Posted September 3, 201212 yr Hello dear folks! When I stumbled upon Sebeus' experimental "Organic Ship building" technique I was quite intrigued. So I started thinking about it. Then I started buying bricks. And now I'm building a new vessel! The HMS Baratang will be a bomb ketch of the late 18th century. I tried a few things and came out with this solution for the outer hull that makes me quite happy! So far it's a bit moving-happy but this can be easily fixed by adding more fixation coming from the weather deck. Tell me what you think! And give Sebeus a big thank you for the idea UPDATE 16.09.12 Complete 02 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr Bombarde02 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr Bombarde01 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr Bow 03 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr Outer hull 02 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr Outer hull 01 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr Inner hull 01 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr Edited September 16, 201212 yr by Horry
September 4, 201212 yr I love that new technique! Looking good Horry! Keep an eye on the height of the ship, as bomb ketches were pretty low ships.
September 4, 201212 yr Author Thank you all! I love that new technique! Looking good Horry! Keep an eye on the height of the ship, as bomb ketches were pretty low ships. Thanks - this is one reason I decided to try a bomb ketch - I'm not too sure if I could keep my sanity if I tried to build a higher vessel with this technique
September 4, 201212 yr This looks very interesting, I haven't done much with the technique lately but seeing this makes me want to get back to it. I like the curve I see in the first picture, the curve at the bow seems a bit less fluent but that is a difficult part after all. I'll be watching this thread
September 10, 201212 yr Author Thank you all! I still haven't found a way to do the bow to my liking - I might end up with the "traditional" method constructing it - input on this matter is highly appreciated. Here are some updates! September 10, 201212 yr Author Just don't shoot the foremast will ya? Sir, this's supposed to be a ketch, Sir! (I'm lying, this was a fully rigged before. We used the foremast to fire up the galley again!) Edited September 10, 201212 yr by Horry
September 10, 201212 yr Lovely ketch Horry! Wich side is it going to bomb ? I hope you're not going to bomb Kahuka's villages! Greetz Bjornu
September 16, 201212 yr Author I've put the updates in the first post! I finally managed to do a bow to my liking that's quite stable! The hull is as good as finished, now.
