Scubacarrot Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Guts picks up the sword, and swings it at his back, and ties it down with some leather straps. He then proceedes to divide the loot he got from the southern battle: Raven gets the Wrench, the Water Bomb and the Deadly Venom, while Mizuki gets the Phoenix Essence and the venom. Guts keeps the Smelling Salts for himself. "Raven, if you want, I have a WP: 5 Hollow Dagger you can borrow, for the remainder of the Quest." Quote
Tanma Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 "In that case I'd like to borrow it for the duration of the quest it seems to be in better shape then my sword." IC: De'kra nodded in agreement, and handed over the accursed blade. It's dark hilt was forged in the image of a bat's wings, flat and sharp. Honestly though the shape did not bother De'kra, rather it's source offended him. Constantly. Quote

Sandy Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 QM Note: Chromeknight, your statistics are correct. You had them wrong initially: your total health/ether is the class-related base plus one per level-up (not per level). See the numbers in parentheses for reference. Also, I renamed your Torch to Torch Staff to separate it from other items of the same name. Flare, you forgot to divide the High Heels, too. All the non-divided items are now stashed in your inventory. The heroes look at the carnage around them. The square is littered with the bodies of the rioters. Save for a few observers, everyone else has fled out of sight. Admiral Bonaparte turns to the party that is gathering it's ranks. "Thank you, champions of Heroica! You arrived just in the nick of time! I did not think the rabble would have had it in them, but times are desperate, indeed. You people are truly every bit as valiant as my dear wife has told." "Oh, you silly man! You've seen Heroica's feats countless times. You just don't want to admit that the Bonaparte Fleet isn't the only mighty force in the city." Everyone who fought in the battle now has increased reputation with the Bonapartes. The Bonaparte Cannoneers leave the party, and Sir Christopher and Thothwick rejoin. "But heroism is sometimes messy business", Hestia Bonaparte says, looking around at the bloodbath. "I know that well from my years in the organization. Luckily I have something that will fix this right up." The admiral's wife takes out a colorful orb from her waistbag. The orb radiates a bright light, and as Hestia rubs it, the light envelops the whole square. Much to the party's surprise, when the light subsides, all the dead people are revived with their gushing wounds healed. One by one the people rise, realize that they have been brought back from the brink of death and given a second chance, and run away. Only the four riot leaders are seized by the Elite Cannoneers. They are still too weak to fight back, especially since their precious weapons have been stripped away from them. "This is much more to my liking. The poor might be rising against us, but that does not mean we should mercilessly butcher them." "Wise you are, my darling wife. She's a true benefactor, you know? That is why we were here in the first place; to discuss donations with the Oracle. But what comes to these four..." ,the admiral says, glaring at the riot leaders, "- they will get what they deserve. They shall not be allowed to rile up these unfortunate souls ever again. We don't need any more troubles in Eubric than we already have." The Bonapartes bid farewell to the party, and leave with The Four tied up. The party can now access the Shrine of the Oracle. -obelix- Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Thalion stood dazed and amazed that such a great battle was over. Still, he recalled that spoils from the Northern Assault were not divided (aside from Cap)... "If nobody minds I could use that Gaudy Cloak and a small tonic {since they are about the only things that can help me stay alive and help out in the battles to come} from the Northern Assault. And if the leaders should listen to a rookie like me, give the Grand Tonic to Namyrra, Nerwen or Cinna since they can make better use of it then Sarik or myself. Also, since all the good weapons were distributed I would like to ask anyone who has a spare staff or dagger to borrow me one..." Quote

Honestly the resurrection didn't impress him much. Yes it was nice that they showed mercy, but if the poor were not so crushed this won't have happened at all. It still went back to the Bonepartes. As he watched them leave, the voice whispered; "Why trust the Ji Pei?" "Because they are homely," muttered De'kra after a pause, "and because they are not fully of Eubric's system. Not to mention they might be try to sabotage houses." "Evil is not a brotherhood," the voice whispered, before falling silent. OOC: Need Ji Pei Quest! Edited September 18, 2012 by Tanma Quote

Fred Fred Burger Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Chris rejoined the group. Releaved that no one had died, and still glad that he had stayed out of it. He made a mental note of Hestia's kindness, she at least had his respect even if none of the other Bonapartes did. "Maybe this was the best course of action." he said to guts through gritted teeth. More than a little unhappy to acknowledge that he was right. "I see no reason to delay any longer, let's go to the Temple." He said walking off towards the temple of the oracle. Quote

Scubacarrot Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 "Let me tell you something, Ape. The Bonapartes were about to be lynched. And that ain't a pretty sight. I have seen it happen, a mass of people ripping a few apart. It turns men into beasts, no rationality, just a gory mess of blood and bone and the stains on the sidewalk. It changes you. It can't happen, it must not happen, no one, even if they had done the most terrible crimes, no one deserves that fate. Not the victim, but neither does the inflictor. For it is they that will have to live with the thought that they ripped someone apart. It's the very fabric of what sets us apart from animals, monsters or the undead. I don't expect you to understand, your people, the metasimians, are not known for their rational behaviour. The metasimians in this city leave their victims festering in the streets as a scare tactic. But I am no beast, and I want to remain that way. I won't live with the thought I contributed to an atrocity as was about to happen right here." Guts sighed, he spend way too much time arguing with the fools, you would always have people that just want to see something burn, or disagree just for the sake of disagreement. The events here reminded him of an event a long time ago, and for a short time, a few seconds, Guts -or whatever his name was- was back there. People shouting left and right, plumes of smoke in the distance over the houses. A young child, all alone, can be seen crying, holding an old doll. Then, more people blocking the view, and pushing the hooded figure away. The people were moving to somewhere, and they were shouting all kinds of things. What was said was incoherent and in many languages, but the general idea was clear; the people wanted blood. In the distance a small group of people can be seen in a clearing in the masses, holding weapons. An older man in armour holding a large axe, a woman, little more than a girl, wielding two daggers, a dwarven woman with the sigil of Ennoc on her shield, and an elf in a blue robe holding a staff. The armed people are in a defensive position, their backs at each other's. The people around them are making gestures with their hands and are shouting furiously. Meanwhile, the hooded figure has little idea of what is going on, after all, didn't he just wake up? All he knows is that something is about to happen, something bad. The hooded figure decides to get a higher view, and scales a building. Looking at the scene, things get into motion. It's unsure who made the first move, but it matters little. There were four, against hundreds. A few screams is heard among the chants and yells of the crowd, then a silence, before the crowd cheers. People start dispersing. An Orc can be seen holding a piece of blue cloth, a woman is seen triumphantically holding one of the daggers above her head. Both their clothes are stained red. The hooded figure finally gets a good look at what's left of the four, a mess. What first were two humans, a dwarf and an elf were rendered unrecognizable in a matter of minutes. Oppertunists can be seen taking all what might be valuable from the bodies, a minotaur uses a kitchen knife to crudely cut off the head of the man with the axe, cruely misformed. When he holds it high it can be greeted with cheers, and laughter. The hooded figure turned his head, and vomitted. Quote

Guts answered: "In a world where so many things are dark, to stop and bathe in the good is selfish. There will always be a group of people that feels oppressed, to try and appease everyone is insanity. Eubric is, despite the poverty, injustice and crime still a city of oppertunity. The people you call oppressed, I call lazy, you say we have to give them the tools to survive, I say let them earn them. These people are just a fracture of the people in Eubric. See the merchant districts, the Temples, even the docks on a good day. All are bustling with life, and that's the real spirit of Eubric, not this piss filled crevice of a district." -obelix- Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Thalion saw the coming of a tide, and stepped up: "People please, we should not argue amongst our selves! I may be (by elven standards) young and new to Eubric, but I am not new to the world so hear me when I say this to you; each one of us acted according to our beliefs, and no one should hold a grudge against anyone who did or didn't do something they approve or disapprove. I agree with Guts on this: NO ONE deserves to be lynched, no matter who they are or what they did, everybody deserves a chance to explain their actions. But I will add this, if, by some chance the Bonaparte soldiers were harassing the poor people here I would cast my spells against them to defend the poor. I am however glad that those poor people were brought back to life and given a second chance." Quote

All are bustling with life, and that's the real spirit of Eubric, not this piss filled crevice of a district." IC: De'kra clicked, "I never said forget the dark. I know darkness is in this city, in this world, in minds of people. Everyone has darkness in their minds, from their very first conscious moments. You can not forget about darkness, because if you enact that, then you ignore suffer of others. But while it may be selfish to focus on good, but it more selfish to forget it. If you forget or ignore what is good, then how will you know what is evil? How will you realize when you go to far, when you become evil, if you not know good? And perhaps simply, people need hope. And remember good can keep flames of hope alive." "Some might be lazy," admited De'kra, "people here have different work ethic than home. But it not completely their fault, because they are not born and advantage. From what I know of Eubric, everything costs gold. So if you parents are poor, you can not afford to learn. You can not buy tablets nor scrolls, you can not skillfully learn trade. You can not afford sturdy armor or durable tools, you can not enact your trade effectively. You can try all you like, but if you not have tools to aid you, if is massive uphill battle." "But children of houses are born to people and lots of gold," concluded De'kra, "They will have better education, and they will have better tools from start. They may still have to try and might still fail, but they will begin lot stronger. And people whose parents have some gold, maybe not much, will still be able to afford some tools and education, so they can survive. But they will not begin and resources of house children. There is major gap between people of Eubric, if I understand gold correctly. People in people give their children headstart, while people without power start from bottom." OOC: Any thoughts on De'kra's comments? Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 "I'll be honest, demonspawn. I don't know what you are talking about half the time and I don't actually care all that much. What I will say is that I fight and do what I think is right, wether that's dark or light, It matters as much to me as the colour of Laureline Hinckwell's morning dress. As for being born into privilige, it's unavoidable, naturally. And yes, people will have a disadvantage, but it's up to them to get out of it. Look at me, I was born with nothing, not even parents were there to help me guide my path. I think I did pretty well for myself, At age twenty I owned a business, five years later I owned several. I could have gotten richer than the Houses of Eubric if I had kept on that road, but I did not." Quote
