Mrlegoninja Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I do like the look of the flatbed truck this year. Besides that, I don't really have my eye on anything to grand. The new cargo sets look meh to me. Quote
Crackerjack Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 The ear defenders attach like the friends hair accessories do. there'll be a tiny peg in the centre of the headband of the defenders that fits into a small hole on the top of the cap that keeps the defenders in place. I imagine the piece will be utilised elsewhere as headphones with hairpieces that have holes on top in the future. Do you know this for sure? I was hoping it would be like the S8 DJ headpiece but either way it's cool. Quote
jonwil Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 It makes sense for LEGO to do it this way (with the ear clip being a separate piece) as its a fair bit cheaper than making the part out of multiple colors of ABS or making it in one color then printing on it in another color. Quote
Jargo Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Look here, you can see the cap on the foreground minifig has a hole dead centre on top. it's shown in other pics too. The ear defenders aren't painted, they're black plastic and separate from the cap. Across the summer sets there are about five or six minifigs with the cap and ear defenders. Some caps are blue but most are red. Quote

Never would have thought that space mattered more than money spent : /. Quote
PsyKater Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I love love love the Cargo Sets. Just great. Do we already have a green street sweeper part? Quote
Jargo Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I believe it only exists in yellow in both the hinge and ball joint types. The sweeper vehicle is probably just a scene embellishment in the way the different bicycle colours and buildings are in set promo dioramas. It's a little old fashioned in style that vehicle. We'd be more likely to get a vehicle like the one from 8404 Public Transport Station as a set. Quote
PsyKater Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I know, I think it is just great that LEGO uses colors for their own dioramas than they release for real. Wait. Did I say great? I meant unfair of course Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 That little green street sweeper is so similar to the one from 2005 it's not funny......perhaps it was a shelved prototype and they just used it as a prop ? Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Has anyone done or seen a review for the 60008 Museum Break-In set yet? Got mine the other night and will probably build it today... I've never one a full-fledged review but I suppose I could if it hasn't been done yet... Quote

legobear Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) OH MY GOD !!! Octan F1 Transporter!?!? Is Lego trying to give his their fan base a heart attack!? That's the craziest nicest set I've ever ever ever seeen!! Holy moly this one already screams priceless. Talk about delivering everything any Lego collector has ever wanted. A city set that's totally out there and an idea that's completely new. An F1 car sponsored by Octan holy moles!!!!!! tears of joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's literally screaming PLAY WITH ME!!!! It's transporter! It's a mobile mechanic station! It's a race car holder! It's all unified around prepping up an F1 car. It's genius !!!!! Oh and they add a new piece !!!!!! woooooow !!!!! lightning tiger I love you hahahahahah thanks for the pics !!! Edited February 3, 2013 by legobear Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) Wow, the Octan racing set is OUTSTANDING!!!! Great designs, stocked with accessories and playability. And, the new Fire Boat set notwithstanding, a new torso design as well... Absolutely a winner! I LOVE THE NEW 4-WAY BREAKER BAR! What really surprised me is this Monster Truck Transporter set-- I was totally prepared to pass on this, but now I'm not so sure. The truck design looks pretty good, ESP. The raised suspension... AND ANOTHER NEW TORSO!! "Airborne Spoilers:" I wonder if that's a subtle dig to all the fans that have run spoiler pics of new sets in the past, haha Also, I think these pics confirm what I suspected about the new ear protection piece: There's no pin in the piece or hole in the hat as some people had previously suggested. That's the CMF Ser.2 Baseball Player hat, and nothing more. I think what some readers thought was a hole in the hat was just the little dimple thing at the top of the hat casting a shadow. The eraser must just clip onto its sides, and perhaps that little dimple helps hold it into place. Thoughts? Edited February 3, 2013 by Mr. Elijah Timms Quote
kermit Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I noticed that on the air cargo helli-plane that the knob to pull and lower the hook sticks quite far out. I think it would look better if they left out that red technic piece and just used the black knob alone. Its just too distracting seeing it stick out that much. Quote

I share your excitement, guys! These two sets are AWESOME! Thanks for sharing, LT! The F1 Transporter is one of the best F1 sets ever! I love it that it's Octan and not a real-world team. Lordofdragonss Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 These new accesories are too detailed for my taste. They really look out of place with no way to integrate them with brick.... Quote
jonwil Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I do love the octan transport, good parts selection. What new piece are people seeing in the F1 transporter? Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Wish we could get a glimpse of the new gray torso those Coast Guard personnel are wearing... Every shot I look the front print is covered up by a life vest... Quote
Artifex Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 More pics here -- thanks go to Lightining Tiger and Aanchir: http://www.spieletest.at/bericht.php?ID=1174 Quote
CM4Sci Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Heh, the school is neat. Looks similar to a MOC I made for a CUUSOO project, I just never got around to posting it. I like the look of the teacher, very nice! I might actually pick this one up if it's not too expensive. -Sci Quote
metalandi Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) seems there will be a set of new tools with some sets! http://www.spieletes...021Lego2013.JPG www.spieletest.at/pics/bericht/1174/020Lego2013.JPG Edited February 3, 2013 by metalandi Quote

It can be seen here, and is already listed on service.LEGO.com as being in two sets, one as far back as 2007. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it showed up in later production runs of 4635, the 2012 set, but its inclusion in 6166, the 2007 set, is either an error or an indication that this set remained in production for an uncharacteristically long time. I'd guess "error" myself. Take note: the two old-style wrenches and the hammer are still included. Only the oil can, drill, and screwdriver have been replaced with newer, more realistic versions-- the two new wrenches and that cross-shaped tool I can't identify are not replacing any existing tools. metalandi Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 The cross shaped tool must be a wheel wrench! Here's one in real life: http://www.esska.de/esska_de/bilder/lbilder/899237_1218448632_g.jpg Quote
paul_delahaye Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I'm a little disappointed with the Octan race car transporter, the tractor is fine, the race car is fine, but the trailer.......It's now reached 8 wide.......It has to be to get the car in, but this is now wider than a Lego train....... Also it lacks any detail under the trailer, there is not even a set of legs, or whatever they are called for the trailer to stand when not being towed. it's a little lacking in my opinion. Paul Quote

Paul True, but add the legs yourself if you wish....just copy the ones off the Lego/TRU semi-trailer. Plus I don't mind the 8 wide bit.....gives a realism to the trailer which must be wider than the car or it won't fit right ? Quote
