As the heroes arrived one by one, they noticed that there really was an entrance to the slums now. A sturdy wall was being built around the poorest quarters of Eubric.

A woman of the Town Watch was standing below the scaffolding, observing the construction work of the dwarven builders. Her posture stiffened when she saw the motley crew approach.

"Halt! If you are going to sabotage the building of the Hovel Wall, I am going to have to apprehend you!" The woman - still a girl, really - was obviously new in her line of work. Watchmen rarely showed such sense of duty.

IC: De'kra looked up and down the wall, his eyes flashing green. Finally he forced his eyes to crystal, and clicked neutrally, "We not come here to destroy wall. This is first time I for one heard of it, why is it being made? I assume construction of wall is heavily oppose, if that is your first thought when you see people?"

Hybros stands silently among the small army of heroes present. He noted a few familiar faces, like De'kra and Guts. He listened while the other heroes responded to the guard.

Not really caring to answer the watch woman''s question Dreyrugr stayed silent waiting for others to answer for him.

Upon arrival, Thothwick surveyed his group for familiar faces. The Elven maiden, the small creature wrapped in brown cloth and the serpentine Naga were all familiar faces from Dastan, although Thothwick had only barely interacted with one of them. Mr. Hybros and Mr. Daggerfall were with him in the Arena, but due to Thothwick's incarceration throughout most of the Quest, he hadn't interact with either of them much. Mr. Harkenshire was the only familiar face he knew well, and upon setting his eyes upon Ms. Cinna, he knew the Quest wouldn't be a world away from Witches. The others were all strangers to him. Being dragged from his state of reminiscing, Thothwick used his new found intimidation on the guard.

"Stand aside, my dear. We have no interest in the Hovel Wall, but we do have business on the other side. Let us past."

Benji is too busy trying to figure out what the chances of assassinating all the dwarfs working on the wall to respond to the foolish woman.

In the meantime, Benji turns to fellow questee Alexander Vandangant who happened to be standing beside him and looking at the other questees inquisitively. "Hello there, you're new aren't you? I see that you made a good choice - rangers are the best type of warriors. I should know... I used to be one. The name's Benji Carvenhall."

Chris joins the small group gathering around the guard women. Seeing the less than polite response of his companions to what he considered a harmless question, he quickly begins to scold them, "Come on everybody, she's only

doing her job, no need to get all worked up over nothing."

He then approaches the young guard and using his most Diplomatic voice says "Forgive my friends they seem to think that just because we are on a quest from Heroica

we don't have to respect the law. Anyway I applaud your sense of thoroughness. It's only natural to be suspicious of a group with enough weaponry to siege a small castle. But I assure you that we have nothing but the best

interest of the City and it's people at heart. And we intend respect the law and all its representatives during our stay."

Guts stretched his arms, and walked up to Sarick, he said with a grin on his face:

"Scaly! Long time no see! Ready to find this dog or kid or whatever it is we have to find?"

Guts quickly downed a Mead, a Smelling Salts and a Nostrum.

The watchwoman's face went red as she was questioned by the crowd of heroes. Some of them were more softspoken, others brash.

"Oh, you may pass if you like", the woman said, stepping aside. "It's just that things have started to go crazy in the Hovels. Our patrols have been kidnapped, the poor have begun to riot, and dozens of greenskin slaves have escaped and gone into hiding there. The houses in power have decided to erect this wall with haste to contain these problems before they spread any further. But if you ask me, it's already too late... Oh well, this city has been heading for the dumps for a long time already. Go on, don't mind my babbling. Just beware. The people of the Hovels are on the edge, and the gangs are taking full advantage of this, so even a well-armed group like yours can get into trouble."

With those words of warning in their mind, the party of sixteen entered the hovels. The barbarian named Erik Tyrvarr was yet to make an appearance, but he could still catch up with the others if he hurried. Together the heroes decided to name Namyrra Uq as their party leader, since the Fenarian had shown excellent strategic thinking in past quests. It would require a lot of that to control a group this big.

As the heroes walked down the narrow street, a little girl stepped in their way.

"Please, good sirs and ladies... Could you spare a few pieces of gold? I'm so hungry..."

As the echo spotted the youth he clicked, "I have some gold to spare." The echo immediately handed over 10 gold, though the temptation to give over all of his gold was strong. Still, giving over this pathetic symbolic variable in large amounts might stop the child from trying to work on their own. Likewise as much as the echo hated to consider it, De'kra had been lied too plenty of times before. It might not be a good idea to give too much.
