Thothwick then caves in, handing the mother 17 gold. She curtseys as she takes the money, and drags his son away lickety-split.

A few feet away, an elderly man with a long beard and only one arm stops them.

And although I no expert in organic life, I think his time on Olegaia might be...not so long. It probably too late to affect his mindset anyway. And not to assume, but I would guess that what he can give best can give is information, not physical labor. No offense sir."
