obviously didn't try to involve the entire world... and you're right: we don't get much info about these people or even the selection procedure... only 60 candidates... i don't think that's a major succes, do you? i mean, every 6 months 15 new guys? wow! it will take tlc just two years to get them all on board! en we still don't know what exactly it is that they're going to do... i'm also not running warm for this logo. many AFOL's associate minifigs with toys for children... not particularly what some of us would like to see... Vader Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 This just plain sucks and why not choose an even amount from both sides of the atlantic? :( Quote
Jipay Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 USA is the biggest market blablabla... Well I'm still not sure it's the most profitable though :( 1 german only is really impressive since germany is their second largest market. Anyway this programm is dfeinitly weird. It sounds like politic to me. People elected to represent other people. >-| Quote

The Middleman Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Possibly they think they already have an established market in Europe, but need to expand more in the US? Or maybe they just have more tasks for the Ambassadors in the US. Quote
Jipay Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Well I don't see the point of putting so many people from the US when you have nobody from asia russia or even australia. I don't there is more to do in those markets. The fact is that i dunno anybody on this list so if I have a problem, I can't go and see anyone (actually i would go and see DoubleT because he will then ask to lego but he is not an ambassador) Quote
snefroe Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 this shouldn't even be about markets or market potential. it seems to me that they just picked 15 names from the list, and they probably looked for webmasters of some well-known sites first. in any case, none of these speak on my behalf... we don't even know what these people think. they don't present themselves on this forum,... as representatives they have no credibility what so ever...
