cosmolon Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 good idea. i saw in the lego website page that minifigures series 9 and 8 will be retiring soon. when series 10 get launch the last 2 will dissappear?. Quote
MAH4546 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I picked up 60100 yesterday. Usually I'd wait for a sale, but I want the original version and found it at Target. I really don't get why the switch was made, because the original model is quite stable and well built. However, the one switch that does make sense is how the water gun was remounted. It's is very awkwardly mounted in the original. Quote
Graysmith Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Technically, if LDD is anything to go by, we do have a "new" shark soon to appear in sets: design ID 14518. It has molded gills, beveled corners on its body, more connection points on the underside and more rounded fins, but is otherwise identical to the old shark 2547 in terms of size and shape. A couple years back we also had a new shark upper jaw introduced 87587, which is more rounded than the classic "pointy" shark jaw 2548. As for why the shark from Agents/Pirates isn't used more often, I suppose it's considered either too costly or unrealistically large for a theme based on the real world. Alternatively, perhaps TLG worries that a shark that big in a theme based on real life (often with civilians) might seem scary for kids. It's a bit of a shame. I prefer that shark greatly just by virtue of it having printed eyes, and even if the angry eyes weren't to everyone's liking, a new eye print would not be impossible to accomplish. Good catch (no pun intended)! Looking at FBTB's Toy Fair photos again, I noticed that the white shark on the box in the Coast Guard Helicopter set is indeed this new (small) shark. The actual set that was displayed had the old (small) shark though, as did the boxes and displays for the other coast guard sets. I think we can expect them all to have this new shark when they're released though. As for the big Agents/Pirates shark, I always found it to be too cartoony (reminds me of Bruce from Finding Nemo). I'm very happy they're using the smaller and more realistic shark, and even happier knowing that LEGO has refreshed the design of it! Quote

Bricktrain Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Liking the train doors in black used on the bus. Funny that the stickers on the cargo plane were on the wrong pieces in the toy fair photo. Quote
scottwb2010 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I love the set with the loggers! I'd like to see the new minifigs in that. Great shots. Thanks. I too like the loggers. Pity the hadn't made a couple of sets to go with the like a log truck Quote
andythenorth Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 +1 to logging. Would be a great sub-theme to follow mining. Quote
Jargo Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I'm seeing the lumberjacks as forest management rather than destructive loggers. Quote
Christopholus Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 I would very much like to see a loggers sub-theme, they could merge it into the forest police sub-theme perhaps. I do like the look of the new elite police sets, nice to see some updated police figures I think! Quote
Darth Malgus Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I like the mid year releases, they look good, glad they got away from the police and fire for a while, my kids tubs are full of police and fire sets. The mine series was nice last year and I like the coast guard set looks like a lot of fun too. Quote
Alex020599 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Hi: Have your LCGS any web-page? I'm interested in one of your boats. I like having two cranes with floats. At the bottom right wing. The ship is like this: https://www.google.e...io.html;968;525 Please answer me by email: alejandromwm@gmail.com Quote

Please keep the discussion on-topic. Thanks. Quote
LegoDad Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Thanks for the new pictures. I'm not terribly excited about the upcoming sets, but I'm not a huge City builder anyway. I do like the racing semi and the Cargo airliner, just to add to the airport. I've never picked up a City Advent Calendar, but for the nice Santa and Dalmation, it might be worth it this year. Also, can't wait for the Town Square, though as it seems, the really cool gas station isn't included, which is a pity. Quote
Aanchir Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I was in a Barnes and Noble yesterday and happened to spot the "young readers" book Detective Chase McCain: Stop That Heist in the children's section. I was actually quite impressed with it. Click the Amazon.com link there to see a preview. Generally I like any LEGO book that has illustrations drawn specifically for it rather than using stock art or animation screenshots, but in this case the story itself was also compelling. The LEGO City Museum is having a gala, and it's a costume party. During the party some crooks (also in costume) try to steal the museum's blue diamond, but luckily Chase McCain is there to pursue them. In true action-movie style, each one of the crooks has their own particular set of skills. One of them is even a woman, something I don't believe we've ever seen in a LEGO Town or City set (all criminals/convicts have been men, haven't they?). Overall, it's not Ocean's Eleven, but it's still a much more compelling story than most LEGO City picture books or even most City-themed LEGO magazine comics, since the book goes out of its way to make sure the characters driving the action have unique personalities. Mr. Elijah Timms Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Hey guys... Just curious, do we have concrete dates for the Coast Guard and Cargo summer releases? It's like I just woke up today and realized that May is less than a month away! Quote
Ajax Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I can't believe I just bought the old coast guard boat, I should have waited to see these pics, the new one is even better and the helicoptor is awesome too. 3 sharks in 1 coast guard set is unusual for Lego. Quote
just2good Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) From World of Games, here's some pretty good pictures for the Summer 2013 wave! Edited April 12, 2013 by just2good Quote
jonwil Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Does anyone know what color the windows on the red bus in the Town Square set are? I cant tell from the pictures if they are trans-smoke or trans-clear. Quote
Zed_43 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 This 4 sets are really nice! I think I'll buy some of them: helicopter (even if I have the former one, I really tlike this one: really reallistic), the jet ski and maybe the car with boat! LEGO is giving us exceptionnal sets every year. It changes form the 200-2004 era with horrible town sets! I don't have the money to follow the rythm of good sets and MOCing at the same time! Quote
polarscribe Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 (edited) I don't get the "mini-sub" thing on the Coast Guard cutter. An ROV isn't particularly realistic - and isn't going to be much help in rescuing people. I'll probably scrap it and use the RHIB from the truck-and-boat set. Also, as far as the date, the World of Games link says July. Edited April 13, 2013 by polarscribe Quote
meyerc13 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I don't know why, but I just can't resist LEGO's Coast Guard sets. Something about that White/Blue/Orange color scheme really draws me in. I have the boat and lighthouse from a few years ago, but I'll probably pick up these too. I missed the helicopter last time, and I like that one better, but I guess I might have to settle for this one. Have there been any pictures of the minifigs without their life jackets? I'd like to get a good look but don't think I've seen any close up pictures. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I feel the same way, originally I wasn't interested in the new coast guard sets, but that ship and helicopter has the tiger interested in buying them.....just don't tell my wife okay ? Quote
Zzz Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 The helicopter loooks really good. On World of Games it's listed for SFr 40, what translates to roughly 32€. Is there any word about the € price tag for this one? I couldn't find anything. Quote
