I looked real close at that car and there is a red one around the corner from it....looks purple to me.....actually I compare my car from 60017 which is dark red plus the car pictured seem to have studs showing for tail lights not slope 30's.

Compare it to the building in the background (next to the red and the tan one). Could be dark red still. (rather than purple)

Perhaps I should have wrote it's out front of the police station and the red car which comes from the 2011 police chase set is on the corner not 10cm from the car being towed. If colour is being effected then the orange on the tow truck would be as well and it isn't.....have a little faith in the tiger - colour is one of my specialities being a TV tech.

Edit - on the suspect car the colour is even across the back but in 60017 it's not the spoiler is black and has that 1x2 grille tile sitting up front at the back of the driver.....dark red and black will not give off the same colour hue....it's not possible.

Granted, I am not specialist. I am just saying that the car being pulled looks quite similar to the color of the building in the background which is quite clearly darkred:

Could still be an optical illusion, though.

edit: Let's wait until we see the close-up. Eiker has seen it in real life after all.

The red car was first seen last year when the multi-storey car park and hospital were first shown. It's the yellow car from the set, in red with cheese slopes at the rear instead of a 1x4 tile. The blue car on the top of the car park is seemingly new. It's almost like a cross of the VW like SUV and blue car that came in the car park set.

I refer you to the photo linked to in my previous post which is from last year. The car in the pic from last year uses a red 4x6 roof wedge. Both cars are the same and even appear to have the same minifig at the wheel.

what I did get wrong was comparing the mysterious blue car to the existing blue car from the multi-storey when I meant to say the yellow car from 4435 Car and Caravan.

Very true he has seen it.....oh, that dark red building with the patch work of light grey bricks....yeah different shade altogether....but really this is scooting off into off-topic stuff.

Lets work with what we know and can see.

Edit - ah, the red car at 4207....yes, yes....must have been a prototype....interesting word that is prototype....like things can change.

Edit 2 - now after some reading on something call Purple Fringing and even deeper again I discovered that will some digital camera's - white balance problems can cause reds to appear purple.....only problem there is there is more than one red-ish car in the shot....though at a different position from the overhead lighting which also could be causing this effect.

True, the bike shop is a modern take on that classic 80's motorcycle shop......now the gas station I did say about the green curved slope pieces......this colour isn't in any set listing on Bricklink.....hence it's new - plus add a few unknown vehicles about the layout.

There was the same kind of doubt talked of a few years back about the 3677 red cargo train if my memory serves correct.

LEGO designers have access to pieces in colours that aren't available to the rest of us though. I'm pretty sure Mark Stafford has put up MOCs online that he's built at LEGO that used pieces us mere mortals can't get.

Very true, but MOC wouldn't be the word......prototype I would use instead.

I'm surprised that our member has been the only person in the world to upload images from the display......strange. :look:

Edit - I have doing some part counting from that display......

Say the crane and statue......approx. 200 pieces

Next the pizza bar..................approx. 100 pieces

Then the bus.........................approx. 150 pieces

Bike Shop, allow for...............approx. 200 pieces

Little street sweeper..............approx. 30 pieces

Gas Station...........................approx. 200 pieces

Misc street lighting & signs....approx. 20 pieces

That comes to....................................900 pieces.......listed part count is 914.

Hence the Gas Station could be part of this due to the high use of large plates and window/window frames being used.

Yep, that's the dark red car for sure.....actually setup my tow truck with my dark red car to try and catch the light reflections off the back of the car.....like I wrote last night - common problem with digital cameras and bright lights......like industrial arc discharge lighting like the type used in these venues.

Well that's one question answered.

Still leaves even more unanswered. :look:

I don't think so =D

You're brick calculation is good and I'm cheering for that the set is going to contain the gas station, bike shop, pizza place, bus, crane and the sweeper =D

And if you meant me about the picture's, I did choose Thursday just to bring up photos from that layout as fast as possible ;)

Everything else in Copenhagen I could have done any of these days :)

Town Plan consists of; a Bike Shop (corner building, open back), 'City Pizza' restaurant (front facing, open back), Bus, Road Sweeper, Monument, Crane and benches+litter bins. I believe there may be some extra micro-builds, but can't remember.

Don't judge the product too harshly from these photos as the builders have modified it for the display - here it contains two Bike Shops side-by-side, two restaurants back-to-back and all the other elements are built 'into' the road plates, per se. The buildings in the real product are contained up to where you see the smooth sidewalk plates in the photos.

It's essentially a reboot of 7641 City Corner, which proved quite popular.

Huw from Brickset will have the "exclusive" details from 60026 at some point.

http://brickset.com/...rticle/?ID=5782

Don't they always end up with such details ?

If the bike shop is actually only half size then where is the row of studs free for the end side wall ? (must be heavily modified then eh ?)

Plus would that mean more parts for other things to go in the town centre ?

Now also there are fixtures and a minifig inside the gas station......if this was just make the display look prettier thing it would be a modular like the others behind it......and just as empty too ?

Edit - Going over some more images from LEGO World 2013 I noticed that the blue SUV on top of 4207 has a license plate sticker....need to find a better picture of that vehicle.

I hope that green street sweeper isn't included. It's total pants. The crane is pretty much pants too. I'd buy the bike shop, pizza pace and bus as a set but the statue, crane and sweeper just don't cut the mustard for me. Especially that horrible throwback sweeper. Hideous ugly and pointless. No self respecting city would use such antiquated equipment.

Clearly not from the USA, that type of street sweeper is vey popular in colleges whee it snows, just brushes the snow off the sidewalks. However it does look like the green tractor polybag from a few years back with a brush added.

I like the crane, as a separate set, same with the bus. Lego needs to make a $20 or $30 separate bus. I'm sick of buses in sets I will never bother buying.

I'm not sure what you but in this picture you can clearly see where the two 'halves' are joined together.

I do like how the tile on the second floor of the Bike Shop is orange and black. I wonder if that's an intentional nod to Harley-Davidson?

Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! :classic:

Someone posted here http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=5784 and said "I asked about the gas station, and it is not part of the set, nor another new set, it's just something they made for the layout. Sadly. I would love to have a new gas station." so the gas station is not a set.

As for the access to parts that aren't available in sets, there were a few moonbase modules a while back made by LEGO designers that included such parts as http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=52041 in blue, green and pink,

Or http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=52031 in pink (which didn't exist at the time)

Or http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2598 in trans-orange

see

http://www.brickfest.com/moonbase_poll_options.php

for some pictures.

Not to mention all the parts that people have obtained through various means. (like the 2 x 2 round tiles in trans-clear that I have even though they never appeared in a set)

And in any case the green curved slope http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=61068 DOES exist in green (in a Ninja Turtles set)

So there is no new gas station.....then what in the world is making up 914 parts ?

Well, I guess some reverse engineering might be involved and then I'll build my own......and we all know the tiger can do that !

Edit - the 2x4 curved slope in green is also the fuel saver spoiler on the upcoming cargo truck.

Meh, I for once still think the gas station will be a set one way or the other. It just seens too official to be not a set, well only time will tell

You are not the only one who thinks that this could be a smoke screen or a test to see if a new service station is needed in the Lego City line up.

I wonder how they decide the themes and sub-themes each year eh ? (maybe slips of paper on a dart board and throw darts at it  )
